Evening all.

Just a quick update from me. This week saw my three month anniversary of my second replacement. I feel that I'm doing really well.

I have no pain, barring slight lower back discomfort when I've been sitting for a while. # of daily pills: zero!

I still feel I have a fair amount of work to do on my glute strength and my rom and I have booked a physiotherapy session for a couple of weeks time just to make sure I'm on the straight and narrow!

My stick is still in the back of my car - "just in case". I am going to the gym 5 times per week and generally feel good.

Hope you're all enjoying your Sunday.

Blimey

You are doing really well

I only hope I can emulate your acheivements

Well done, it must make you feel fantastic!

Dave

So happy to hear how well you are doing! Keep up the good work :thumb:

Smart to keep the stick around for a while longer, though....just in case. But I'd say it's probably going to just gather dust! Good for you!

You are doing so good Cappy and it's really great to see.
Fantastic! :thumb:

Last night, for the first time in many years, I cut my own toenails.

Whoo hooo, Cappy! Sometimes the simple accomplishments like this can bring such great joy! You're truckin' right along....keep the good reports coming.

Hiya Cappy, wonderful wonderful post, you sound like life is returning to normal for you! Happy Happy days

Keep up the good work

What do you do down the gym?

:cry4:Must admit, I'm missing you on here Cappy! That's the name of the game though, isn't it? Wishing you oodles of good health and happiness ahead! You have done fantastic :thumb:!

Well done Cappy I can cut my left no bother but still have a problem with the right  it seems my right foot has turned slightly out which makes it a tad difficult.
Great to hear things are coming along nicely though.

Thank you all. Before surgery I wanted to be able to do two things* - cut my nails and put my trousers on whilst standing up.

I'm now able to do the first but I still don't have the glute mede strength for the pants.

Tanny, I'll give you gym feedback after my physio visit tomorrow - I have been doing leg press / extension / curl exercises but I want to get a specific routine tomorrow.

We have a lot of snow and ice here now and it's turned me into a big fearty. Need to be careful out there.

* I mean two things that I couldn't do before - if I spent all day just cutting nails and putting on my trousers then I wouldn't be that happy really.

Yep, I don't think just cutting nails and putting on trousers would make you happy. Lol.... A lot more things to make you happy like not being the one in the picture falling down.

You will get there and with the work you are doing in the gym, it will be sooner than later. Keep up the great work Cappy, wish I could be doing those things.

Your time will come Julie, I'm sure. I know it must feel like such an ordeal at the moment but "this too will pass".

Following our snow and ice we are now recovering from yesterday's broken link removed: https://news.stv.tv/scotland/west-central/286308-glasgow-and-the-west-recover-from-fierce-storm/. The snow's on its way back now. Great!

I had a good physio visit on Tuesday; confirmed that I have very weak glute medes. She gave me a couple of exercises - apparently the clam is easy to cheat with and the quads do the work instead.

Hey there Cappy! PATIENCE my friend! I think you are doing fantastic, trully! You are just over three months from the second THR and having had 2 major surgeries in less than eight months...give yourself a big pat on the back! Time and patience Cap.

Just think of what bad shape you were in and for how long? That is not going to go back to normal overnight, but it will go back to normal! I know it is hard to wait for it, but it will happen...promise!

Keep up the great work, and don't be so hard on yourself. A body can only heal as fast a body can heal...you are doing just fine :wink1:

Thanks Janet.

A question for you other time served hipsters out there. I am finding that, although my surgery and follow up have gone better than I could have dreamt, I do not have the same "joie de vivre" that I had before surgery.

Has anyone else found that?

Yup! You just had the stuffin' knocked out of you! It will come back. Probably will take the year though. It really did take that long for me to feel normal, and then I've still got this other thing going on .

And remember, you had TWO, not one to go through!

I do agree with Jo on this one...

Hi Cappy, you haven't seen the full benefit of your THRs yet. Early days still. Believe me - there will come the day when you realise just how far you have come and rejoice every time you can walk normally and do all the things you want to do.

Hi Cappy, yes I know what you mean and I've only had one done. I blame it on the anaesthetic as much as anything else plus I still don't have as much endurance and energy as pre op. but the more experienced Smarties say up to 12 months so I draw comfort from that. :thumb:
