THR Tashia's Hip is in Recovery, WOW!

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

Wow tashia, you have certainly been through alot! I really admire your determination.

I sounds like you do have a good goal. Redecorating your new place could be fun. And you will get there! Just a bit more healing and pampering yourself. Enjoy!

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

Hello Tashia

I have just been reading through your thread and am full of admiration for your courage and fortitude. You really have been through a lot over the past five years.

As all the others have said now is the time to think of yourself. Pamper yourself , rest and recouperate.

You surely are a a person full of grit and determination and your storey puts into perspective when some of us have a little moan because we are still getting a few minor aches and pains.

Getting the blues is perfectly understandable and I am certain it will help if you can talk it through with the good people here at BS.

I have no medical knowledge ( and my sewing skill aren't up to much either!) but I feel sure your hip pain will subside and you will soon be off all pain meds but as is so often said - everyone heals at a different rate.

Incidently, congratulations on your computer skills. Remember a computer is only a tool to be used. It is what is said from the heart that counts.

Take Care

Dave

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

Hello Tashia, we haven't spoken before because I'm not around much. I just wanted to say how moved I was by your story and your huge courage in surviving all of that. As you say we all have hills to climb, and yours sounds like a range of mountains, not just a hill! You are one special lady. Now you're on top of that range of mountains looking at the beauty of life, give yourself one big pat on the back! May your recovery be swift and sure - be gentle with yourself.

Love and hugs,

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

Wow! What a story!

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

I need to say to all of you I debated about telling you all this but I stated writing it and it just came out. I hope by sharing it, everyone can realize whatever happens or comes you way, you can handle it. And most of all we are all equal or no one is stronger than another. As I read all the posts I hear such strength and courage. We are all bond together and that is to get better. I think I shared that I told my daughter I would never join a group on the internet, well I have to eat those words. All keep in touch! I'm tired and need some :doggieshmooze:

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

Tashia, I'm just reading your heartfelt post with your story. Thank you so much for sharing something so deeply personal. You have no idea the impact something like that can have on some of our members or guests here on BoneSmart who are facing challenges in their lives. To see someone come through all that with the dignity and grace you have is truly inspiring.

I am so sorry you had to go through all of that. But that old saying proves true with you...."What doesn't kill me serves to make me stronger!" And you are ONE STRONG LADY!!! I'm so glad you're here to pass on some of that strength and support to others.

Now.....after all of that, mastering computers should be a breeze!:th_heehee: We'll help whenever we can!

God bless you and here's to some good healing ahead for you!!!

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

I have been taking medicane every eight hours and do feel much better. it still concern me that I still need strong pills at this time. Being tired and still getting tired I can understand but the pain pills are still quite strong. I have given in to sleeping whenever I need it. I do know I have been thru a lot but on the other hand I think you can understand why I want to get back in life including driving. Phyically I know I could drive but with drugs in me, no way will I get behind the wheel. I'm going to mention that I use timers that fit on the preciption bottom so I won't take them to soon or forget to take them. I have some medication that needs to be taken on a empty stomach and not eat for a hour. Because I have to wait for a hour it is very easy to start my day and forget breakfast, so this is were a alarm comes in. Also there are some medicine that is not to be taken together and agin this alarm comes handy. I have one attached to each bottle so that the medicane will be kept evenly spaced apart. this is when I find them most effictive and also have less side effects because the right amont is most of the time in the system. You can get them at drug stores and no dough at other places. The reason I mentioned them is because I hate taken medicine and I need to be reminded to take them and this also makes sure I don't overdose.. Well I feel a little better but still blue. I had such a good day because i got out. Tomarrow will be another day and one day closer to full recover. Everyone take care . I will read some posts and no dought will start feeling better. I need some positive reading this is the place to find it.:doggieshmooze::sigh::flowerysmile:

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

Can you find this timer online and let us have a link? That sounds a neat device.

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

Josephine, I went and took one off one of my bottle to look at the brand and this is what I found. It comes from Walgreens and it called Dose-Alert Pill Reminder. Also it has patent pending. Now does that mean it only Walgreens or is the product Dose-Alert Pill Reminder. I will try to see if I can find more about it on the internet because I do know what it looks like. I'm goiing to search now.:doggieshmooze::yes 4::flowerysmile:

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

Josephine, I found it on the inter-net but I don't know how to hightligt so I will write the address here. It is dose-alert.com :wow2: I hope this helps. It is a great tool. I did notice drug stores has them. You guys are sure that your going to keep me up in computer skills. Tell me how do highlight a sight in this posting so everyone could get there? I hope you know what I mean. I need a nap so if this doesn't help, try to tell me how I could get this site to you . Remember its dose-alert.com :doggieshmooze::flowerysmile:

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

Thanks, that's perfect!

I'll give you more computer skills that you can handle! If you look in Office in the grey Nav Bar up top, you will find How To Use The Forum

In there are heaps and heaps of instructional articles complete with screen shots to tell you where to find things.

As for hotlinking a word (that's what it's called) that article is here posting a link to somewhere else

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

when I joined, I could use the inter-net and use the form. Now I find myself learning more than I ever thought and you are starting to sound like my daughter and do love it very much. She won't let me get by with just the knowlege (sp) I have now. I now realize she now has a support group to get me to learn more. :th_heehee: I will check the sight out.:ThankYou:

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

I told myself whenever I found my self feeling the blues, I would come to this site. Got out again today and was able to go a couple of sewing stores. No doubt I overdid it again. I am having so much trouble pacing myself. I know I keep saying this but I find myself wanting to do what I use to do. Yes, I am impatient, I know. What I have learned is that I had too many operation in the last two years and it's really played a toll on my body.

In March 9th, it will be two years for new knee. After the hip replacement last September I have had lots of pain in that knee and it being really stiff. When I feel blue I find I don't eat well and I know that's not good at all. I have no engergy even to make a batch of my Chile. It is so good but I just don't have the interest in making it. I have everything but it just sits there. It started as just a Better Homes and Garden receipt then as the years gone by it developed into my original making.

As my husband and I moved to many places in the US, I got exposed to new spices. That was so cool. It does have a bite and if you like spicey food you would like it, but if you don't, it could be a chore. The problem I'm just not hungry. The good news that I have lost some weight and my doctor knows of me not being hungry so even he is keeping a eye on me.

I do like lots of fruit and nuts so thats good. This weekend I hope to start some sewing, but right now the thought of it is overwhelming me. We are going to have lots of rain coming so I will have time to go thru the sewing stuff and when I get it done, no doubt I will find myself sewing like mad. :hairpulling: I just remember I have forgotten to take my vitamins. Maybe that's why I'm so tired.

Tomorrow I see a pain doctor and I hoping there is something I could do but taken pain pills. I really hate taking them. I know right I need them. As in life there are times you have to do things you don't like and I guess now is the time in my life. I read in one post, I can't remember who, but you are suppose to do only one thing a day, then take easy for the rest of the day. That is so hard to do. :sigh:

Well thats enough from me right now. I feel I keep repeating myself but its possible that other people are having the same problems. I would love to hear from them and maybe they have found a solution and they could share it with me. Good night. :doggieshmooze::sleep:

Re: New hip 13 September - feeling sad

Tashia,

Thanks so much for your post. I, too, don't eat well when I'm feeling down, get into the sugar which tastes so good in the moment but then makes me feel awful later. After I write this I'm going to throw away the cookies and candy! I am also having some trouble finding balance with this hip #2. It wasn't a problem with my first replacement, but it is now. I either feel I do too much or beat myself up for not doing enough...can't win. I like the idea of maybe doing one thing a day and then resting. Hope you feel better soon, the blues are a part of this feeling. The one good thing for me is if I have a major crying jag I usually feel better later or the next day...maybe I should try and cry everyday LOL Hang in there, strong lady!
