Please be careful though. I'm glad you are feeling better, you didn't say, have you eaten anything that stayed down? Glad that your Mom will be there soon. Maybe she will be a match for your 'hard-headedness". :whistle:
 
Hi Kaye Kaye! Yes, I ate two meals yesterday and a packet of cheese and peanut butter crackers and everything was fine! (As far as the hardheaded part, where do you think I got it from! My Mom wins everytime, and she will check me out in her nursing mind, and then I wil know if I am safe or not!) :wink:
 
Hello Everyone! :happydance:

I am back to eating and drinking again and the Zofran is back to working with one pill! I am so excited!

Now I need to figure out why there is still a stitch in my incision 12 weeks after surgery! Katie was working on the scar today, and found it. She took alcohol and tweezers to it, but it is pretty deep so she cut the end off so I wouldn't be tempted to pull it out. I don't know where she gets her silly notions that I would EVER do something like that! :angel:

Jo or Jamie, have you heard of stiches existing 12 weeks after surgery? Or am I just an exceptional case.:wink: Josephine; Jamie
 
I wish I would have seen this sooner. With my Crohns, that is a frequent problem for me (not being able to eat). I drink chicken broth and jello alot. It helps to give me a little sodium and fluids at the sametime. Glad to hear you are able to eat again. Big hugs!

I will keep that in mind if my tummy starts going south again! I lost weight but it wasn't worthit, that's for sure! I need nutrition to be able to heal and one thing that I found out about the past two weeks, is the healing had slowed way down.
Well I am back to eating, and I feel like I have gotten over the hard part, I will just need the EGD on Monday to find out what is wrong so I can have a more permanent fix.:yes!:
 
The Smith and Nephew HK went into production for all doctors to use the last of March of this year. It was extensively tested in the U.S. and Europe before the FDA patented it. Dr. Maale was so excited when he first started the process of getting the patents (along with many other doctors around the world who had a hand in designing it) that he told me a story I will never forget and I doubt he will either. When they start the very first knees, they are not allowed to put them in living patients. So they use cadavers. I was going to be one of the first living patients of his, but due to complications was number 50 on his list! Anyway, he sat down and started telling this story about how he put the hinged knee in these cadavers and the success he was having. There were two nurses and I sitting in the room, and remember I am shy:whistle: so I sat and listened for a few minutes as he tallked about the great success he was having. I said "May I ask some questions? and he replied anything, so I started to talk." I said, what was their pain level after the procedure, how much ROM did they regain, were they up walking the same day, etc. etc. Dr. Maale is a brilliant surgeon but this went right over his head and the nurses were laughing so hard they were about to fall out of their chairs!:heehee:

I finally said, Dr. Maale the people you have been putting these knees in are dead! I want some "lively" statistics! He slowly had a smile creep to his face along with turning red, and told me I was funny. I said well, others say shy!:rotfl:
He told me he didn't think anyone had ever accused me of being shy and then he went on to discuss the merits of the S&N HK revision!:happydance:

When I asked for opinions about what type of person I am I forgot to say shy and introverted! I am sure many of you would have chosen that one!:angel:
 
I'm glad your stomach seems to have settled down and you're rehydrating.

By the way if you would like to join our skiing party BJ is offering to rent the entire ski lodge with a private chef so we can have a big BoneSmart party!:happydance: It depends on where you live as to if I can swoop down and pick you up in the jet BJ is so graciously providing! She is a great friend!:happydance:

I have had several stitches that have worked thier way to the surface. First one was at about 6 weeks. I called doc office and was told to pull tight and snip close to the skin. Apparently all the stitches are supposed to be disolvable but they do take some time to disolve and if they are exposed to air they are less disolvable. I haven't had one work its way up to the surface since about week 8. Katie did the right thing, try not to fiddle with it, your skin will eventually cover over it.

I see my OS on Aug.13th and I'm going to ask him what kind of Hinged Knee he installed. That's one question I didn't ask but then again he hadn't planned on using one until he got into my knee and seen that it crumbled in his hands. He then knew we had more issues then he expected. My surgery went from 1.5 hrs to 5 hours long. Anyway this OS surgeon is also on the cutting edge of technology within the Knee Replacement arena. I'll let you know when I find out what kind of hinged knee I have.

I'm sooo glad your feeling better as I wouldn't want you to miss your ski trip that BJ is putting together for you ladies. I can't believe she has rented out the whole mountain for you ladies and then bringing in the Chippendales to wait on all of you. And all she wants in return is bubble wrap, now I am scratching my head on that one.

First of all, thank you so much for following my thread! It gets bogged down at times esp. when I am not feeling very well. That's when all of my Bone Smart friends come along to kick me in the rear to get me going again! :happydance:

I am interested in what type of hinged knee you have also. After all we may be brother and sister now, which will automatically qualify you and your wife for the ski trip! :happydance:

BJ you are really something! I had no idea the Chippendales were going to be there! Wow! You are making this into the best party ever for a shy friend who wants to meet as many Bone Smarties as possible! :cheers:

Sonja I'm so glad you are eating again. I pray you continue to get well so you can keep us all entertained with your lively style. I'd jump on board for the skiing but I hate winter. Now head to the sand and surf in Hawaii and I'm your girl!

An update for everyone,

Mom did a thorough check to make sure I wasn't dehydrated! I have received the all clear from Dr. Mom :happydance:
 
Yes BJ I am! I have started eating steak again! Wouldn't want to get out of practice for our exciting ski lodge shindig! :happydance:
