If you don't get your butt to the ER, ASAP, we are going to have to cancel your ski trip. So no ifs,and, or buts. We need you pick up the body parts, they are very important to us.

I am trying to remember how to tell if you are dehydrated. I'm not playing, I am serious, I just can't remember! :gaah:
 
Mild to moderate dehydration is likely to cause:
  • Dry, sticky mouth
  • Sleepiness or tiredness
  • Thirst
  • Decreased urine output — eight hours or more without urination
  • Few or no tears when crying
  • Dry skin
  • Headache
  • Constipation
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
Severe dehydration, a medical emergency, can cause:
  • Extreme thirst
  • Extreme irritability and confusion in adults
  • Very dry mouth, skin and mucous membranes
  • Lack of sweating
  • Little or no urination — any urine that is produced will be dark yellow or amber
  • Sunken eyes
  • Shriveled and dry skin that lacks elasticity and doesn't "bounce back" when pinched into a fold
  • Low blood pressure
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Rapid breathing
  • No tears when crying
  • Fever
  • In the most serious cases, delirium or unconsciousness
Unfortunately, thirst isn't always a reliable gauge of the body's need for water. A better indicator is the color of your urine: Clear or light-colored urine means you're well hydrated, whereas a dark yellow or amber color usually signals dehydration.

Mine seems to be in the mild to moderate category then you mention color of urine and now I'm not sure.
 
I was a bit concerned about your eyes, Sonja. The skin test and color of urine are probably the main indicators to use.

That's right I do have circles around my eyes! I can't think straight right now. I am sleepy and I have been tired for days!

Ok, I am going to go talk to my husband. It is time for us to do something.
 
:thumb: Better to go and not have needed to than to have needed the ER and stayed home......
 
Yes please take their advice and go to the ER as soon as you can. If you haven't ate or kept down water it's probably essential to get an IV of some sort to get some fluids back in. Let us know how it goes.

Well I'm hopeing that silence means Sonja is getting evaluated and treated or at least her Mum is assessing the situation. I'm sure she will let us know how she is doing when she can. ChrisO
 
Hello Everyone!:)

I have talked to my Mom and she gave me her speech. I took two zofran at lunch today and it seems to have helped! I have not had anymore tummy problems and I am drinking a lot of fluids and my urine is returning to a normal color. I did the hand pinch test last night and it bounced right back, so I thought that I could probably wait until I talked to Dr. Mom!:)
I'm glad I did, because I am feeling so much better today and have not needed a nap or anything! I had been crawling into bed for several hours during the day. I am being careful though, and Mom will be here in person tomorrow to "have a look at me!" She said if she didn't like what she saw, then it was off to the ER!:whistle:

Thank you everyone for your kindness and allowing me to be my hardheaded self. I was almost ready to give in but today has seen a turn around without the sunken in eyes!:happydance:
