Pugfugly Hey, Hobbit Warrior, it is 41 degrees F this morning, which we Floridians consider incompatible for human life. I agree, I just have to take care of myself and 3 pampered cats, and when I think about all that Cookie42 does, I'm ready for a nap.

oh sissy, you don't want to see what's going on here today, somebody slipped up and actually
told Mother Nature that Winter started yesterday, and , well, she obliged. I think my SO
actually wrote her a letter wishing for a white Christmas, so I'll blame her! Anyway,
right on time, yesterday we got a shot of snow, then the wind picked up overnite and it's
been going steady all nite, and going to all day they say. So much for a shopping trip later today!
I will be out on snow removal duty when i get home from work after noon. Here's a pic out
of my office this morning:

EEEEowww! cnydutch Don't overdo it with the snow removal duty, Dutch. If you're going to overdo it, get back to the rink. My philosophy is, some things are worth the risk, and some aren't---this is why I find cleaning house is often too risky for my new hip, but kayaking all day is not:heehee:

Your picture reminds me of when I lived in Plattsburgh NY for two years. The snow plows would bury my little VW beetle. And I learned not to use the handbrake because it would freeze, and then I'd have to drive around in reverse until it thawed out. I loved the snow, but after two winters I moved to Florida and never looked back.

SIssy I'm back on light duty, had my foot operated on Wednesday, and it's in a soft wrap that won't
allow me to put a normal shoe or boot on, so i am walking funny with this open shoe contraption on!
my snow removal machine is a big garden tractor with a cab! so i don't overdo it while doing that,
but i have been doing a little shoveling the last days, the front and back porch and sidewalks etc.
no skating for me for a couple more weeks, after my follow up with my foot surgeon, and stitches
come out and swelling is down (if there is any, can't see it!)
frozen park brakes, yup, learn that the hard way!

Hobbits not liking snow..... We don't have any in the Shire yet, copious amounts of rain. I've already refused to leave the house now until it gets warmer. Although February had better pick up as my girls got me tea at The Ritz for my birthday yesterday. They picked that month because they said they would only go shopping in London once I am not walking like an orang utan. Aren't they adorable....
Cnydutch I think your front yard looks so pretty.

Sissy I have three cats too, one of which has taken to sleeping on me whenever and wherever I close my eyes. He is my hot water bottle.

I can't wait to go to our ocean house..

I can sit in bed and see, pelicans and sea eagles riding the thermals, large sting rays, in amongst the oyster beds, and dolphins everywhere..

The moon bathing the bed like god had turned spot light on us, through a big picture window...

My piece of paradise..

And of course, nordic walking walking the boardwalk over the inlet to the ocean and then swimming and snorkeling with the baby fish and octopus..

Coffee on the beachfront....

A girl can dream can't she.. Soon!

p.s. we are in the middle of a very heavy storm and the forecast is for more rain!!!

cnydutch I had forgotten you had your foot surgery done. So smart! Will keep you from overdoing it with the hip, and soon both foot and hip will be good to go. Your front yard is incredibly beautiful and almost has me wanting to experience the snow first hand. Back before I couldn't walk half a block without pain, I was hankering to go on a tour of Yellowstone National Park in winter. Just may do it next winter.

Poppet You're having summer now, aren't you? Your beach house sounds wonderful, and how nice that there's a boardwalk for your NW. I'm going to Sanibel Island for a few days next month---I hope it won't be too cold, but I didn't get there this past summer (hip) so I just have to go.

Pugfugly I can understand your daughters not wanting you to walk like an orangutan. I hope they don't object to your hairy feet, and no shoes. But then, they are hobbits, too, aren't they? Heehee. It was a three cat night here. It should warm up later, and I'm going to a Christmas play this afternoon, and then dinner. I'm sorry to hear the shire is having cold rain, and don't blame you for snuggling down into your hobbit hole with a hot cuppa.

bellaroma darn! is missing in action again, but I doubt she's hibernating.

sissy46 yes, we are in summer, it is warm and tropical at the moment, even though we don't live in the tropics.. A very wide storm front has been hanging around for over four hours now.. Thunder, lightening, heavy rain.. and heat.. I am packed in ice, not because I am sore, but because it is HOT...

Don't tell me darn! Is MIA again.. Come on girl, time you realized you are recovering joint replacement patient :) time to take it easy..

I knew her OS should not have introduced her to Steve so soon.. Hmmmmm! [Bonesmart.org] Sissie's recovery

Not happy Jan!!

That is a very famous ad over here.. Often use it on SO..

Hi All! Steve and I have not run off together...we are freezing our butts off down here. It was soooo cold. I put my heat on and got out the electric blanket to stay warm. My poor little puppies were not having any love for the great outdoors.

Sissy, what are you doing for the holiday? Going anywhere? Going to commune with nature?

The family has asked me to make some homemade lasagna for Christmas dinner...gladly as that is way less work than usual.

Hope the weather warms up for us!
Tammy

darn! How did you guess? Yes, I'm going kayaking all day Christmas with my brother, then over to some other relatives' house for a while. Today went to a Christmas play and dinner (excellent lasagna.) Tomorrow a friend is passing through town and we're going out to lunch.
It was a 3 cat night last night. They are just pitiful, all compact in meatloaf position, feet tucked in, tail wrapped tight. It isn't that cold:rolleyes:

Sissy, I wonder if the pop was an adhesion releasing? Anyway, glad it all turned out well! The pix are amazing as usual. Have a great Christmas kayak trip. We will be having roast beast.

I don't know, nerdgrrl, but that was last Thursday and my hip has not complained since. It just feels "normal," even when I first get up to walk. My left knee was achy last night, but that may be because the boots I wore yesterday have a 3" heel. I'm usually in flat sandals or sneakers or hiking shoes, so that's probably why. My knees aren't great...hope I don't ever have to have anything else replaced....

Merry Christmas, and enjoy your roast beast!

Enjoy that Christmas kayaking trip Sissy. Sounds like fun...but be sure to bundle up.

So what's up with the 3" heels yesterday? Were you all dressed up for something? Inquiring minds want to know?
