Well, have arrived @ hospital. Got a call yesterday telling me to get here @ 6:30 am because they wanted to type & cross-match my blood since they knew I had antibodies. So here I am waiting in Admissions lobby with hubby &daughter for next step. Oh, here it is -- signing some forms. God knows what just agreed to! More to come. Feeling calm... Really.

Status update. Finished pre-op stuff. Waiting to c anesthesiologist & OS. Will ask for happy juice.
Ah -- OS just in to sign thigh. Assured me of good things. We asked how long it would be -- he said 1 or 2 hours, or at least would feel like that to hubby. Said because of extra flesh, needs more time to sew up. You thin people have it made! Stay tuned.

Update: still waiting!! Anesthesiology finally came. After usual history, we discussed GA vs spinal. Said spinal ok as long as Coumadin (clotting time) level is ok. She would check the labs to see. Guess what!?? That test hadn't been done!! She was a bit perturbed & said if she were surgeon, she'd sure want to know this before operating. So... They got the OS who came to my cubicle & seemed VERY perturbed @ this oversight. Anyway, lab has come back for more blood & am now in waiting mode. Again. Nurses have been FAB! One just brought hubby coffee & a warmed blanket from recovery room.

I remember being very calm and amused by all the preop stuff. And they kept me pretty comfortable post surgery, so that went well too. I wish the same for you, Ellen. You're on your way and I'm terribly excited for you.

Wow another wait! When I got to the hospital they told me they had to draw blood and do all my blood tests because they hadn't been done. Luckily I had brought along a copy of the results because somehow the hospital didn't get them from the doctors office. And I didn't need to have any blood drawn again. Hope the wait is over soon and nothing else comes up!
