I used a portable WiFi device (when I was eventually able to string two words together, lol). It got around not having WiFi in my room - another option to consider?

Yes check with your hospital. Sometimes they put they have wifi in the family room. I also took my handheld in case I could not get connected. It will all work out and before you know it, you will be doing all those things you've wanted to do!

My Ipad has wifi and cellular on it; I am so attached to it, literally it would add to the frustration to not be able
to use it. I will definitely ask.... thanks for your answers.

@shrinkette How are you doing? You are much in my thoughts as you get close to your date. I hope you have a supply of books in to read during your recovery. I hope you are beginning to feel a bit of calm settle in! I know you'll be so glad when it is over.

Love,

Milli

Hey, you guys! Had an excellent calm day yesterday. Today, I seem to be vibrating & up tight. Hubby is showing some strain, not helped by his back pain problem from last week. Either from stress, pain, age, something -- his memory is not so hot now & I'm not very patient, being so wrapped up with My thing. He just came back from grocery, upset because he thought he lost his AMEX card! It's found, but it takes a toll on both of us when we're both so stressed. Keys, cell... seems like every day it's something. Sorry for babbling. Just upset. He's also worried, although he keeps reassuring me that all will be well. But still... He's always been a ROCK as well as physically strong.

Vetgirl, 3 more sleeps, actually. Technically.

MajorHeidi & Charmed-life, When I had knee done, I had cell & iPad with me constantly. No problem. Can't live without 'em.

Butterfly - Milli, my iPad's loaded with latest best-sellers by all my favs! Got enough to last for a looooong time.

Starting to pack tomorrow. Had intended to pack separate larger bag in case of a rehab, but don't think I will. My mind won't shut down... Just buzzzzzzing. Exhausted. Love u all.

@shrinkette, your husband sounds like mine. Harry panics easily. Things WILL be ok for both of you and before you know it you will be wondering what all the fuss was about. Take care sweetie and things will be fine! Oh and things are "moving"here today so another woohoo.

Ooh sounds like our house !! Stress we used to cope with seems so much worse at the mo with my pain and grumpiness !!! Lots of best wishes @shrinkette you'll be posting on the post op thread before you know it

Thanks to everybody for your good wishes & comforting comments. Wish I could tell you I'm cool as a cucumber, but I can't. Again, hubby is trying to cope with pain of a pulled muscle/arthritis in his side. He's not at all used to pain. So... He's not as much "there" for me as he usually is, and I'm wrapped up in myself while trying now to deal with him & HIS needs. I sound so selfish! Maybe the Tramadol was making him a little confused.. Don't know. I suggested that he discontinue Tramadol & see if that made a difference. He wasn't any worse, so he's using Tylenol 1,000 mgs 3x/day & isn't constipated now. Why all this to you guys? I guess because it's on my mind & I'm feeling a little out of control. Forgive me, BS family. Just not myself right now. Sense of humor seems to have disappeared for the moment.

Still anxious that my lift chair won't come as promised & that I'll have no good place to put myself @ home.

Tramadol can definitely cause some behavior/personality changes. Probably good to be off it if he is ok with Tylenol.

@shrinkette, this is for you honey.....

Hey @shrinkette - I've not had the pleasure of meeting you but I can tell from your posts that you are a smart and resourceful woman. I haven't had my THR yet but I know from previous surgeries that the waiting is the worst bit. You'll be just fine with or without the chair, and regardless of how your hubby is feeling. You can do this , and soon you will be out the other side wondering what all the fuss was about and having completely forgotten how bad the waiting was. Not long now girlfriend xx

@shrinkette. Selfish you are not....you have justifiably high levels of anxiety exacerbated by the problems you have dealt with amazingly well. You are in the zone and cannot deal with anyone elses's problems ...it's self preservation!! You always write such positive posts to everyone and this is just a small blip n confidence ( which I'm sure we have all felt)..... Before the op I felt like I wanted to shut the world out and just think about myself. Your hubby is probably tense as well which won't help his pain. Only a couple of days and this will all be behind you....I'm sure your chair will arrive and be in place for your recovery....however....I just rested in bed...had no probs getting in or out at all. Hold on...you are nearly there! Thinking of you..Chrissie x

Oh @Hoppy Nanny You sure did nail this one. Made me cry a little, too. Good to know the bed will suffice, if I can "ascend". You seem to know exactly what I'm feeling. Hubby's issue couldn't have come at a worse time & I think that Tramadol is screwing him up. He was only on it for 6 days! And you're right -- his tension & stress must surely be exacerbating his pain. I guess I'm worried he won't be able to help me get set up at home ... You are amazingly empathetic & I so value this post. ❤❤❤

@betty coltrane thanks for the nice post. Wish I was feeling more myself today, but you already know why. I hope I'm as resourceful as you give me credit for. I'm sure we'll be chatting in days to come. Don't know date of your THR, but do hope you're not suffering too much right now.

@charmed-life Thanks for your comment about Tramadol. Since he went 11 hours without it & wasn't worse, I suggested the switch to Tylenol. He's not much better, but not worse. He sounds a bit slurred to me, a little confused... I'm glad you think it was the right thing to do. He's very concerned, however, that it might NOT be, & insists we talk to the doctor tomorrow. I tried to make him understand that he doesn't HAVE to continue it... It's not like an antibiotic you must finish. I'm right, aren't I? Gosh, this is wearing me out! I really appreciate your comment, Pat. ❤❤

What does everyone do about charging phones & tablets in the hospital? Cable certainly can't extend between device & somewhere on a hospital wall behind bed. What am I missing?

Sorry for the repetitive post about hubby above... Not thinking straight.
