THR Seeing the Light!

@NanaKP Oh man I am so sorry you have had so many hiccups!!!! I hope you have not been too discouraged and have been able to maintain perspective.
Water classes would really appeal to me but doc doesn’t want me to do anything until I am walking on my own without assistance...sometime Nov/Dec according to his estimations (double darn!!!). Yeah, snow and ice will be here — winter is coming(!!!)— and I am trying not to think about it. The farthest I have gotten in letting myself go there is that yesterday I was musing that for the first time in my life I might hire someone to help with snow removal instead of doing it myself. And by “I might hire” let me clarify and say “I would be really really stupid not to hire”.

Sigh.

 Hope cabin fever and post op blues have been staved off ...
This is prime time for both of these lovely new hippy conditions.
(Was for me:oyvey:)
Yes, I think you will definitely want some winter help this year, but I'm guessing by next year you will be amazed at what you can do with new hips!
Have a great day!

Great news on the visit with the PA.
It sounds like you received a lot of worthwhile info in a short period of time.
It's always nice to leave those visits with the reassurance you're progressing as you should.
Also helps to hear you'll have ups and downs. Makes it easier to get through the low's when you're mentally prepared. You're doing great!
I hope you have a wonderful week. :)

Hi all. Here is my report which may or may not be a stupid, ODIC post. But time will tell.

Today I tried to stay on the couch as much as possible because I knew I had a ‘meeting’ tonight which I kinda sorta felt like I had to attend (and I have missed EVERYTHING so far). I am 5 weeks today. Yes, I made cookies but otherwise I was really, really resting.

Then at 6 pm I went outside with the walker...got into the car and started it. I drove 10 minutes to my meeting...sat in a chair for an hour, got back into the car, stopped at a store for five minutes (again, with walker) got into car and drove home. Now walked down the 15 stairs again, put on pj’s and got into bed. Now we will see during the night and tomorrow if I ‘did too much’ but MAN OH MAN I had serious cabin fever.

So we will see. That’s today’s report.

Fingers crossed. :shocked::shocked::shocked:

@lovesstars Sounds like progress! Don't prematurely put yourself in the ODIC mentally - it's kind of a Peter Pan type thing, if your mind believes you're going there, the body will follow. Or something like that, haven't actually watched that movie in a while.

Hope your outing left you no worse for the wear.
We all need a change of scenery for sure!
Hope today is a Good Day !

Hi @lovesstars
I hope you slept well and are feeling okay today.
Everything takes more effort in early recovery, therefore tiring us more quickly.
Our body's energy supply isn't limitless. So when we're in healing mode after major surgery
our energy will be used for healing first, not leaving a great reserve for all the other activity of daily life.

It's crazy how you wouldn't have given the activity you described above a second thought before your hip began deteriorating. In a way, you have to marvel at how our body says - No, no, no, you will not be doing that and getting by without suffering repercussions.

You're doing well, keep it up. I hope you have a lovely day.

Thanks, @Layla . Was up around 4 when pain meds wore off. Decided to just get up, dress, tea, coffee, everything. Been icing a couple of hours now. Everything will be fine.

Enjoy your day! Thanks for checking on me!

Hi all. Hope you find this since I am not really tagging anyone.
So...I have been quiet the past number of days. My mom (recovering from a stroke last year) has come to see me from LA. I don’t think she is safe in my house. I nixed the idea of her coming after my surgery for weeks...and then I wore down...of course she was complaining about it but also — as a mom — I understand that it is hard to be 2000 miles from your kid who had surgery...even if the kid is as old as I. She is unsteady walking and refuses a cane/walker/all of it. It is making me frantic.

Additionally, I have been taking care of her because she cannot take care of herself. She cannot get her own tea/coffee/toast/dinner, use all the stairs in my house safely, etc.
(hitting a website firewall here and can barely post....more....)

(darn guys -- I cannot post the rest of my message...keep getting FIREWALL error message)

(Help! I cannot write anything else because I get a firewall preventing me if I write more than one sentence!)
