THR Second one - hope it's better than the first

@Layla yes it's not very pleasant! I remember when it first happened I thought I had ms! Will speak when I am done x

Good luck with the surgery Bevlah! If you are looking for company during your convalescence, come and check out the OCC -- the Overly Cautious Club, presently parked on my recovery thread. 1stSurgery, Bickypeg and I are taking the rest & heal cure, mulling over the club manifesto and otherwise plotting to take over the world. We are an international organization with members in the UK, Canada and the US. At last count we had 4 members, but this figure changes daily.

I too will be facing a second THR, but the timing is uncertain. A couple of weeks ago I was toying with the idea of asking for a September 2018 date, and getting all this convalescing/resting over 'at once' ('at once' defined by OCC means "over the course of six months or so"). But recently I decided against it; I will wait until the hip joint signals me with pain and disability.

Only a couple more days of mental torture @Bevlah .....just as well we only have two! Everyone says no two hip recoveries are the same, so hope this one will be totally different and a wonderful success for you. I'm 5mths out with my first, and am still having aches and pains, some of which seem totally random and have just started up (like deep aches in bum and outside thigh if I sit for long) but some of the earlier one seem to have gone, sometimes it feels like the saying about grey hairs....pull one out and two grow back! I'm sure we will get there eventually, slower than some but faster than others. I've never had a MRI but can imagine how claustrophobic it must be....never heard of an open scanner but hope they can rustle up one for you if you need it! Fingers crossed for an easier recovery this time round :fingersx:

You know how much I want this to go well for you, dear Bevlah!:friends:
I know it's scary but you will do beautifully and I'm sending all the best mojo your way!:roseshwr:

Thanks guys you are all such a comfort. Feel quite scared..... It's like having a baby, the first one you are excited and think it can't be that bad? The second one you go in knowing exactly what it's like!!!!!! It's gotta be done so I best get on with it! @anny yes I am now 7 months out and still the first one aches and it now has to step up and be the good one! I can't wait to get this done and dusted and get my life back. My first grandchild is due at the end of August and I want to be a fit nana to be able to look after him.

Nana Bevlah! How wonderful?
Do you know if it's a girl or boy?
You will be a wonderful Nana I think.:) :-) (:

@Mojo333 ha ha I am going to be called nanabev and its a boy! It's been a bit of a rocky ride (nothing seems to be simple in my life!) My son and his gf were living abroad fast forward she is back home pregnant and he is still there. Hey ho can't have it all but luckily I am happy about the baby even if he isn't! Kids eh??

Nanabev. Wow!
Yep, I reckon life doesn't always go as planned...but babies have no choice in that.
Please be good to yourself this weekend and eat light...good stuff.
You know we will be here and once this one is done things can start finally moving forward.
:yes!:

Good luck tomorrow NanaBev-to-be......don't bother having the collywobbles cos I'm having more than enough for both of us :umm::heehee: Hope all goes well and no 1 decides to man up

A new hip and a new grandbaby soon. How wonderful!
Thinking of you today. Hope you're all ready to roll tomorrow.
You know we'll be here waiting for that first post. No pressure :heehee: Post when you're able.
Wishing you comfort as you await tomorrow.
You'll do great, you're a pro now!
@Bevlah

Ha ha the trouble with the bed pan was I kept missing and weed everywhere. One top tip for anyone awaiting an op, get a nightie!!! Dragging my pyjama bottoms back up was exhausting. Been on crutches today. Managed to do it but again was overcome with dizziness. Day 5 tomorrow so need to get a handle on it as I really want to go home
Hi @Bevlah,
Re the pyjamas. I took a knee length silk kaftan into hospital with me and used it as my mightdress. Everyone said how great it was as it slid me in and out of bed. Will definitely take the same thing when I have my next one done.

@Bionic seriously now you tell me!! What a great idea but too late now I am afraid as I leave for the hospital in less than an hour! Seriously good idea for other pre hippies though so thanks for sharing

@anny collywobbles love it! Feeling sick and anxious but I just want this over with! Speak when I am done

Hope you don't have to wait too long at the hospital although all the pre-op stuff filled the time for me. I will be looking out for you post op.

I arrived at the (private) hospital at 7.30 only to be told there were no rooms ready so along with everybody also being admitted had to go to the day patient unit where we all sat together. The partners of each patient were given coffee and biscuits whilst we sat and rumbled and grumbled having had no breakfast. Once I had seen the surgeon I was told to quickly change into the gown and was off to theatre at 9.15. I barely had a chance to say goodbye to my husband! The first time I saw my room was later that day and didn't see the bathroom until the next when the physio got me up. I hope by now you are in the land of nod, blissfully unaware of what's going on.

Thinking of you and will be glad when you are all done @Bevlah.
Sending healing hugs in advance.
You've got this!:friends:

Thinking of you, Bev.
Hope you're resting comfortably.
Will look forward to your first post.
Hugs
@Bevlah

@Bevlah

Praying all goes smooth for you and you're able to
Be up and around soon.
Every hip is different. Similar but different.
It's nice to know "kind of" what to expect second time around.

:hi: hope your pain is managed and I know you are happy to be done!
Sending lots of having mojo your way!:roseshwr:
