THR Second one - hope it's better than the first

Hope you have a better day today and don't let PT make you do anything that makes you uncomfortable!

Hi Bev re physios - it's always your call, it was your hip your op, just do what you can in your own time. Ask them if they have gone through what you've been thru. I wouldn't think twice about them, this is your time.
Hope you have a better day, it does get easier honest.

Hi all. Had a much better day yesterday! The joy of managing to shuffle to the loo and not have to endure the bed pan. Every day I get a bit stronger although any small activity does zap your strength. Feel much more confident today that it's going to be alright. Should be out tomorrow yaayyy

Each day will get easier @Bevlah ! Don't fight the energy drain - just rest every chance you get. Safe journey home today.

Energy drain is so real @Bevlah. It was one of those things when I heard about it, I thought I knew what it meant. When I experienced it, it was so much more! It’s like you are fine, then someone pulls your plug and there is no power.

Since you are in UK, not sure if you are hoping to go home Sunday or Monday. Either way, hope today brings more little signs of improvement.

Glad you are feeling some better.
You need all the rest you can get...and little things can really wear you out, I remember!
Rest and ice are what you need now anyway.
At least you are on the getting well side now.:tada:

So happy to hear you’re on the bright side! Yes, that energy drain will continue but get less and less each day. Our bodies are amazingly good at recovery :)
Remember to ICE more than you ever dreamed you’d ice!
Best,
Patrikya

Hi @Bevlah
Wonderful news to read you are feeling better. Regaining our independence is so freeing.
It's awesome to simply feel appreciative that you no longer need a bedpan.
I recall so many times in early recovery being thankful for simple everyday things I took for granted before they became difficult. You're going to do great!

Below is a little refresher on Energy drain.....it's real!

Oh no, the bedpan! I had forgotten that torture :scaredycat:

Ha ha the trouble with the bed pan was I kept missing and weed everywhere. One top tip for anyone awaiting an op, get a nightie!!! Dragging my pyjama bottoms back up was exhausting. Been on crutches today. Managed to do it but again was overcome with dizziness. Day 5 tomorrow so need to get a handle on it as I really want to go home

Your dizziness can be a reaction to meds, the trauma of the procedure or low BP. Just move slowly and always have some sort of walking aid. Are you taking any medication for high blood pressure by any chance?

Home is so much nicer. You certainly got in hospital time @Bevlah! Make sure they give you meds before ride home. Good luck getting settled in.

Yep I had 4 nights but today I feel confident and the pain is better. Can't wait to get home. My 21 year old son has taken time off uni for a few days to settle me in as my partner is a teacher. In the hip department I was unlucky but I am a very lucky mum
