@MajorHeidi I did have the stiffness anytime I sat still for too long, in fact still do to some degree. But it as well as other little niggly aches have gotten so much better.Glad you are doing so well!!

@AndisMom Hope you enjoy the aqua classes. They make moving so much easier and has helped me so much with my ROM. Let me know how it goes.

@Dmcfad2 Thanks, hope you are doing good as well.

@mystikfairy61 I'm curious if your swimming suit bothers your incision area at all? I want to get back in the water as soon as I can, but I know the leg part of my suit will sit on my incisions. Not sure if they make suits that won't bother them. I really miss swimming.

Mine hasn't bothered me at all. It is just a normal swimsuit, nothing high cut on the sides or anything like that, LOL. It felt so good to be in the water too. I hope you are able to enjoy the same thing soon.

Went to ortho today for follow up with my left knee. Ended up having a cortisone injection that my OS hopes wil hold my knee off for 3-6 months. Xrayed hip said it looked great!! Have to see him back in 3 months. Will see how it goes from there I guess. So I may have to be on the knee roster this fall. But when you gotta, you gotta. Not gonna worry about it now.

Really all in all I feel really good, 3 months out this last Tuesday!! Going to the Y, working out in the yard, feels great!! I had know for quite a few years that the knee would have to be done and I will when it becomes necessary. BUT for now I am enjoying my new hip. My walk is pretty normal considering the knee issue. My OS is keeping an eye on it for me, so I feel that when the time comes he will do a wonderful job on it as well. I am so glad you are doing well and hope that the range of motion continues to improve. :loveshwr:So glad that I was the one that helped you make what was probably the best decision of your life!! It makes me feel good to know that!! I too get up and feel my age instead of the 30-40 years older. :wowspring:Ahhh the miracle of modern medicine!!

We are moving into our new home and I have made several trips with various items. So today my hip is a little sore so I am icing this evening to stave it off so I can get this done over the next few days.

Congratulations on your new home! That is exciting. Sounds like you know how to handle your hip. I'm sure the ice will help. :ice:

Donna, a new home! Awesome!!!
I am sure you are over the moon!
Don't work too hard on the move, okay?
Enjoy your new home. :loveshwr:

Oh wonderful news....so exciting...a new hip and a new home....Feeling awesome...I think I could walk 100 miles.....lol....but I won't....A new beginning....there's no place like home.........:loveshwr:

Well the knee is getting the best of me and I had to go back to OS and we have decided to go ahead with knee replacement. The same doc that did my hip will do my knee so I am extremely relieved about that. Haven't got date yet but will get a call when it is scheduled, so I will begin posting on knee side as well. The pain in my left knee is doing the same thing on the left side as the hip did on the right. The right hip made my knee and low back hurt on that side, and now the left knee is causing the left hip and low back to hurt. I have had the left hip looked at and it has only minimal arthritis so that is a good thing. Feel free to try to find my post on the knee side to keep up with me if you would like. Here's hoping that this will take care of things so all can begin the process of healing together. Otherwise the new hip is doing marvelous!!

@mystikfairy61. Glad your hip doing well....sorry about your knee problems and your upcoming surgery.....how do you feel about having another surgery? I've had a problem with my operated knee since my RTHR ( never before) and the surgeon & physio said it was pre op gait & surgery trauma and that it would go....however, it's still very painful...I'm burying my head in the sand a bit but will have to get a scan and see what's going on.....like you my hip is fantastic!! Will catch up with your posts on the knee side. How is your new home? Hope you've settled in well....Chrissie xxx

Chrissie I am actually ok with having the knee done. I have had problems with it for almost 20 yrs so this was no surprise, in fact I have known for a long time that this was coming just wasn't sure when. I only wish that the knee problem was my gait but this is on the opposite side of my hip. My knee is almost complete bone on bone, so getting this done is not something I want to wait on, don't want to deal with the kind of pain I had with the hip. Things are going well in the new home, we have put in new vanity in the master bath and just a few touches here and there. Otherwise we are really enjoying it, so much more room than my previous one. By the way, here is my thread on the knee side https://bonesmart.org/forum/threads/upcoming-knee-replacement-no-date-yet.25353/ Thanks for asking about it and continue to pray that this is as easy for me as my hip was.

It's good that you have come to terms with having the knee done @mystkfziry61.... My twin sister had hers done in January and Is doing well....she's waiting for a date to get her other knee now.....with look at your knee postings now.....hope you get your date soon & glad your house is just what you wanted! Ok well here I am at 6 months post op. Things are going well in my opinion. The only things that are still a problem are that I don't have quite the ROM I would like and when doing things like putting on a pair of jeans etc I have a little trouble lifting the leg high enough. But other than that there is no pain at all. Only a small amount of stiffness if I sit too long but after a step or two things move wonderfully. If by the time I reach my 9 month mark in Nov if I am still not getting the ROM or strength I am going to look into maybe doing a little more PT to build up my strength and work on my ROM. There has never been one moment that I regret having this done. I can get out and mow our entire lawn or do a 45 min aerobic class with no problems from the hip, however the left knee is now an issue as some of you know. But that will be taken care of a little later on. All in all to anyone who is second guessing having this surgery done, for me is has been life changing. I no longer have to decide whether or not I can do something based on how my hip pain is, because it is GONE!! :egypdance: I have been trying to catch up and see how everyone is doing. Sorry about not being here as much as but I promise I think of each of you often and hope all is well. I will do my best to get back to give more support to others as was given to me before and after my surgery. For that I am truly grateful to all of you!!

Great update @mystikfairy61 ! That stiffness will continue to ease. It can take awhile to regain some of the ROM. Just keep working at it. So glad you are doing well!

I no longer have to decide whether or not I can do something based on how my hip pain is, because it is GONE!! :egypdance:

I loved your whole update but especially the part I quoted above -- I am still working on deciding whether to have my other hip done and, as yesterday was a very bad hip day, that very same thought kept running through my head --- I kept feeling the NO PAIN in my left hip that is all better and I keep automatically deciding whether I can do something or not based on how my right hip pain is!

Hello Friend!!! So glad to hear that that hip is treating you good. I can do everything Donna...I don't think of my hip anymore....Geez its so nice to live a normal life free of pain. Its wonderful..:yay: The only thing that I experience is like when you bend down on both knees ..like if you cleaning...Its a little struggle to get up. So I know the hip is still healing.....a little weak. But AHHHHH NO PAIN...I go to the gym...ride my bike I do everything!!!! .I hope you are well and happy in your new home...pretty soon you will be a new woman with a new hip and knee...I think of you always:friends:..wish we were neighbors...lol..Enjoy the rest of the summer...I will keep in touch.,,be well and happy....Peace..XO:SUNsmile:
