Tessa - I hope the birthday party went off successfully and that you were able to relax and let others help you. I know you delegated the birthday cake and cookies but I'll bet you had lots of folks willing to help with the party itself. I'm praying your knees feel better after a bit of rest but I repeat the advice of others here. If they aren't improving definitely let your OS know.

Thanks Lori, the party was fun and the kids had a great time, my little boy most of all. I had lots of help and hubby stayed as well and helped out. My boy will be 4 tomorrow...or as he says, 8 minus 4! :)

I have a drs appointment this coming Wednesday....hoping that the knee is fine by then and it will all be for naught...the knee is still very wonky, its weird feeling like its loose?

I love that 8 minus 4! LOL! I'm glad you have an appointment with the doctor. I hope he tells you everything looks okay; that you just need to baby the knees for awhile. A little TLC never hurt anyone.

Osteopenia...I was told I had this but have had no test done!...Also that yes my knee was hurt and that I should go back in a couple of months when my regular OS is back! ...Back from where? Je ne sais pas!!!! Waste of time?!! Yes? So I will just carry on with my now wonky knee and hope that is stops giving way on me (which happens now at least a couple of times a day)!!! Oh and I have to take calcium twice a day and go out in the sun....

My little girl had her finger nipped, squashed, caught, in the school door yesterday, poor little pinkie, its all bruised and and a cut on it. I had to go get her from school but she went back in the afternoon, went to gym class and stayed after school for basketball, she is a tough cookie....keeping an eye it much to her chagrin, lol! She is so much like someone I know....:heehee: !

My little guy had a fun birthday too, and the family dinner went well except no one helped out with the dishes afterwards or the clearing of the table....yes I asked! The main thing was, my little guy had a great day!!!!

It sounds like your daughter is a chip off the old block!:snork: I hope her finger heals quickly. And I'm outraged that no one helped you with the dinner clean-up! What were they thinking! :hissy: Try to take it easy until you can consult with your regular OS. I don't know what osteopenia is, did they explain it?

FYI, Osteopenia is a condition where bone mineral density is lower than normal. It is considered by many doctors to be a precursor to osteoporosis. However, not every person diagnosed with osteopenia will develop osteoporosis. More specifically, osteopenia is defined as a bone mineral density T-score between -1.0 and -2.5.

I have osteopenia, have had it for over 10 years. Take calcium and vitamin D daily for it---sunshine and strength training are also good for it.

Lori-M Like Judy said, :heehee: ! I was going to expand on what Osteopenia is when I got back home but its done now, lol! I haven't had a bone density test done so I don't if it can be diagnosed just from the x-rays I have had on my knees?

How has your knee been Lori, is it any better?

Because its my first time faced with this I am wondering should I consider going to the doctor and asking for antibiotics because of a sore throat? I have had this for a couple of days and wondering am I jumping the gun and being silly....both my kids and I have this nasty cold, sore throat thing on the go...its not fun for sure! Its not the cold that concerns me, I know there is nothing to do for that but ride it out! <<<<<that's not crying that's blowing a nose, hahahaha!

You have a cold----antibiotics do nothing for a cold. It is not going to infect your knee. And you do not want to take antibiotics unless it is really necessary. You are worrying unnecessarily. Take a deep breath and RELAX. Just rest, plenty of fluids, and OTC cold remedies to ease yuckies--and let it run it's course---which it's going to do anyway no matter what you do.

Hope you and the kids are feeling much better soon---spring is just around the corner---so there's hope!!

Take care and keep us posted. We care.

The cold isn't what's been worrying me, its the sore throat, little white spots this evening...I know I am just probably worrying for nada! (bottomshollow love the dancing froggies...)!

I am trying to feel better, lol! The cold has settled into my chest now but my daughter assures me I will be feeling better tomorrow. :)

JustmeT.....I've merged your latest thread in with your recovery thread. We do like to keep all comments and questions pertaining to your recovery in a single thread. It makes it so much easier for us to go back and see what you've been through.

I would not think that fluid (swelling) would cause a grinding sound or feeling. But I'm going to tag Jo (the expert) so that she can comment. Josephine

Thought it might be! I think maybe the arthritis has progressed and you need to get it xrayed to see what's going on.

I have my next appointment with the OS in early July...just wanting your opinion, should call to try and get an earlier appointment or just let it go until July? I have been back and forth with myself on what to do...some days the knee feels ok and others it feels horrible.

Josephine

That's almost three months away. It depends how painful it is and how much it's cramping your style!
