Oh wow---I am so jealous, I love snow and we need some more for skiing!! K

I wouldn't be jealous Kelly (skigirl) cause with the snow comes all the shoveling and I have to do it all...now I would be jealous if I couldn't get skiing!

I have 100% (almost) ruled out getting any skiing done this season... !

Today is the first time in a long while that I said I wished I had something stronger than extra strength Tylenol to take for the knees! I think the fall hurt them more than I originally thought...I know I need to be more careful but I am not one given to falling but I didn't see the black ice there until I met it sorta face to face...:thud:. Its been 3 days now since I had that nasty fall, really really thought all would be well again by now.

Tessa, one of the unkindest things about not getting any younger is healing time increases for everything. And I'm willing to bet that you haven't been exactly taking it as easy as you should. Shoveling snow is not conducive to healing. This, too, shall pass---but not as quickly as you were hoping.

Take care and keep us posted. We care.

Tessa, maybe if your knee doesn't feel better by Monday you could call your OS so he could take a look at it! Worse that could happen is at least you would get some peace of mind that nothing serious is going on! Just a thought!
I hope you feel better soon kiddo!:console2:

bottomshollow I don't think it was the shoveling that has caused this maybe it has added a little to it but it was the fall I took that has them feeling like this. I get tired and sore from the shoveling but that only lasts a little while. My left knee has a sharp pain with every step I take and it feels a little wonky, the right knee just hurts, lol! I do have to agree with you though that, 'And I'm willing to bet that you haven't been exactly taking it as easy as you should.', because you are 100% correct! :umm: I did something to help myself today though, I farmed out the cake making and the cookie making to someone else..my son's birthday party is tomorrow (4th). I only have a few little things to do and that will be it, I made sure to not overdo it this one time, lol!

I am planning on doing just that Jacky, my husband said I must be hurting because I wished for strong pain meds and got someone else to make our son's b-day cake and cookies! I hate to ask for help, prefer to do it all myself, just because I can (or think I can)....:heehee: !

Glad you're taking it a bit easier today. It's ok to ask for help. If you don't feel improved in the next day or so I'd check in with your OS. Like Jacky said, just to make sure.

Tessa, I certainly hope your hubby was kidding, cause that comment would have gotten my hubby a very bad "evil eye" and probable a little self inflected pain! :heehee:

Jacky48

LOL, if he had meant it in that vein he would have been self-inflicting something! What he actually meant is that I can't take much of anything in the way of pain medication since before the 2nd pkr back in Oct. and for me to actually wish I had something he knew I was hurting. As for asking for help, yeah, I don't do that. :umm:  !

Lol! You're too funny! Our hubbies are lucky they have us, that's for sure! I'm a mess on medication too, that's why I got off as quickly as I could! I don't function well on heavy meds, I'm usually a mess, so I get off ASAP!

Have you ever found a pain med that works and don't leave you in a mess?

'Course our husbands are lucky to have us or is it lucky for the one's who don't? :rotfl:

Tessa, be sure to let us know what the OS says. That nasty spill on the ice and all the soveling gives me the chills! I am sure all is well, but as Jacky says, it will give you peace of mind.

Ya know Tessa I have never found a pain relief med! I have felt pain in my body for at least 30 years or more and when I feel less pain, I cherish ever moment! I got my BTKR thinking, this will fix it, but now it's my neck and I am seeing a chiropractor, and trying to avoid surgery on my neck! Tylenol and ibuprofen didn't cut it, muscle relaxers didn't do it and heavy duty drugs that I was taking for my BTKR didn't do it, so I must find another avenue! Hopefully the chiropractor will give my neck pain relief, than I would feel great! My knees feel great it's the rest of my body that has to come into check!

Jacky48 - if you don't find relief with the chiropractor may I suggest an acupuncturist? Mine did wonders for my neck and shoulder pain. The trick is finding one who is trained to properly read the body. Ask folks you know; chances are someone you know has an acupuncturist they love. I know some people think of acupuncturists and the needles involved and immediately shy away -- I was one of those myself. But my brother-in-law recommended my doctor and I was so desperate for relief I had to try it. I didn't even feel the needles, seriously. The relief was amazing!

Tessa - I hope the birthday party went off successfully and that you were able to relax and let others help you. I know you delegated the birthday cake and cookies but I'll bet you had lots of folks willing to help with the party itself. I'm praying your knees feel better after a bit of rest but I repeat the advice of others here. If they aren't improving definitely let your OS know.

Lori-M Thanks Lori, I certainly would consider acupuncture if this chiropractor can't help! I'm glad they were able to help you! I had know idea that acupuncture could help me in that way! Thanks again for your input, I appeciate it!:friends:
