[Bonesmart.org] Panic stations
@fulafoto, you certainly want to have full confidence in your surgeon, so waiting until later seems the way to go. Hope you're not planning to leave us in the interim. We can always use your input. I will take you off the May surgery list and look forward to putting you on the list when you get your new date.

We're all happy that we've been able to help and support you so far and will continue to be with you all the way through this journey. You can count on all your BoneSmartie friends.

Take care and keep us posted. We care.

Thanks so much @bottomshollow - no I don't have any plans of leaving all the wonderful people in the interim - you're all like a second family now - I'm hooked :loveshwr: and who knows who I may be able to help in some small way in their journey to THR

Fingers crossed I should have a date tomorrow :praying:

@fulafoto Here's hoping you will have your new date tomorrow. I believe I'd make the same decision to wait for my OS. With all of the emotion that's involved in this whole process having peace of mind is important. You've done all of the footwork ie: discussing, praying & consulting your GP - fingers crossed for an early July date (dare we hope for a June cancellation you can have?)

Hey Fulafoto! I followed your thread and wanted to say a few words, too. How is your hip feeling today? My right hip is killing me! When I go see the docs, any of them, I climb into the nearest wheelchair, it is so much easier on whoever can go with you to wheel you around than to follow you on crutches or canes or walkers IMO. It was hard for me to overcome my fear of getting in a wheelchair in public with me being such a macho man ex-athlete and all. Now I am glad for them to be nearby when visiting the doc.
Also, I made every excuse in the book to put off THR for the last two years. Moved my office in my home. Asked my children to go to grocery store for me. Stay in the house for days saying I can beat this on my own. I am so glad I had surgery on April 9 and again I will go on June 9. Hoping the best for you, too...

Hi Bill @waterman1 - feeling not too bad today thanks for asking - sorry your in so much pain, it's not pleasant at all is it. Thanks for your insight into using a wheelchair, it really does help a lot and I reckon you made the right decision in having the surgery - good on you and hope the June 9 surgery goes well for you as well mate!

Thanks also for your reply to my thread - I do appreciate it as well as your kind wishes.

Cheers,
Bill

It's been a roller coaster month for you Bill @fulafoto....I think you and your DW have made the right decision now and that's always good to get out of the way....hoping your new date comes soon. That 4.30 sunrise sounds good!! Cheers Chrissie xxx

Fulafoto, you betcha it was a good decision. I recommend you stay focused on what a privilege and opportunity it is to be able to have this surgery. Not everyone can...

@waterman1 oh I do fully acknowledge the privilege of having the opportunity to be able to walk again without walking aids - the wonders of modern medicine astound me at times and to think that replacement parts can be used in the human body truly is incredible - and with such success as we are experiencing in joint replacement.

I also acknowledge and appreciate the fact that I live in a country that has the experience and expertise to successfully undertake these surgeries - I know there are many in third world countries that will never have this wonderful opportunity and will live their lives with unimaginable disabilities due to their geographic location - even today I heard that polio is making a comeback in Pakistan which is so sad.

My current focus is almost entirely on rehabilitation and recuperation at some time in the future when I have the opportunity to have this life changing surgery.

Cheers, Bill

Great choice Bill @fulafoto I know how hard it has been for you missing out on the surgery and now having to wait all over again. I think you made the right decision as hard as the waiting may be.

Hang in there xxx

Gosh my friend, what an emotional rollercoaster you have been on. I agree to go with your gut and research, July isn't that much longer, you will hold it together. Miss you, stay strong Bill it will be okay.

Hi Bill @fulafoto, it sounds like you've made a wise decision and your GP has your best interests at heart. I hope you get a new date soon that you can look forward to. Thinking of you, Gill :)

Hey @GaRosehippy thank you so much Roseann for your kind comments and support  it really means a lot xx

Thanks also @miaow27 Gill - I am feeling better about my decision every day :tada:xx

@Sue629 Thanks also Sue - wouldn't it be something special if I got a present for your birthday:yes!: or if it came forward an extra 3 days (June 26th) it would be a 34th wedding anniversary present :snork: xx

Hi Bill, sounds like you made a good group consensus about what would be best for you.
Its just a little more time, but good things come to those who wait.

I have a concern that I am hoping @Josephine May be able to advise on please Jo. As you are probably aware I am bearing minimal weight on my affected leg using crutches full time. I have noticed today that just above my knee around towards the outside of the thigh it feels like I have a massive bruise however there is no marks on my skin at all. It is not the sort of pain that is seriously affecting me but was wondering if it could be something I should get seen to
Thanks, Bill
