Hi Bill @fulafoto so glad you got someone who could actually answer some of your questions and that your surgeon is pedantic. I agree with Poppet....you want someone like that

So what does lots of room mean @Poppet and Bill?

Hi Sally and Bill - in my case because I knew I had to have complex surgery with lots of bone grafts and a collapsed acetabulum that had forced its way into my pelvis having more room to see and move within the surgical site helping my surgeon in many different ways. @Vetgirl

I also had a cyst Bill, so another reason for more working space :)

@fulfafoto.....We will have matching scars :rotfl::heehee: as I am having a posterior approach...though I will get staples I am thinking i rather have glue from what i read...lol Glad you got your questions answered that is always a bonus. Heading for my pre-testing this morning....cross the fingers and toes all goes well...then escaping to Maine couple days.....always all my best my friend :) Sue

@fulafoto Oh wow Bill, what a great appointment. I'm so happy that you were able to meet with someone who could give you the information you were seeking. My THR is posterior-lateral with glue and I couldn't have wished for a better or easier recovery. All the best to you, the finish line is within sight now.

So @Sue629 - I'll show you my scar if you show me yours :snork::snork: yes I wont mind the glue I think however I have had staples in a small head wound previously and they really honestly did not hurt at all going in or coming out. Hope you have a super time away :dancy:
@teakea66 - thanks so much for your kind wishes. Your super recovery given the same approach and glue gives me even more optimism

Hey Bill.........yippee a week away, so glad it is finally coming closer. I had a cyst on my right hip. As long as your OS is a perfectionist your posterior position should be wonderful. I can't wait to see the final result. Hopefully they will get to work on the other hip ASAP! I am sure you have everything ready to go. Will be thinking of you as the time arrives, well you will be on my mind even more!

Had my pre testing today. all went well. No news good news. X-rays went well she said this might hurt and was only a lil laying flat on back. Then had to bring knee up and open up as far down as I could. She said I'm lucky I'm still pretty flexible. (Luckyhubby). I said. We laughed. Did a get away to Maine over nite. Change scenery does a world of
good and the ocean so calming.

Excellent @Sue629 do you have your own thread?

Not long now either Bill

Thanks @Poppet - today I am actually feeling excited about it all and by this time next week I will have a brand new shiny hip!!!!
@GaRosehippy - Thank you so much Roseann - I am raring to go here! Just wish it was tomorrow - what do they say "Lord give me patience - right now!" From what I hear of my OS he certainly is very fussy which is just what I want!
@Sue629 - Hey Sue - glad you're through your pre-op and really hope you get the all clear on all the tests!
@Vetgirl - No not long at all Sally!!!!

We had my youngest grandson's Baptism in Brisbane today (about a 3-4 hour drive) we went down yesterday and came home this evening and stayed with our son and his girlfriend.
Well I can tell you the operation can not arrive quickly enough. I had about 2-3 hours sleep and have been in really pain for the past 2 days through a combination of sitting in the car, sleeping on a bed that was low and not too comfortable and trying to get around during the party ofter the Baptism. The best thing was my lovely grandson, pictured here peek-a-boo with his Mother's (my daughter) pearls;

And here having his lunch;

And then the sunset as we drove home - absolutely spectacular;

So after my pain killers the pain is easing and I am tiring quickly so might head for bed now...

@fulafoto, I'm guessing that in spite of the pain, you had a really great day! Just three more days and pain really does end. The pics are just super---what an adorable grandson you have. I know he's a joy! And that sunset is to die for.

Take care, we care.

What a beautiful baby! And that sunset was spectacular!! Hang in there, just a few more days!
