Natalie,

I'm sorry to hear about your setback. I overdid it over the holidays, and I'm paying for it. It's very frustrating. I thought I would be in a better place by now. I can look back and see a lot of progress, but there is still a long way to go. I wonder if the years of SC make the recovery longer/more challenging for us.

I think one of the hardest things is when the people around you think you should be okay by now. I told people I couldn't overdo it during the holidays, but there was so much to do, and I overdid anyway. I'm trying to rest now, but there is still a lot that needs to get done. I hate having to ask my husband to do more than he is already doing.

On a positive note, after many months of skimping, I got my $4000+ medical bills paid off!

Keep us posted on things!

Rebecca, you bring up an excellent point. When you start moving around and doing things for yourself I think people around you start assuming you are just back to normal. NOT!

And then it is difficult to have to remind friends and family that you are only days/weeks/months out of major surgery:th_2tantrum2:. It's especially hard during the holiday season since you may be with people who have not followed your entire journey.

Rest and get back on track with your recovery. Things will get done in time. Let others help. Remember this is only temporary.

Great news on your medical bills! That must be a big relief!

I totally agree Rebecca when I told my mum I was resting as my knee was bad she said why is it bad now it's been months since the surgery!!I struggle to understand it myself let alone explain it someone else!

I have had a good think about what I did extra over the holiday period and the main days were the 26th and 27th December when we had friends over apart from that I've rested in between the Christmas and New Year period and hubby helped with all the cooking and cleaning.
I think it's so easy to do too much and until our joints scream stop I think we just get on with it!

Glad you have paid all your medical bills off Rebecca must be a huge relief:)

Jaycey I've upped my meds and unfortunately I'm taking the oramorph again.

Hi, Natalie. Sorry you're having a tough time again. I'm glad you are checking it out with your OS.

This knee recovery is such a long and twisting journey isn't it? One minute, I thought I was way ahead and doing great and then boom - a bump in the road!! I also have begun to have a lot of pain in the joint and more swelling than I have ever had before. My physio thinks I have overdone extension exercises and so she is giving me ultrasound treatments and I think they are beginning to help a little. She was reminding me about the little "gem" that says - to every action there is a reaction - just not necessarily the reaction we wanted - lol.

Hope you feel better really soon. I am only at 11 weeks, so I know I have a long way to go, but you deserve to be able to pick up your life and move on. Hope you have a great day. Maggie

Hi Maggie

It's a hard long road isn't it :(

I was so happy that I was doing so well and now I feel annoyed at myself in case it's something I have done!

Everytime I put my foot on the floor I get an exruciating pain across my kneecap it is very weird.

Sorry to hear you are experiecing pain hopefully it's just a passing problem!

Take care xxxx

Can only send you some more hugs, Natalie ((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))

Well, life is so not fair is it?

Just when we think we are getting on top of things and moving on, something happens to slap us down and send us back again!

I'll have good days and bad days, and the bad days are made worse by my foul mood caused by the nagging pain I get whenever I push too hard on my knee. (EVERY WEEKEND, and most days when I've been on my feet at work all day). I reluctantly turn back to the Percocet (oxycodone). I can't take Tramadol unfortunately, it messes my head up.

Alot of the time I can't even figure out what it is I did to water my knee off!

I slapped a brace on my knee when a few weeks ago it felt suddenly weak and I started the "flamingo leg". (Knee hyperextending).
Why did that happen? I haven't a clue but I'm starting to get used to my knee and its bipolar behavior.

Please hang on, this is a wild and crazy ride and we ain't driving!!!!

I am ahead of you BTW, and I also get the: "you had your surgery 9 months ago and you still have problems?" People just don't get it.

I then ask them how long it took for them to recover from THEIR knee replacement....I get a blank look and they get the message.

Stay positive.
Sandy

A bipolar knee! :rolf: Now I've heard everything!

Oh, Sandy! I just love your posts! I love the bipolar knee - what a great concept!! I sure agree with "the wild and crazy ride and we ain't driving"!!

How true and you always get right to the core of the matter. Every one of your posts make me feel so much better about things on this recovery road. Thanks for sharing, especially your wonderful humour.

Sandy you made me smile so thankyou for that :) I like the bipolar knee so true lol!!!

Oh yes I think I will reply with the same question about how long did it take you to recover from your knee replacement! That will shut them up!

Thankyou for the hugs Jo just what I need right now :)

If we don't laugh, we cry. Well, sometimes we cry anyway.:th_heehee:
Just keep on plodding along.

We need Dory in the Library! For instant cheer up click here! :rolf:

So I'm back from the hospital with a knee brace and news that my knee disease has returned and is causing the swelling and fluid build up!The knee brace is to support the whole knee as it feels "wobbly" his words and my muscles haven't become strong enough to support it so the brace will keep it in place.

So I'm to try it for 6 weeks and see how I go on and up my painkillers and try and find an anti inflammatory that doesn't iritate my stomach.

Aw Natalie, I am so sorry to hear this! I guess all you can do is try the brace :th_sigh:.

Did he give you any anti-inflammatory? I can't take anything except diclofenac but I have to take it with food.

((((((Hugs)))))) to you Natalie. We are here if you need to rant. I certainly wouldn't blame you if you did!

Natalie, I am sending oh so many positive thoughts your way!!!! That is a bummer!!!! You have overcome so much already on the recovery road, I just know this won't keep you down, sweetie. You get that pain under control and know that we are all here for you anytime you need some extra lovin'. (((((Hugs))))) Maggie
