Thanks guys. Because they have had a call from my surgeon to tell them they need to push me to 90 degrees in 3 weeks, they are just doing as they are told. I have never seen this PT before. My usual one is on holiday so hopefully next will be a bit better.

Natalie - why are you paying for the PT's anger with the consultant? Tell her to take it out on someone else! I hope she at least apologised! That's just horrid.

Take care of yourself today! Hope you aren't in too much pain! :cnsl:

I have been in absolute agony today and have been up to the hospital with my husband as he had an appointment about a problem he is having with his kidneys. They have found an abnormality on one after doing scans, so now he has to have lots of tests etc. It never rains but it pours eh?

Nat, so sorry to hear the news about both you and your husband. Know I am thinking about both of you and things just have to get better. Regarding your pain, you told me you are talking the equivalent of Tylenol, are you also taking a narcotic in addition? Take care,
Hugh

Presumably the surgeon is concerned that your progress isn't as good as he'd like. I'm guessing he didn't tell the PT to force your knee in this way, more like saying you need to be encouraged to make better progress. Messages get corrupted as they are passed on, don't they!. So having kicked this particular PT where it hurts, it still leaves the question of what to do to get this progress, which is needed.

My guess is that he'll be thinking of an MUA in the future. If it was my knee, I think I'd be raising the issue myself fairly soon.

Natalie,

I'm so sorry you had such a rough PT. It's no wonder you're having a lot of pain today. And, of course, having to be at the hospital doesn't help. I hope things are okay with your husband. My husband used to have a lot of problems with kidney stones (he still has 7 that we know of, but they have not caused problems and are being monitored), but once he was diagnosed with and treated for an auto-immune disease, he has not had any more troubles. He also started drinking more water, which he had not done before.

Please keep us posted on things! I'm thinking of you.

Actually, folks - if you've read Natalie's thread thus far, her surgeon (aka consultant) did say he was going to tell the physios to push harder. It was in that appointment where she waited for hours to be seen and then he was 'not very nice' to her!

And the physio wasn't angry - just doing as she was imstructed. Remember, Natalie's knee is complicated by Synovial Chondromalacia which shifts it out of the norm.

Natalie, you are doing so well. Such a very brave lady. I can't help thinking you are going to get there without the MUA. I'm praying so, anyway. For your husband too. You both could have done without that, eh?

God bless, sweetie. :thmb:

Sorry, Natalie, I'd forgotten your supplementary problem, whatever SC is!!! That's a problem with threads with 627 posts, we can't possibly keep track of it.

Listen to Jo, instead of me:doh:

Hi Natalie,

I am sorry to hear about your PT. It is hard when they are instructed to push your knee to 90 and your bend is no where near that yet!

I am also sorry to hear about your husband and I hope everything turns out well.

Natalie,

You keep me smiling, even though sometimes it is rough, you are always working to "keep your head above the water!":D

I will be going in next month to have a 3rd surgery done on this knee. This Specialist is going to get all of the MRSA out, debride the wound, wash it out, and put in a new knee! I won't have to wait and have a cement spacer. He has pioneered a whole new way on doing reconstructive knees.

I am just thankful that my original dr. recommended him! He is truly a remarkable surgeon after reading about all of the different things he has accomplished.
He only takes the "difficult" cases!:hehe:

Take care,

Natalie, dear....I hope things turn out okay with your husband. You certainly didn't need that extra worry! And God bless your spirit! You are one of the most determined and positive people I've seen. I truly believe you will get there in the way you want to....doctors and therapists be damned! Hang in there....you definitely have all of us in your cheering squad!!!

Please don't worry about the length of your thread. I have learned so much in just following your progress. I check in every day to see how things are going for you. I have a daughter about your age and I feel so badly that you are enduring all this at the prime of your life. At least when your recovery is over, you are young enough to really enjoy a full and active lifestyle with your beautiful famly.

I am so glad that you have received so much support from your family here on this site. The folks here are an awesome group aren't they? Take care and rest when you can.
