TKR Onwards and upwards - my journey continues

Hi Patrcia,

Sorry you have been getting the responses you have. There is no way anyone who has not had this surgery can fathom the challenge recovery brings. Thesepeople are completely clueless. I found that its as hard to manage others expectations as it is my own. I finally resorted to saying that when they have a TKR, then they will understand. Or I simply smile and say I appreciate their good wishes and move on.

Please be kind to yourself and rest when you can. Come here to the one place where we have all literally walked a mile in your moccasins! We care and relate to each feeling you have!

Enjoy your daughter and be well!

Dawn

Patricia I am so happy your daughter is home now! Maybe with future outings she can help pave your way so you can either stay home if you feel like it or you and she go, but come home after an hour instead of the lengthy outings you've been going on! I know once my daughter was around after my surgery, everything fell into place. She can stick up for you!
I wish I could drop by and shush up those <ignorant> friends who think you should be back to normal. Geesh! Anyway all is good now! Enjoy your time!!! :santaclap:

I LOVE my Bonesmart family. I have woke up today to some lovely posts and feel so much more positive. Having people know what you are going thru is better than anything else in the world. The best therapy ever. :thankyou:

Sorry to hear you are a bit down at the moment, Patricia. I completely get what you are saying, along with everyone else on here.

I cooked a roast for seven of us today. By the time I got the veg on, I just had to sit down and put my feet up - I was absolutely exhausted. While I was sitting there, my Mum came (she was coming for dinner anyway) and she said I look fed up. It's so hard to explain to anybody, be they friends or family, that doing the normal chores just wears us out. It's just beyond their comprehension. Now dinner is done, all cleared up and guests gone. Have so much to do, but am just going to rest and maybe write a few cards out for the rest of the evening. Have decided am not going to send as many cards out just for this year. Just to people who I am close to - just can't be asked.

Patricia I am so glad you feel a little better. I hereby give you 10 free passes to use if you are too tired for any activity you choose!
Awww...we sure all know what you mean Kathy! Kathy I hereby give YOU 10 free passes as well! I gave myself alot of free passes and currently are using them to put the Christmas decorations BACK into the garage without having even put them up! haha! Last night I carefully got the step ladder out and put garland up, wrapping pretties around it. I walked away and guess what? IT FELL OFF! Tried again...it went down in a flurry of glitter. Okay so there went one of my free passes. I am going to throw it back in the box and have my daughter help me put all this stuff back in the garage tonight when she comes over. I have candles around, a squatty green crooked tree 3 feet tall and laid some garland out in my kitchen window. 2 of my 3 pointsetties have already bit the dust.
What do you all think of the Free Pass Program? How many should be allowed to use before Christmas? All!!!!
So, Patricia, at the table Christmas Eve when someone asks where that salad you always make is...you say, "Oh darling, I took a Free Pass on that! Want the recipe? (or) The salad will be back when my Knees are just as good as YOURS!"

Patricia, I am glad you are doing a little better today. All this holiday stuff is so exhausting and then you feel guilty about not doing it, at least I do.

Ha ha Marianne, you did make me chuckle with your description of your decs going back in the garage :heehee: There's always next year, when our new knees will be well and truly walked in by then.

I love your idea of the free passes. I hereby volunteer you to be the Official Awarder of Free Passes :heehee:

Aww thank you ladies for the free passes. I have been needing a few of those!! Glad you are feeling better Patricia!

O I am going to make goood use out of those free passes Marianne. What a brilliant idea. Only why didnt you think of them sooner. You would have saved me a lot of swelling and cussing:bow:

Glad you are feeling a bit better.
Make full use of those passes. What a brilliant idea. Hope there are some left when I eventually need them.
Have a good evening,
Toothfairy

Debbie, Josephine reported the following in Jerseygirl's thread about her rotator cuff surgery in the Social Room when someone inquired:

I'm afraid not. Seems I have raging diabetes and I'm unlikely to have surgery before this time next year. But first I am considering having bariatric surgery to see if it will help get rid of the diabetes or at least improve it. So give 3-4 months waiting for initial consultation, 6 months plus for the consultation process, it could be this time next year before I have that done and then likely 2014 before I can start thinking about the shoulders and knee! What fun!

So our Jo has a lot going on. Debbie_joints

Quick question Bonesmarties. My scar was quite fierce when the dressing first came off and the staples were removed. Then it settled to a very pale pinkish colour. The last few days I have noticed it has returned to a dark red colour again. Is this normal. I was ten weeks post op on Saturday.

Patricia mine does that constantly, going back and forth from light red, red or the purple. I haven't figured out if it goes with the heat/cold weather. But earlier today it looked so angry, now it's just red. There are some areas that you can't even see the scar, but then later the whole thing is dark.
Geepers that's too bad about Jo...such an ordeal to go through.

I used a pass tonight when my daughter offered to pick up some detergent and bring it by my place. Normally I would turn down the favor. Now I've got a load in and that feels good. She's a good daughter. :)

Thanks for the free passes! Don't forget to use them because everybody gets ten more for Christmas. :xmasdance: :xmaswindow: :giftsa:

Ok can I use one of my free passes Thursday and send someone else to physio for me. PLEASE.........

@Brownie51Thank you for information about the scar. It does get very angry sometimes. Wonder if it goes by our moods.:yikes:
