Hello Chris

Oh it's lovely to hear from you. Wow what a lovely time you had and amongst rugby players too. Only joking x what a fabulous dose of retail therapy and your daughters company. That's a recipe for success. The food sounds lovely. I went to Ottery St Mary about 20 years ago. I can't remember much but i do know that I liked it. I was on holiday down that way. Your meal sounded so delicious.

Microwaved cat well, I think It's a lovely idea to keep your mom warm though. That's quite a novelty. Your outfit for the funeral sounds lovely. I think it's nice sometimes not to have to wear black. Your daughter I'm sure is going to look stunning too with her vintage x x x

I had to laugh about you and the drunk. I bet your face was a picture when he said that to you!

That's the type of thing that happens to me all the while. My daughters walk away and laugh. 3 am last Christmas Eve morning I got out of my daughters car to go into Asda to buy some fresh fruit and veggies. Both daughters were there. A man got out of a white van walked up to my daughters and said "merry Christmas girls"" being my daughters they replied back very politely "merry Christmas to you". He then looked right at me and said "Happy Christmas bab " held out his hand and out of politeness, I shook it. The next thing he planted a smacker (kiss) on the side of my cheek and my daughters were both doubled over crying with laughter. He walked away and I turned to face them and they said only you mom, only you. We walked into Asda and at that hour of the morning I bumped into my best friends younger sister. When I'd finished my conversation with her I found the girls. They burst out laughing. I said what's so funny? They said mom, only you could get kissed in a car park and then bump into someone you know at 3 am. Well we got home still laughing. They told their dad what'd happened and he said nothing new. Charming but I'm afraid true!!! Incidentally I scrubbed my hands when I got in. Who knows where that mans hands had been. That made them all roar with laughter when I said that.

I hope all goes as well as can be expected tomorrow. I will be thinking of you all Chris. Please take care. I love reading your posts there's always something interesting to read xx

My next riveting post will be my trip to Lidl and Asda this morning....yawnxxxxx

Love Ann xxxx

Ha ha @Nana moon 27 - loved the account of your Xmas Eve shop last year. It is funny isn't it how some people give out those sort of vibes??????
When we lived in Abu Dhabi the tatty cheap taxis were driven by mainly non English speaking Afghani's and Indians. The older ones sometimes would henna their beards and hair which made them look very odd. I was always very friendly with them as they looked after you better that way. On one occasion we had a henna-ed oldie and had just arrived at the beach. As I was paying, the cheeky ****** kissed me. All my mates couldn't believe it and reckon I was the only expat to be kissed by a yellow cab driver. When we got in the beach club I asked for some medicated soap and scrubbed my face and hands!!!
My Mum calls herself 'everyone's favourite auntie' as people are forever coming up to her and saying hello and how long it is since they have seen her. She doesn't know any of them!

BTW - when we were eating our yummy deli meal yesterday, I was recounting your Weed/DVD tale to my daughter. She practically choked as she burst out laughing, and thought it was priceless.

Really am busy and have to go - just replied while I was pushing down some toast to keep me going!

Oh Chris a yellow taxicab driver? Oh my goodness. Yes Ive seen henna used a lot in Birmingham by the older men in the community.

Another story for your daughter. I was sitting many many years ago in the Canteen in the College where our nursery was located then. There were some very diverse people there and a lot of youngsters with special needs. Well the one really liked us, me in particular. Anyway I was sat on the end of the bench and he came around shaking everyone's hands. He got to me at said "ahhhhh you nice lady!" My mates started to smirk but were much too polite to laugh or anything like that at him. However, he kisses me on the cheek and I could feel something stuck to it. I didn't react but my mates faces told a story. Then after he'd gone the table erupted. I'd got rice stuck to my face off his mouth. He'd clearly had rice for lunch and shared it with me. So very calmly I got up no reaction. Walked into the nursery bathroom and scrubbed my face. Well to do that I had to walk past the rest of my colleagues. They looked asked what had happened. When I told them they were crying with laughter. Oh the jokes I had about this incident. Never heard the last of it for ages x x x

Ooh, that lunch looks delicious @dogwheels, I'm glad your trip went so well. I am a little bit envious that you can do such a thing with no knee trouble, for the second year running I'm not going 'real' Christmas shopping, because my knee hurts too much. Nearly everything is coming via the internet again, but next year........bank balance just watch out! I will hit the shops and properly do Christmas shopping.
I was a little confused as to whom the pictured dress belongs to, you or your daughter. It is gorgeous whoever it belongs to.
I've had a very enjoyable day, big Sunday lunch, beef and yorkshires followed by fruit crumble and lemon meringue pie for my sons birthday, then a proper tea of crumpets, toast and birthday cake. Lots of playtime with grandson, now I'm flopped out in my chair, legs raised, trying to stay awake.
I hope your journey was OK, the rain just hasn't stopped here all day, we have flood alerts all around us. Because of engineering works the trains here aren't running, but apparently the roads are flooded and the replacement buses can't run,so we're stranded! I'm waiting anxiously to hear from my son that he got home alright.
I hope that tomorrow isn't too gruelling for you, it's good that the widow feels that she wants to wear red, at my fathers partners funeral last week everyone was in black, it was very grim.
Take care Chris, we'll chat again soon, Lyn xx

Love love love the dress. How beautiful. Years since I've worn something like that. Like you I'm really enjoying going around the shops this Christmas pain free. I'm loving it. Each if my three daughters ask me to go with them when they do their Christmas Shopping. Apparently I'm good at choosing presents. So number two coming up this Saturday in Warrington again. I remember when I had My TKR in the October we went to the Trafford Centre for our shopping in the November. I was in a wheelchair. I HATED it. People are so rude. I was getting hit in the face with shopping bags and people almost falling on my knee trying to get past. I ended up putting all the shopping bags in it and pushing it. Lots of icing when I got home. Happy Monday everyone. Here's to a Happy Healthy Week.

Hi
Thanks for your kind wishes - I drove down very late last night so we had plenty of time this morning. Given the Priory is only a few steps from home (Pic from our front window), the service was held there. It is a huge building and it was packed, which was so lovely for my friend and the rest of the family.

You know me - not an emotional type, but it wasn't a sad service at all. They had the private, family only cremation earlier in the morning and so the service really was a celebration of our friend's life. He was an ex England rugby player, and so we finished up with 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot' ......... of course! My widowed friend spoke to everybody at the beginning and she did brilliantly, and was so pleased that my daughter attended. Lots of tributes and photos - and we were fortunate to have a perfect bright sunny winter day.
Back home here for a couple of days, then a black tie dinner and back down to Dorset again. Never a dull moment here!
Hope everyone is OK

@dogwheels,
Chris, thank you so much for all your support recently, I know that you have just about finished with BS, I really appreciate you finding the time to encourage me. I quite understand if you want to step down in January, I'm over the worst bit now.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas, how soon will hubby be out using his new sail? We have bought new riding boots for our daughter, but she is already using them!

Hello!

Thank you my friends - and you have all become my friends - for your friendship, love and support over the last year. We have travelled fascinating journeys together and have learnt so much about each other, our families, our surroundings and shared the real fun times as well as the not so fun ones.

My wish for you and those dear to you, is that you have a wonderful Christmas and a New Year full of good health and happiness.
Much love, Chris

:candle:Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on, our troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on, our troubles will be miles away.
Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.

Through the years we all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself A merry little Christmas now.
