Hello
@kneeper - what a shame that you have cat allergies.
Louie is really sweet - but I think it must be just like Grandkids, you love them to bits but are pleased to eventually hand them back. This way I get all the good bits and not so much of the bad (tee hee).
Yes, my knee will be a year old soon. At the outset my OS who had been treating me for some time, said he would do what he could, but 28 years with an incomplete and arthritic joint had messed things up big time. He warned that I was never going to be a poster child for knee replacement!
However this new knee has surpassed all my expectations and it just gets better and stronger. There is just one little spot where it stiffens up once in a while, but I just get on with things and it soon passes. Family and friends are amazed and so pleased at how this has made such an obvious and huge improvement to my life.
Through the Summer and Autumn the knee was doing exactly what it should do and I was already delighted, but in these last few weeks the improvement and way it feels so totally normal, has been incredible. Not only movement wise - walking reasonable distances, running up and down stairs, not needing to hold the bannister, standing for really long periods, even climbing up and down ladders, but also on a lighter note I am delighted to be wearing heels, skinny jeans look normal, my long boots do up again and even better than before! It's brilliant.
I was gutted when the bleed I had in the joint at 6 weeks removed all my bend in minutes, and I had to work hard both physically and mentally to regain the flexion and strength - but it has all come good in the end. I wish I could tell others with similarly disappointing setbacks that things do get better - the important thing is a positive attitude.
Having read so many stories of others on here who have not had such good outcomes it makes me so very thankful for what I have.
How are you doing with Knee #2? I so hope that things are progressing satisfactorily.
