@dogwheels, 10 hours straight! Lucky you!! I am happy that you have recovered so well. A knee-pain-free trip to Budapest sounds awesome! I would settle for a pain free walk to the end of the driveway :) Sorry to hear about your achilles issue. That is not fun at all. My mom had her cataracts done a couple of years back and she is so pleased with the results. She is dealing with spinal stenosis at the moment and had a reaction to the pain meds that is now sorted out. The upside was she could barely eat so she lost nearly 30 pounds - she is a tiny thing now but is healthier for it as well.

I hope your daughter dumping her BF is a good thing.

We had a beautiful day in Ottawa - cool but sunny. A great day to bring in the chairs and such from around the pool and close out the back yard until next year. We had a busy hockey weekend with the boys too so not home very much at all. Icing and elevating and about to go to sleep.

I am seeing small improvements in my right TKR. The left is great! I look for the small things to keep me in a positive mind set. Still not driving but I will get there soon.

Talk to you soon! Let me know if you prefer that i just keep tabs on you on Ann's thread :)

Hi @dogwheels

I thought I'd visit you for a change. How's things? Xxxx it's lovely you're recovering so well. I won't be far behind you round Christmas if this chest ever settles.

Love Ann x x

Hi @Nana moon 27 - sorry your chest is being such a nuisance. I expect with your chest problems that your chest is your weakest place and any old bug makes a beeline for that!
Well I have been to physio this morning for my ankle and after a bit of a poke and prod, she gave me one exercise for the next 3 weeks and a very gentle massage and that was it. Nice easy exercise that I can do in the kitchen when I am making a cuppa, so that's good. She approved of my ankle boots with a decent heel too and I haven't got to go again for 3 weeks.
The fencer has been putting up our new boundary fence in all the rain today. I feel so sorry for him. He has been sinking the posts in concrete ready for the other parts that need fencing, but the dividing fence is going up as I write this. Hubby has been pondering over a large concrete slab in this new piece of land. It is about the size of a small rug, with a very neat smooth concrete cap. Older brick surround underneath, then the concrete was shuttered and poured down what seems like a hole, then neatly smoothed over, to make like a big concrete plug. I have suggested a tomb (ha ha) or an old dunny. As a ditch and small stream used to be there when the area was just fields, daughter has suggested the site of a pump, husband thinks a cess pit or fresh water collection point. Hubby was going to put a fibre optic camera down there, but the fencer says he will use a digger to take the top off and see what it is. Hope it is not a big hole!
What a miserable day its been here. I am waiting for it to stop raining so I can walk down to the town and do a few bits and bobs - parcels to post, cheque to pay in, drycleaning etc. I think it is just drying up now, so I will be off.
Hope you manage to shift that bug soon. It is a bit of a lingerer. We need a nice cold snap to kill off all the nasties!

Take care

XXXXX

Hi Chris, thanks for getting back to me. Yes it's sending me nuts.doc got back to me nice and quick x daughter collecting prescription tomorrow. I've got enough til tomorrow night.

I've got a mad ogre on the thread now. He's a Scot and a good laugh. Very dry sense of humour x

I supported him a little and talked sense into him although he's a hippie and not a knee. Think you'll have some banter there.

I'm sending you a pm xxx

Love Ann xx

@dogwheels. Hi Chris. Since I never seem to write on my thread I'm just browsing around and wanted to give you a proper greeting. Love the jib jab the dancing can cans can!! Hysterical
Work sucks. Bf is a ridiculous mess home care girl psychotic and every joint in my body hurts.
Maybe I'm due for a tune up. Not sure who to see neurologist arthritis dr or pain management dr. Even my thumbs hurt! Have decided to end the 2 nd job since she bit me yesterday and spent 1/2 hr on floor laughing and banging head. I guess I will have to make due on one measly paycheck.
Hope you're feeling good. Love the fact that you can walk into town. I always wanted to live in a neighborhood where I can do that. Maybe in my next lifetime
Full of doom and gloom tonight. Waiting for my pain meds to arrive but until then it's a large glass of strawberry lemonade vodka!
Be well. Love susanne

Its beginning to get colder and wetter here - and although my garden is full of leaves we have had some odd mild and warm days.
They are using the "S" word on TV weather around here----some accumulating snow that is possible next week! OUCH!!!

Oh goodness @referee54 - snow already? It's getting chillier here by the day. The forecasters say that after our extremely wet but mild winter last year, we are in for Arctic conditions soon. The problem is that across the pond you seem so well accustomed and better prepared for snow. A large percentage of people in UK just run around in circles like frightened rabbits and haven't a clue when it comes to driving, or come to that walking in icy snow. Most are very unprepared.

They remind me of when I lived in UAE. Rain was so slight and so rare there that the Indian taxi drivers used to panic at the first few spit spots and on a couple of occasions I have shown them where the windscreen wiper button was, as they had never had to use it! Sandstorms yes - rain no!

We get this weird "lake effect snow" when cold air comes over the warm waters of Lake Erie---then parts of Northern Ohio get lots of snow. I guess this type of snow only happens six other places in the world.

It won't last, but when winter does get here, it can be cold, snowy, and nasty---and folks on the roads have to "relearn" how to drive n the snow all over again.

Morning Chris

How are you? I hope you slept well. I managed 4 hours straight sleep. I got up at just gone 7am. Done chores, even pegged washing out. I had to use a stick to get down the three steps to do this but I did it! I'm elevating my leg now.

My mom and dad are "stuck" in Hobbycraft (dad's words) so they'll be here a bit later xx I was laughing about that.

I hope that you have a lovely day.

Love Ann xx

Hi Ann - daughter drove us down to Exeter last night, meal out when we got here and quick whizz round the Christmas market. Just about to hit the shops for a long day of shopping!!
Daughter very nostalgic and wishes she was 18 again and starting all over as an undergrad here. She so loves this place. Last time I was at this hotel it was just before her Masters graduation. Time flies!!
Take care xxx

Hi Chris

How lovely to have quality time with your daughter. That's fantastic. Retail therapy works so well! Have a great day x x x

Love Ann xox

Hi Chris, have a great day, Exeter is a wonderful city, even better when exploring the shops with a daughter I'm sure.
I'm having lunch with a friend today, we are meeting at a very large and very good garden centre, so I'm sure there will be a little shopping going on as well. Poor little Akneecar will be pleased to have a rest when I go in for my TKR, I've got just two weeks to finish getting ready for Christmas so I am dashing here there and everywhere, thoroughly enjoying my freedom and independence. Take care Chris, chat soon Lyn xxx

Hi Chris

I know you're busy but I hope that you got plenty of bargains in Exeter. I'm really looking forwards to having a catch up with you soon x x x x

I hope that you are ok? Xxxxx
Love Ann x x x

Hi @dogwoods (Chris, one Chris to another), Just decided to pop over to other threads. Just dropping in to say Hello and hope all is well with you. Nice to go shopping with your daughter. I have boys or rather young men and they are not particular about shopping unless it has to do with food or electronics. Have a good day. :loveshwr:

@chestnc
I could shop with your sons! I'd rather shop for food or electronics than clothes any day. Lol. I have two sisters and I'm the rebellious middle child. When we were young, our family would occasionally go shopping. My mother and sisters would go for clothes and me and my dad would head to the electronics section! If my dad didn't go, I'd have to stay with my mom and sisters. I never felt like I was shopping, just following them around and waiting. Torture! It's interesting that I was the one who ended up going to work for my dad and confining his business. Definitely a daddy's girl! He passed away almost two years ago. I miss him so much.

Hi @ConnieJOS I can understand how you could be missing your father. Sorry he is no longer here with you, but good that you were able to work for him and run the business. Amazing how we never know which way life will take us. Hope you are feeling okay Connie. I cannot imagine having 4 limbs done as I have said before, and all in one year? what a task? Hope you are doing well and do take care of yourself. :loveshwr::loveshwr:

@chestnc
I'm doing great. I went out without my cane for the first time tonight! I'm feeling liberated. Lol. You seem like a very sweet and caring person.

Connie

Hi @ConnieJOS, good for you for not needing to use a cane. Isn't that wonderful? I remember the feeling. It feels like such a milestone once we start not to need our walking assistance devices. The first few days that I was home, my son would see my walker in one room and know that I was clearly in another room without my walker. He would start calling me "Ma how come you are in the kitchen and you left the walker in the bathroom"? There were times when I would forget it and times I felt I did not even need it. Also Connie, thank you for the ever so kind words. How truly wonderful of you to give me such a lovely compliment. I hope you have a blessed day along with the rest of the folks here and continue to do well!! :loveshwr::loveshwr:

Hi everyone @Nana moon 27 @Ellejay @chestnc @susanne @ConnieJOS - as ever this is just a real quickie. I have returned from Exeter where we had a super time. Lots of shopping and lots of laughs. My daughter and I could represent Great Britain in any shopping challenge!
This evening we are off to a jazz recital and meal at our favourite restaurant in Richmond and then I am doing a midnight drive down to our other place in Dorset. I just hope its not lashing down with rain as it is at the moment here. Daughter is coming with and wants to work from our home tomorrow morning (even though she has the day off), then funeral and after 'do' to attend. Just sorted my outfit for funeral - I usually like black (lots of my wardrobe is black anyway) but have been told 'no mourning dress'. The widow is wearing scarlet apparently. Still it saved me buying a new black tie for hubby! I am wearing a black dress with teal blue spots - daughter is wearing vintage 1950s black with a coloured scarf.
Exeter was great we shared the hotel with the Exeter Chiefs and Wasps rugby teams! Daughter was on a shopping spree and bought dresses in House of Fraser, Cath Kidston and 2 lovely sweaters in The White Company, a coat and scarves in Zara and a super outfit for her firm's Christmas do.

I was very abstemious on this occasion, and only bought one dress (black!) in House of Fraser, a pot of frosted artificial Christmas snowdrops for my mum and some very clever pine tree smelling hanging doo-dahs for the Xmas tree and a few crafting bits. We had fun and gluhwein in the Christmas market, especially when I was buying a 'hotty' cat that you can microwave!!! They had lots of animals you could warm and put on your lap and the black and white cat looked very like my mum's old moggy. I was just buying it for her when I was accosted by a somewhat deranged drunk who kept telling me that I shouldn't buy it as it would **** everywhere. He was getting more and more excited so we legged it! On second thoughts I am not sure if Mum will bring herself to microwaving it - it will look very strange looking out of the machine!
On our way home yesterday we stopped for lunch in Ottery St Mary and in a very unusual deli ate this amazing local platter (home made pickles; air dried goat; various pork charcuterie; freshly made Black treacle sour dough bread and local butter all washed down with local apple juice. Yummy!

Hope you are all well. I am keeping up to date with everyone's news, but not so much time to post and its another very, very busy week for me. However I am thinking of you all.
Lots of love
