Thanks for asking
@Nana moon 27 and
@Ellejay - I am fine.
Had a busy weekend down on the coast and this week is hectic. Dinner party for 10 of hubby's colleagues on Friday night - I am hoping to be sensible and do a little bit of forward preparation every day to make things easier. Today I need to get all the glasses out and give them a good polish, along with the cutlery. Bit of cleaning tomorrow and decide which courses are going on which plates! On Thursday I'll try and get a bit of the food prep done, then proper cleaning and getting everything ready on Friday. I enjoy cooking ambitious things, but have decided to do a tricky but 'prepare 24 hours beforehand' starter and also have one dessert that is prepare ahead, just to lighten the load on Friday night. To make things more complicated we have a Hindu vegan guest - so I am attempting to make a vegan starter and main that follow the rules but don't look too different from what everybody else is eating. Never mind, I make a mean, potent and very true to the original Raffles' Singapore Sling (it needed lots of visits to the Long Bar in Raffles and many tastings to perfect - heh heh). Hubby has requested I make these when his guests arrive, so hopefully they will all (bar the Hindu) soon be sublimely inebriated and blithely unaware of any cooking mishaps!
We received a very unreasonable quote from the Tree surgeon at the weekend, so have been busy finding an alternative. We knew it would be expensive, but you could buy a decent car with what he quoted AND it didn't include debris removal. He is just starting off as self employed and ours would have been a nice big job for him, but he has blown it by being greedy. Thankfully another one is all lined up and ready to go at a much more acceptable price which includes clearance. The difference between the two quotes will buy me lots of lovely plants! Council should sign off on the work this week as we are in a Conservation area and some of the trees have Preservation orders. Then it will be like living with trapeze artists and a sawmill for some time.
Louie is doing OK but daughter is exhausted as he is a bit over playful and a bit pouncy, scratchy and bitey at the mo. Vet says it is normal kitten behaviour but she needs to control it. I think he sleeps when she is not there and is then full of beans once she gets back tired from work. He is fine when I have visited on my own, so I believe it is just attention seeking behaviour with my daughter. Poor little Louie was very woebegone after his spray, tablet and shot on Saturday, but is on fine form now. The vet says he is quite small for his age, and wonders if the vendors separated them from Mum a bit early and they were a bit younger than the 8 weeks stated, which could explain his behaviour. Daughter loves him dearly but says rats are much easier to deal with at this age!
So glad that you think your Tramadol days are over Lyn, and congrats on the good night's sleep. It is amazing what a decent uninterrupted night can do for you. As requested here are a couple more Louie pics. The bed one is how my daughter woke up the other morning, after Louie had managed to sneak in!
Hope you are doing OK and not overdoing things. I'll be browsing here in odd moments this week, but I have a lot on, so wont be around that much. Catch you both soon
