Hey hey it's it's clear to see
Still love thigh highs but not on me
Slept like a log elevated higher
But woke up on the fire
Won't be long before you have fun
Run @SwampHiker Run

Keep icing up your pains
And exercising up your brains
I think that patience is the key
For total hip recovery
You'll soon be back there in the trails
And me and Pastis will be off the rails

'The first cut is the deepest '. Would be apt at the moment.

Try not to be cranky and trapped @SwampHiker and thing although this must be really difficult for someone as active...hang on in there.....I played all sports but the last I had to stop was golf about 5 years ago because of hip. And then a couple of years ago couldn't do much walking either even though canal paths where I live are lovely. In the scheme of things it won't be long before you are leaping around hiking, swamping and clog dancing and canoeing and song writing ......it's Deliverance....help. Your messages are keeping a lot of people going, you are so kindhearted, warm and funny so nil desperandum ....you will soon be causing havoc again

@Jamesdean No I'm really good, I just needed words that rhyme lol. I know I'll be full speed ahead in just a couple more months. Today I'm in nap/chill mode. I was out and about for a good part of the day yesterday which seems to just drain my batteries - maybe I should switch to solar powered :skep:

Thank you, this recovery has exceeded my expectations. Soon, I will be out in the boonies. Cue banjo music

I just hope you get to feeling better and more mobility soon.

We should probably start a board in the social area for this song parody venture. ....

oh s...in that case Your messages are not keeping a lot of people going, you are not so kindhearted, and not warm and funny, actually you are. There was a little known parody which was really tasteless [so I liked it] called Leprecy, Beatles yesterday. I'm not half the man I used to be, all my skin is hanging off of me oh Leprecy came suddenly....sorry everyone. I have written three songs in my life, not parodies, However I did use to write parody songs for friends occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, etc etc and especially living in France for New Years Eve which is the night of the year and I had to write verses about everyone who was there. Excelled 2001 18 people 18 verses and all in my own language, Deanfrench. Also, wrote two reviews a year whilst studying/not studying at Polytechnic for 3 years. I will be happy with whatever you choose as song to parody, as long as I know the song.... Have already toyed with Ruby, dont take your canes to town? How about - I picked a fine time to have THR, with me on the crutches and you sold the car.....

My favourite song at the moment is a Sicilian thing, just find it amazing...

Yes, @Jamesdean , I'm familiar: Tea with cream. Actually, I'm finding it rather yucky and too fattening, so I gave up having cream in my tea and coffee decades ago - I like milk better - real milk, not pretend milk (as an American friend of ours calls it).
Yes, and for Santa Clause Day/Saint Nicholas Day, we put our shoes outside the bedroom door and Santa Clause fills them up with chocolate/sweets.

I know, I'm such a downer! Can't stand for anyone to be happy :rotfl:

Yesterday is such an easy song to parody - I have heard some really good versions! I like the one you mentioned. We'll have to do that one at some point.

I'm actually drawing a blank at the moment for tomorrow.

The song you posted is beautiful. I can't understand a word they're saying but it's OK, I made up my own.

@SwampHiker and thing. Funnily enough its a love tragic story where they have to split up, must leave even though I love you....really moving song whatever they are singing about. Another goodie I find is Djelem djelem by Barcelona Klezmer Orchestra, never heard a voice like hers. Early this evening I had my first real meltdown, surprised its taken me this long....couldn't stop, bottom lip went and ..... I was doing so well, up and down the road no problem, no crutches no problem and now just turning is killing me, walking is a struggle, if only I could swear or curse on here you would get the drift. Whats so annoying is that there are heart breaking stories on here and I am wrapped up in my own trivial nonsense which is probably nothing other than having overdone it, frustration, annoyed with myself. Bed, ice, elevate, bonesmart, make up songs...There, rant, self pity finished.
We have a choice for tomorrow .....Song or play. We could try a two character play, will have to obviously discuss setting, story line and then boff..off we go

hi @Constanze I have a German question for you if you don't mind. Why is Ocktober fest in September?

@Jamesdean Another milestone reached - 1st breakdown! Thing and I hope you will be feeling more like yourself and able to get a little (read not a lot!) more activity in without pain. Hang in there, and don't ever forget this lesson! Hugs.

Hi @Josephine Portugese difficult for me as not Latin based I think. Having learnt some French Spanish and Italian okay as Latin languages. When I hear Portuguese I don 't recognise any words at all. Spent a year in Israel really difficult language. Time in Greece again for me difficult language. Went to school in Ireland and had to learn Irish and now learning Hertford language where apparently the letter H has not been invented. Nearby towns include Arlow, Ertford, Oddesdon and they are all in Erts fella...

@Jamesdean Sorry to hear you've paid a visit to the ODIC. This time last-hip I on was on the dance floor :egypdance:at the ODIC and I spent four days recovering from the energy drain...we learn from our mistakes, and yes tomorrow is another day  Every time I felt better, I'd go and peak through the windows again....like a moth to a flame...what is that?! We get through and out the other side, at least to nine weeks in my case! Keep the faith, and so pleased you are keeping the crutches on the ground at physio. Sending positive healing vibes your way :)

I love reading the chat between you and @SwampHiker...highly entertaining...always puts a smile on my face on a grey day :heehee:.

@Alitm thank you for your kind message. All you doubles are my heroes. Have decided to do next to nothing until I see surgeon on Tuesday evening. Bit of walking around the flat, short walk outside Saturday and sunday....we have moved on from song writing and attempting a play...all contributors writers and actors welcome

I should tell you, James, that I lived in Harlow for many years. Was Theatre Manager at the Princesss Alexandra Hospital And I know QEII at WGC too!

I'm sorry you're hurting.
I think your idea of lots of rest and icing until Tuesday is a good one.
Sometimes it takes awhile to recover from the set back of over activity, or unnecessary PT.
Hopefully it gradually eases and you get the reassurance you need on Tuesday. Hang in there :console2:
@Jamesdean

Hi @Josephine Harlow was given as one of my options along with Lister, they take QEII people now. I went to Rivers in Sawbridgeworth offered by NHS but same surgeon as Harlow, Mr Kutty. Harlow is overrun now, wait was over 28 weeks and counting....I live about 5 miles from Arlow at Stanstead Abbotts.

Thanks again @Layla for your continued and valued support.

Dean

You're welcome! Hope you're having a good day.

Your screen name always reminds me of the song James Dean by the Eagles.
Do you remember that one from the annals of history. Like high school graduation time :heehee:
Don't recall if it was a radio hit or just on an album I had. Remember those....albums? Ha-ha of course you do.

I hope your pain is a bit better today. Enjoy the weekend!
@Jamesdean

Hi @Layla Name is Dean, and was born a few months after James Dean died so maybe that was it who knows? However, when I read a couple of biographies there was something that was fantastic and it was his quote from the Little Prince - It is only in the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.
Didn't remember the James Dean Eagles song and high school graduation for me would have been High School Dropout - although I did get a Law Degree later on in life as an immature student. Everyone is buying albums again and record players - all mine long gone. In all seriousness my dog who was called Fang ate them all in 1989 and never bothered to replace them. I hope you enjoy your weekend too.

Hi @Jamesdean , danke, ebenfalls schönes Wochenende!
Ask me why the Oktoberfest is in September - I don't know. I, too, think this is extremely daft.
Sorry you're in the ODIC club. Overdoing never ends. If it's of any consolation to you, read my recovery thread. My last couple of posts from earlier this year are about overdoing after three (3!) years. Family and colleagues were thinking that my hip replacement was not good and was not working since I had limped around at the time in the same way as I had done pre-op. But now I can run and walk normally. I had a fall on my buttocks and took up running too soon after that. I tried time and time again but had to "pay" each time. It was not quite better until at least 6 weeks later. Now why do I do this? The answer is, I'm ambitious. And vain, too. I don't like gaining weight. Now, is anyone else familiar with this?
You made me laugh about the Hertfordshire accent. My husband was born in London and brought up in WGC. He had this distinctive accent of the Greater London area. Now it's worn off a bit after decades in Germany. I think they call this "EE" [Estuary English] versus RP. He said "What? Are you implying I've got a "Thames Water accent"
Best from Constanze

*I hope your next effort at exercising hard won't end up in pains and aches. Good recovery!
