Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Janet, did you not realise that your thigh pain is being caused by the end of the loose implant?

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Why are the "powers that be" not telling me that JO?

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Janet, did you discuss what Jo told you with your OS when you saw him last?

Maybe he just doesn't have that kind of expertise.....he's not the one who did the surgery, is he? Nor connected to the first surgeon in any way, right? If he couldn't see what was going on in the xray you posted, I'd say you need to keep looking for a surgeon who is more experienced in revisions.

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Jamie, he's the one who did the latest x-ray! I'm so PO'd right now, I'm shooting sparks! Does anyone listen anymore???

I specifically told him that my hip was fine, that the pain was coming from the core of my thigh! And yet my femur was not scanned :arghh:...

I also called the GYN first and now I'm being sent back there :arghh:

I'm done! I might just have well as stayed home...

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

And is there no wonder why the US healthcare system has gone to the dogs...

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Well, all I can say, Janet is that you are in charge of these guys and gals and if they don't do what you asked, then you need to speak with them like you plan to do. Don't be angry, just be firm and express your displeasure that they didn't do what you asked the first time around. Oh....and because of that, you might ask to have the fees waived for the second visit to get things straightened out. Never hurts to ask!

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

:I-Agree: Once the sparks have settled, tackle the issues Janet. Make a list of the outcomes you need and go at it one by one.

I so agree with Jamie - it that OS can't see the issue with your implant you need to find one who does.

I know this is a very long and frustrating journey for you Janet. But you are strong and you will get the result you need.

Take care my friend! :friends:

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Totally agree with Jamie and Jaycey. :I-Agree: too!
And I know how difficult it is to get your point across to these people, but in your case, you have every right to insist on them listening to you and acting on your concerns.
(and acting in the correct way, rather than fobbing you off with the wrong scans, etc, and hoping you'll go away and be quiet).

Stay strong Janet.
Thinking of you.

Suzie

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

To be honest, Janet, he's either blind to it or more determined that his standard of work shouldn't be found wanting. I have noticed, however, that some surgeons seem unable to detect these tiny tell-tale signs of loosening. Perhaps I can see them because I spent so many years working with one of the very first specialist revision surgeons. Between him and the chaps at Stanmore (RNOH), I would pick their brains relentlessly about various little things like this and that's how come (she's says shamelessly!) I sometimes seem to know more than your average hip surgeon who just puts them in and leaves it to someone else to sort out any ensuing problems.

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sometimes there is no answering the "whys" of a situation. You just have to gather all the facts and go forward. You are determined and strong, Janet. I know you can get to the bottom of this. Don't give up, hon!!!

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Well, today is a better day. Nothing has changed, I just think I needed to blow off a little steam . Sorry about that. Jo, this is the revision specialist who ordered this CAT scan, not the OS that botched the surgery, but in all fairness, what he ordered doesn't look like what they scanned .

He orderd a Rtight lower ext. scan, and clearly only the hip was scanned. My NP is on vacation, but the Office Mgr. called me to see if there was anything she could do. I will se the OS on Friday as planned and go from there.

As for the ovarian cyst, it has calmed down, so I will wait until Friday to make an appt. for an ultrasound as the results of the second CAT scan will be available then.

I also checked with Medicare and they said the ultrsound should be covered since it was a CAT scan that recommends further testing. So, here we go again.

Thanks, again, for being there.

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Glad you're feeling better, Janet. It sounds like you are going at this just right.

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hi Janet, glad you are feeling better! I had the same experience with several OS - some just don't like to admit there is a problem.

Even my hip OS who told me while I was in hospital that I would have a slight leg length difference denied there was any LLD at my discharge appointment.

I am sure they want perfect results - who wouldn't? Since most patients walk away with no problems I guess they are not programmed to deal with the few who need a bit more help.

Hang in there Janet! :friends:

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sometimes a new day brings a little more clarity - not a lot but a little. :wink1:

So it appears that the scan which didn't include your femur was a communications error rather than an error made by the revision specialist. Annoying as hell but at least you can still have trust in the guy.

Glad the ovarian cyst is under control for now.

You're getting there, be it ever so slowly....
Stay strong Janet. :friends:

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hi all. Here I am with an update again as I saw my OS today for a follow up to my CAT Scan. The good news is he can't find ANYTHING wrong with any of the labs, scans, tests or films.

The bad news is he can't explain the pain. So, he has started me on Prednisone as nobody has tried a stroidal anti-infalmmatory. He just can not explain the pain, but he is not doubting my having it.

So, I have to call him next week to let him know if it has taken any of the pain away. I'll keep you updated on the results. Thanks for listening.

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Well at least he is not doubting your pain. That's a good start!

Hang in there Janet! Please do let us know how you are feeling!

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hi Janet,
I was thinking about you and wondering how you are getting on.

As Jaycey said, at least your OS didn't doubt your pain, which is something I guess...
But I'm still wondering about his eyesight when looking at your x-rays...

Hope the Prednisone works for you.
Stay strong :thumb:

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Yes, I am strong. I have to believe him and all the radiologists who first read these scans/films before the end results are passed on to my OS. And then he, himself scrutenizes them.

Sometimes it is the obvious that gets missed. An inflammation that goes on untreated is very wearing on you. We have been looking for a serious implant problem that is just not there.

The non steroidal anti-infammatory that I take has just not been strong enough, and of course the Percocet helps with pain relief, but does nothing for inflammation.

In any event, I have nothing to lose and a lot to gain by not having another revision on an already extremely weak leg. Just gotta have FAITH, to quote one of my old favorite artists, George Michael :th_heehee:...we shall see...
