Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Well Jaycey and Suzie, I thought I'd give you an update. After only 3 doses of the Prednisone, I am off all Percocet, climbing stairs, and my limp is virtually gone! I can not believe it has been inflammation causing all of this. I am still going up one foot at a time, but practicing more the normal way, pain free.

Not only is my thigh feeling better, my back and knees are remarkably pain free. I was able to get into Bill's Jaguar today to go for a little ride. I haven't been able to stoop or bend to do that for about 4 years.

I may actually go boating tomorrow, although being the Fourth of July, it may be a bit too congested at the dock and on the water for my first trial run. I feel like a miracle has happened! I wonder if I can take something like this on a regular basis?

Anyway, I'm not questioning the results. All I know is I'm free of pain for the first time since my THR almost 16 months ago...I really don't care how it happened!

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

That's really fantastic news Janet!
I'm so pleased for you!
:yes 4::yay::yahoo:

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hi there Nanmac, so pleased to hear you are having releif from that pain, :yes 4:what a nightmare it sounded, do have a wonderful 4th July, (just a normal day here!) and onwards and upwards, hope it all gets properly resolved soon.

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Wow Janet! 4th of July fireworks to celebrate! Such great news. I am so happy you are finally getting some relief. Long may it continue!

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thanks guys. I am like a different person. I was up litterally with the birds this morning, came downstairs like a teenager, actually hopped right out of bed, no inching along to the edge of the bed.

This is really making me wonder if there is an underlying problem going on, as my whole body is so pain free at the moment, I haven't felt this way in years. As I've said all along, this wasn't sevre pain. just constant, nagging pain.

Well, the good news is, I have an appt. with a rheumatologist in 2 weeks, so perhaps he can shed some light on what has been going on. All I know is, I haven't felt like this in ... I honestly don't remember not having pain.

Thank you all for bearing with me during these darkest of days. The constant pain, as I said before really does do a number on your head after a while. My breaking point, I think, was having a two CAT scans that only won me a trip to the GYN Doc for ovarian cysts! That just pushed me over the edge. Sorry ...

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Fantastic news, Janet. I have been following your journey and admired your strength and courage through it all. Advising and calming others through their recoveries while struggling with your own. Congrats!
Enjoy the POPS!

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sorry to bring some negativity into here but I just wanted to let you know that steroids were the cause of all my hip problems and I hope you don't need to be on them long-term!!!

I'm so so so happy for how its helped you though!!!

xoxoxoxo
Linda.

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Janet don't EVER be sorry. Of course you needed to rant. Being in constant pain can really get you down. Those if us who have been there know what you have been going through.

You made my day! Next thing you know you'll be dancing in the streets! Enjoy your new found pain free life Janet. You deserve it! :hapydancsmil:

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

So glad you re feeling better Janet.Did you mention what Jo said about the stem being tight up against the bone? If you have so much inflammation, did he say what could be the cause of it?Make the most of your new painfree freedom.:thumb:

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I do hear what you are saying Linda. I'm just excited as now we know it can hopfully be relieved with medication. At least that is what I'm hoping. It's a start.

Yes HD, I did point out the stem and asked about the CT Scan and he said "no, believe me, everyting is placed perfectly". And I have to believe him as I saw the CT Scan report before he did. He also is NOT the OS who did the surgery so he could be very critical.

And he was by telling me that that is how the fracture happened. I just have to roll with it for the time being, and see what happens after the steroid has worn off...:skeptical:

And that is really something to be excited about after all that time in pain :thumb:

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Janet,

I am so glad you are feeling better! Such good news!

What dosage of prednisone are you taking? My husband has an autoimmune disease, and once it was under control, he was able to reduce his dose to 2mg/day. He takes calcium and vitamin D, but his rheumatologist is not concerned about him taking this amount of prednisone (which is good because he has no choice!).

I will be interested to hear what the rheumatologist says. I'm hopeful this is the answer and you can get back to having a normal life!

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This was a one shot thing Rebecca. It's 12 days; 6,6,5,5,4,4,3,3,2,2,1,1.

He was just checking to see if it would respond to the steroid. I don' know where we go from here. But coincidentally, I am seeing a Rhuematologist on the fourteenth to see what he thinks. Glad I got to trial this first...

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Janet, you have always been one determined, and always gracious lady in trying to figure out what's wrong in dealing with all this pain; while at the same time always trying to help others. I only understand in my own way, in dealing with locked/frozen jaw for over a year, without given anything for pain, what it's been like for you.

I am so happy for you. And keeping my fingers crossed, and thankful to God you have perhaps reached that point you strived for.

Happy 4th!

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Climbing stairs! Can't believe it! Couldn't put my weight on that leg without pain. It is very weak, but I know this will pass. Just spoke with the OS office. They are sooooo happy! Hope it lasts.

I do feel like a kid at Christmas  :th_heehee:...

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

You know Janet you sure deserve this, do you think that when the inflammation clears up that hopefully your problem would be solved? I sure hope for your sake that, that is the end of your problems. ENJOY.
