Re: This is my story

I don't have any answers either, that's for sure...:cry4:

Today has been pretty bad though...seems worse again :arghh:

Re: This is my story

Hi Janet popped in to check on you and am so sad to hear how much pain you're in. I don't suppose there's any chance you have a trapped nerve in that thigh as that can give excruciating pain?
Love and hugs

Re: This is my story

Where it is not constant, I have no idea what it could be. Once it starts acting up, it is constant, while verticle. If I recline and elevate my leg, ice the under part, take pain meds, I can USUALLY make it better.

Thing is, I have to walk and live my life! it is so much worse since everything happened this summer, I am beginning to think it has something to do with that infection, especially because of the knee pain.

Hopefully I hear back from the OS on Monday to see how he wants to proceed. I am open to anything at this point..it is really wearing on me now. I asked him if there was some sort of a nerve block that I could have done...we shall see :skeptical:.

Re: This is my story

Hi Janet

Thanks for the info re the wires. If they have done their job, I suppose logic would suggest that you'd be better off without them now.

But logic does seem to take a bit of a back seat in some of these hip procedures!

Did your consultant get back to you about the reviews of your various scans?

All the best.

Glynis

Re: This is my story

No, he didn't. And quite franlky, I have been ignoring the issue. Too close to the holidays and I've got too much to do. My GP has been very generous with my pain meds, so it is easier to get thru the day with less pain.

Must admit, it is getting harder to walk these days, what little walking I do. I am totally healed from my fall though, so feeling better in that regard, sleeping better as well.

I will definately get in touch with him after the New Year to see about the wire removal. Right now I am decreasing the Prednisone and should be off all of that January 1st.

I know it has to be out of your body for a while before you can have anything medically done, as far as an incision, as it has something to do with the healing process.

Thank for checking on me Glynis :friends:...

Re: This is my story

Re: This is my story

Janet, those cookies look delicious!! That's amazing, I find that being on my feet in the kitchen is one of the most uncomfortable times for me -- sometimes end up sitting to prep stuff, maybe you do too???

Have a wonderful Christmas,
Cardie

Re: This is my story

Wow Janet, those are cookies?? They look like flowers! You are such an inspiring lady, going through so much pain yet able to make such beautiful things. How do you do it? The world is a better place for having you in it. Thank you.
PS please bring your cookies to the New Year's party!

Re: This is my story

 Awww, thank you! Yup, got myself a little cookie press/gun after the holidays last year. Very basic "spritz" cookie recipe on the box. Believe me, I can do just so much then I have to sit too.

Today I am attempting to wrap presents. Separated the stuff into piles now I am down in the recliner. After the spasming subsides I'll go back up to wrap. It is just so much wasted time, but what's the alternative? I have to "live"!

Things could always be worse, I say. I have a lot of discomfort, but it is NOT life threatening!

Re: This is my story

Made this on Thursday for my grand son's Ben's 8th birthday party that I hosted! Hershey's Chocolate Cake (recipe in Recipe thread).

Re: This is my story

You've done some great baking Janet. I know what you mean, you've got to keep plugging away no matter what. Enjoy the holidays and then get on with everything.

:xmasmore:

Re: This is my story

Very pretty Janet! You should be proud. I am not a baker. But have a couple of things that I've been wanting to bake. Lemon ricotta cookies (Giada's on Food Network), Italian wedding cookies, and Linzer cookies seem to interest me. Maybe, just maybe. :reindeer:

Re: This is my story

Those round, powdered sugar cookies are called Mexican Wedding Cookies! I get emails from a lot of recipe sites and this looked like what I wanted. However, I think every nationality has a similar lookin cookie.

I was amazed that I made a double batch and it really didn't make that many! Well, it made three dozen. Bumpa has a fantasic recipe for oatmeal raisin cookies in the new Recipe thread and I am going to make a batch of them tomorrow.

I had some etched jars made up at Walmart and I am filling them for all the family and friends...I will put an assortment in each...we'll see if I am able to stop eating them ...think I'll be doing a lot of baking next week :th_heehee:

Re: This is my story

WOW! Did I ever just get an early Christmas present! I just showered after wrapping gifts this afternoon and without thinking about it, I was able to cut my toe nails for the first time since my revision almost 21 months ago :yes 4:!

I have no idea if the prednisone has made some swelling go down or what, but there has been no way that I could reach that foot and hold on to it without hurting myself!

It's like a Christmas Miracle :th_heehee:!

DON'T GIVE UP TRYING!

Re: This is my story

I figured those were the MW cookies. I saw some holiday ones with sprinkles. I think they were called those still...need to look it up.

Oops, I was wrong, the ones I was drooling over are called Italian Christmas cookies.
