Re: This is my story

Something is going on! I am walking better than ever since the weekend! Yes, if I stand for very long, I am getting that terrible burning pain on the outer thigh. That could be the wires.

However, I walked the hallways at the hospital today as Bill had a test and my leg felt great! It is so weak that of course it is an effort, but I told Bill something is changing! I have no idea what is going on!

I feel if I get the wires taken out at this point, I may end up a very happy camper! Walking has been terribly painful for me from the get go...the pain/ache mid thigh or femur is unnoticable right now!

Wow! I have been so envious of all of you being able to take your walks and now I think I may be joining you! Better late than never as the saying goes!:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Re: This is my story

For sure! Christmas Miracles! Was just standing for an hour wrapping persents and I am hurting again, but again, it is the burning pain on the outer thigh side.

I just took a break and elevated and took a pain pill. I'll go back in a bit to finish up but overall, doing much better! gee, perhaps it takes two years to recover from a THR with a femur fracture?

As long as it continues to go this way, I'm not complaining!

Re: This is my story

WOW!

I am begining to sense real progress. If so, this is brilliant news

Please keep us informed. We are with you all the way!

Re: This is my story

Of course I over did it! But, I have been doing that all week. I'm a do-er so just sitting has never been an easy thing for me. I'll try taking it down a notch tomorrow...

Janet what happy news I'm so delighted for you. It's a bummer being back at work, I don't get a fraction of the BS time I used to!!. Wishing you and everyone else a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healing New Year.
Love and best wishes

So glad that you are feeling good! Keep it up  christmas is the the time for miracles!

Re: This is my story

Thanks! Have been trying to do more and ignore the outer thigh pain. Truth is, although I am getting back more mobility, I am still needing the pain meds if I stand for any length of time.

I am just hopeful that the wire removal will be the answer. When I ran my hand over my outer thigh last night it was pretty sensitive to touch. Still haven't heard from the OS yet, but nothing will happen until the holidays are over anyway.

I am sure now that he has all the reports from my hospitalization this summer that he is having more experienced eyes look at everything as well. He certainly wasn't happy with the way my knees looked when I walked and I have had more/different thigh pain ever since.

I'll be off all the Prednisone on 1/1/1, so hopefully we can start over then. Fingers crossed the inflammation doesn't return. So far so good!

Re: This is my story

Hallo,Janet,

I too am delighted that you seem to have turned a corner in your complicated journey. Let's now hope that this new road will lead in a more promising direction.

I really don't know how you manage to keep finding the courage not only to keep going yourself, in the face of so many setbacks, but also to find the time and energy and love to stretch out your hand and help others as you do.

For myself, so far I seem to have had an easier time than many, but I am deeply grateful for your encouragement over almost a year now. It is so much appreciated. Even for those of us with an easier journey there are still dark moments, where we begin to doubt. And there you all are!

All the best. Have a better 2012.

Alan

Re: This is my story

How sweet of you Alan! And who is that blessed little angel in the photo? What a doll!

You know, if I just sit and behave myself, I have no pain. So, it is easy to get on the forum and try to help a friend. Makes me forget about the constant pain and get away from myself.

I am pretty isolated here all day so believe me, the pleasure is mine!

Happiest and Healthiest of Holidays to you and yours Alan! And thank you for all your support and kindness!

Re: This is my story

Dear Janet,

My younger daughter and her husband made her for us as our 4th grandchild, last September.

I hoped maybe she would help to cheer you up at times when you are feeling a bit down, and things are not going quite right. Not sure whether she is an angel or not. The older ones certainly are not.

All the best, Alan

Janet, I hope you have a chance to rest and take it easy today. I'm sorry you've had such a tough recovery. Hope things go better from here on out.
