Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hallo, Janet,

Not nice to hear you are in the toils. You, more than most people deserve a smoother passage than you seem to be getting.

I, for one, value your advice and quick response to whatever moaning and whining I happen to be doing at the moment. You, and people like you, have really helped to get me through my recovery to the point where I am now.

Please get better soon. Lots of people on here need you.

All the best,

Alan

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hello all, I am back :yahoo:! Thank you sooooo much for all you concern. And thanks to Linda for giving the updates as I had no way to reach anyone online. I really appreciate it Linda :wink1:.

I don't think I have ever been so sick in all my life. Let me tell you what they think happened....

As you know, I have been flying around like a tornado, feeling so good on the Prednisone, which I found out really compromises your immune system and makes you more susceptible to infection :skeptical:.

Sunday we went boating and I had a blast. Monday night around 9 o'clock I was doing dishes (after another day of running and feeling good!), and felt a chill. About two minutes later, I was shaking like a leaf and couldn't stop!

I was still feeling fine, except for the shaking, so I took my temp and it was 103.5 :hate-shocked:! I questioned that, got a second thermometer, and it was 103.7! I took some Tylenol and againt Bill's urging to go to the hospital, decided to wait and see...

Went to bed at 11 and around 1a.m., told Bill we needed to go to the E.R. as I felt like I was on fire.

Long story short, they could not get the temp down or my BP up. I stayed in the E.R., sent Bill home around 3, and was admitted at 9a.m. For 3 days I was givenn 3 different I.V. antibiotics and was very sick.

On Wednesday I awoke with cellulitis at the top of my THR leg front to inner thigh :hate-shocked:. I freaked out. My ankle on that leg was also red and swollen. Meanwhile they were constantly drawing blood and taking my temp.

The Hospitalist ordered a CAT scan to check my THR as well as all types of labs. Everything was ok. She drew with a marker outlining the inflammation in both places. I was supposd to leave yesterday except when I woke up the cellulitis had spread.

She kept asking if I had been bit by anything and I kept saying no. As my temp had finally returned to normal, I was released today with an Rx for Cephalexin.

When I spoke with my ex-husband's wife today, she reminded me that when we passed an island/rock on Saturday while boating I was bit by a fly. I then remembered it and we were at an island that looks like it is covered in snow as it it covered in Sea Gull POOP! That was where the fly came from

I never made the connection or even remembered it while hospitalized, as I was thinking more like a tick or mosquito, not a fly! In any event, I will have to call them on Monday to let them know as there was no real diagnosis when I left.

So that's my story, sorry for the novel. Although I was treated like a queen, I am covered with bruises from seven different I.V. sites as well as numerous lab draws. The I.V.'s kept infiltrating as my veins were so tiny from dehydration from the fever, they had to keep moving it.

So fingers crossed, the THR remains infection free as I was cleared of all infection yesterday. I can't think of anything comical to add to this one though...I am just as bloated from the I.V's today as I was when I had my THR ...and 10 pounds heavier!
