Staple removal is fine. My mother took mine out so I got no sympathy at all! But the anticipation is worse as you are afraid of the prospect of pain. One or two may twinge a bit but I think the painkillers you are already taking dull any pain. But any twinge is worth it as try hip felt much easier without the staples...they had started to annoy me as the wound was healing well. You'll be grand!

@muckingabout @beachgal @NoraJ

Sorry Muckingabout but "crime scene" made me giggle just a little! I have started thinking of mani/pedi but may find someone to come to the house as my regular girl has a horrendous number of stairs. Little things like that can make you feel so much more together. Toenails will have to do with a filing down though as I am not trusting anyone but my regular not to lacerate my chubby little web toes! My wedding mani has definitely seen better days now! I would also like to arrange someone to wax or thread my eyebrows, but top of the week I am going to get my girl to come and re-do my lash extensions. I started wearing them some time before the wedding and like them a lot. However, I think it may be true about them taping your eyes shut for surgery because they were a ganged up mess when I came out of my fog. All things that will be easy to have done at home once the recliner arrives on Tuesday! I had disovable stitches this go around but have had staples a few times in the past. The apprehension of it hurting was the worst part each time. They actually just slip a little tweezer type thing in the centre which bends them up & out. It felt like a tiny itch being scratched to me, certainly not painful. I hope your walk outside was enjoyable and not too much like work. We are getting out this afternoon, but not under my own steam. I will use the wheelchair and a good hour of much needed fresh air! :) I wish I could get low enough to sit out on the lounger but just can't see that happening.

Lash extension... very glam! I get mine tinted but have never gone for extensions!

@NoraJ I tired the tint many years ago but was so allergic it was a disaster for me! I get the mink (rather than synthetic) and they look very natural; just like you always have mascara on really. I went to the salon the first two times but now the same girl comes to my house for about 1/3 of the price.

I've been doing my walking outside with my cane this week. I had been using my walker but it was slowing me up and messing up my rhythm while I was trying to be conscious of my gait. You'll like it but just don't go alone until you feel steady and confident.

I didn't have staples so can't advise. It shouldn't be bad, though. In fact, it really should feel pretty nice.

@MajorHeidi @muckingabout @NoraJ
Thanks for your input on the FitBit and letting me know what products you have and what works well for you.
I will see where I am at as this week progresses.
As far as the recent conversations about pedi/mani , leg waxing and hair salon visits, I will respectfully bow out of those topics :whistle: ha ha.
Be well and I hope everyone is enjoying their day

Hi...this is a message from an over doer, who has and is paying the price for forgetting what a major surgery this is. It really has been helpful to hear from people who are further down the road, and have managed to get better despite all the obstacles. My best friend early on was a recliner chair and a professional ice pack...also the pain meds that I was so afraid of taking. I had bone on bone for years before, so anything I have to face now has to be better. Good luck and thanks for the underwear comment I needed a good laugh today...Rebecca

I ended up reverting to the walker this afternoon because I got tired. Speaking of underwear, my daughter kindly went to target today to buy me some more granny panties, because they accommodate my incision better.

:flwrysmile:@grnplatebrd , you too might feel wonderful to have a pedicure at home and a paraffin wax! The way a pedi cleans your feet up is second to none. @Rebecca65 , do try to take it easy and rest up. I was reading some of Josephine's comments and advice on other threads this morning and felt reassured in my own 'plodding along' recovery. Slowing things down a few weeks overall is nothing out of our lives really, especially for those of you that have suffered the unimaginable pain of bone on bone for years. @muckingabout , Yay!!! for granny panties right now! If they aren't soft cotton and sitting at the waist they can wait! I feel really lucky that my Jockey's sit just above my incision so nothing is rubbing on it at all. The scab has lost it's itch for the most part now and is not terribly comfortable, but looks great. Have a great evening everyone :)

@Carriemay60 Ha, I suspect you are probably right. I am glad you are all taking care of yourselves and any simple way to relax or pamper yourselves has to be a good thing. If it helps, I believe we will be cutting my hair this week

@muckingabout @NoraJ @grnplatebrd About the Fitbit Flex:
Water Resistance and Swimming
While it is water resistant and can be submerged up to 10 meters, Flex is not designed to track swimming activities. If you want to better reflect your swimming activity and calories burned, we recommend logging the activity on the Activities page of your dashboard.

So I learned something today, too. On the activities page, you can log cycling and/or elliptical, too.
I had already figured out that I could get the Flex to track cycling on the recumbent bike by moving my arms like a crank or as if I was running.

@grnplatebrd Want to hear something funny, my 21 year old daughter's boyfriend has been getting his hair cut by the same family friend for years. He was over for a visit the other day and daughter put Modern Family on. Sofia Vergara came on and he said, "Oh, my gosh that looks just like <woman who cuts hair>."

Poor boy has a lot to learn.

I deeply regret wearing slippery pajamas. Every time I get into a comfortable position, I slide back out of it.

I'm still doing the commando/nude sleeping. I have a little gown and robe handy but it's my preferred way to sleep. TMI, I'm sure, but after my posts about constipation and such, well, y'all feel like family.

LOL! I sleep in just panties...and have done so for at least 30 years. PJ's just feel too constricting and I wind up peeling out of them in the middle of the night. I am sure we have lots of company in our choice of sleep wear! :snork:

If there is only one important lesson that I have learned during all my years on earth is that there are few problems that can't be solved by taking your pants off.

Totally agree.
