THR Morgan Le Fay's Recovery

Wow! :wowspring:That level of activity without any side effects sounds like you have turned a corner. You must be thrilled to be moving into the next stage of recovery. Try not to get over excited and blow it. :hiking::bicycle2:. Save the half marathon until next month. Seriously, well done!!!

Hi there @Morgan Le Fay
You are doing really well! I'm happy for you. All of the walking and stair climbing without any ill effect is great news. The bit of numbness, swelling and tenderness will ease over the coming months.
You are well on your way! :walking: Enjoy the weekend!

With just a few days to go, I'm into the emotional rollercoaster stage of pre-op. One minute, as cool as a cucumber about it all and the next having an irrational emotional meltdown :) :-) (:. I'll be glad to be on the other side whatever it brings!

Aww, I feel for you, sweetie. :console2: The days leading up to surgery can be emotionally exhausting as well as physically painful. My best advice is to stay as busy as possible and focus on the future and how much your life will change for the better. It truly is amazing.

I remember, clearly, driving in my car the day before surgery thinking I wouldn't even be able to do this (drive) tomorrow because I'm putting my trust in everyone tomorrow to do what they do...what am I...crazy?!! :heehee:

Before you know it, surgery will be in the rear view and you'll be on your way to a brighter future, minus the pain of a deteriorating joint. Life Is Good! Stop by anytime you need some reassurance over the next few days, we're here for you and we understand. You're going to do great!

@Morgan Le Fay -WOW’. Great job on the 13,000 steps-you are definitely getting stronger. I know you are so happy. Takes a minute but it does come. I know we all want-this INSTANT-but that is not the way this works. My advice is to go slow & steady on the strengthening, take a day in between-I have found that works good for me. I am definitely getting stronger, just have to be consistent w/ it. I’m still not there but I am getting there-and that makes me so happy! I’m thrilled to see you are too. :yahoo:

Thanks @msart !!

You have been a great inspiration to me and I take your words seriously. Am so happy to hear that you are doing well too. It's definitely a sllooooowwww process but we're proof that slow and steady DOES win the race haha.

@Morgan Le Fay-awe thank you!! I’m so glad to pass the knowledge & experiences along. I appreciate your kind words. It is just frustrating, still. Ive always done a lot of stretching bc I notice my surgery leg muscles are not the same. I wonder if I’m over compensating, but I’m going to work on that. I know 6 months is still early. Hopefully you’re stretching too!! I gardened this weekend so I’m trying to take it easy, still SLOW!! Can’t wait to report back here & say things are better!! Hope u are having a good night!!

@Morgan Le Fay-checking in on you & seeing how recovery is going now? Hope you are able to do more & more. Happy healing!!

Hiiiiiii

Thanks for checking in @msart !!

I am doing well, it will be 5 months post op for me in April .. I don't really think about my hip much these days which is so refreshing, I do still have some numbness at the surgery site and tenderness in that area if I rub it but aside from that, I'm pretty good.

The only activity I engage in is pretty much walking and bike riding on my stationary bike and so far I'm not experiencing pain. I use the stairs at work twice a week and that's working out ok too.

How are you doing now? Feeling better?

Oh wow that’s amazing news, I’m just7 weeks post op but still getting issues with knee and thigh pain. In fact it’s the knee that makes me limp without one crutch. But I’m told it’s common as my body tries to get used to yet another gait change, especially as I have a TKR on the same side. I am so looking forward to when it all starts to look brighter. Stories like this keep me going. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ash

Just checking in with you. I hope no news is good news and that you are living life to the max! I imagine you're beginning to remember what it was like to be a working girl again, having gotten over the initial excitement of getting back in the office. I imagine you running up those stairs two at a time by now... and thoroughly enjoying being 'normal' . I hesitated a little there but you know what I mean:rofsign:

All good my end ... Same old, same old recovery story. I can't do this!!! This is much better than I thought!!! All in the space of half an hour. Team Bonesmart have it covered with just the right level of tea, sympathy and a kick up the behind when necessary. They even let me cheat in the game room in the small hours of the night when the concept of sleep was a myth made up by cruel people:heehee:
