TKR Mireille's RTKR 4 months

@Red's Mom The lump was swelling of quad muscle and it has gone down. Last few days have been good. Today it feels like a truck ran me over, restless sleep and achy. Such is life while recuperating from TKR! :sigh: Hope your day is a good one!

@2active I think ROM of 80 that early is great. We are where we're supposed to be, even when we feel we're behind. Things will get better even if at a turtle's pace. :heehee:

@agarrett Thanks! Good luck on your appointment, I know it can be nerve wracking. You'll do great!

@Mireille, Ha! Wouldn't you know - when one thing improves, there's always something behind it waiting to come in the door! Like clowns getting out of a Volkswagen beetle - they keep coming and coming....!

The good part is that since we've had a little more time pass, we are starting to get used to it! New pain, New pop? No problem!

In all seriousness, I hope the achiness goes away and your body can put humpty dumpty back together again.:roseshwr:

" 'Twas a hit' n run, officer.... We don't need no trucks runnin' over no knees in this here place!" :horseriding:

@L.I.T Hey Liz, where you been? Missing you around these parts. :tada:

You had me laughing out loud. My husband was looking at me like I'm crazy. Again. :dubious:

It's true, always something new. I've realized the struggle is different from just 2-3 weeks ago. Much better than before so the light at the end of the long tunnel is actually visible now. I'm moving ever so slowly towards it.

So...in the spirit of optimism, on a whim, I booked my hubby and I on a trip to Madrid in September. I'm bored, my online purchases are out of control, :dancy:

How are you doing today? Cartwheels?

Ha ha ha! At least yours was just vacation - mine was a camper trailer! Only it's contagious in this house - while I've been down, my hubby has bought a grain mill, meat grinder, army surplus gear, innumerable survival foods, water containers, etc, solar stills, camping equipment, knives and axes. :yikes: He mentioned yesterday that he was afraid the UPS guy might be ready to kill us!!!

Don't know if we can afford to do my other knee! :rotfl:

Edited to include a popcorn maker and a Dutch oven, too

@Celle, he has a few 'identities' that he rotates through every year or so - hobbyist electrician, novice computer programmer, master yard man (with ditch digging and tree pruning specialties), survivalalist, backpacker, chemist, photographer, and carpenter. Oh, and doctor, of course. At first glance of our house/garage, you might think he was a hoarder...But I have to concede that he does use all of his *things* at least once every 3-5 years. Needless to say, he's not a man who 'sits and relaxes' often. I truly dread the day if/when he has to have a TKR! :scaredycat:

@L.I.T
@Mireille
Oh girls, I just paid the bill from my on line shopping!!! How in the world did people survive this recovery prior to the internet and Netflix? The UPS man shook his head every day as he approached the door. The Amazon guy was there sometimes twice in a day!!!

You gotta do what you gotta do! @Mireille enjoy the trip!

I had some lumps like that but they were in my butt. You could have played my periformis muscle like a guitar. I spent hours sitting on tennis balls and golf balls. I get a small knot in my lateral hamstring low by the knée too. Did you ever see Josephine's massage roller ball? I have one and it was great for places I could see and easily reach.

@Red's Mom @L.I.T I am laughing reading your posts about online shopping!!! I can relate. I did some shopping on a site called jet.com. It's basically a grocery store, but for dry goods. I ordered a bunch of stuff. Little did I know at times they put one thing in a box. My front porch was covered in boxes!!!! I was mortified!!! That is besides my regular online shopping. My husband is like enough, I have no room for the empty boxes in the garage anymore!!! Well that lasted a week. Needless to say, I have more boxes for recycling come next week!!

Hope this isn't off topic for TKR but I just had to chime in - you girls are really making me laugh today and that is good for healing right!!
- I only bought online the Seal Tight, a clap on clap off, and 2 additional col-pacs. All things I've used daily (accept the seal Tight, every other day). :)
...but I'm early in my recovery te-he

Shopping works to lift our spirits and that's necessary to get through this TKR business. I keep "Googling" for the TKR instant recovery pill but it's sold out! :rotfl:Oh well, back to the RICE.

@Mireille Shopping does lift our spirits. The worst is not being able to sleep through the night and the hundreds of informercials for products I am starting to convince myself I need!!!! I love to cook so I decided last night to order a copper XXL pan with burner!!! Only 3 easy payments of $33.00!!!!

@RMasano ha,ha,ha....apparently this is also part of the recovery process. I was cracking up because my husband has been looking at that infomercial lately. Maybe during one of my TKR induced sleepless nights, I'll get it for him.

I'm trying to sleep in a different position other than on my back, and having a hard time. I neglected my RICE today. Now exhausted but can't sleep. Note, not buying it tonight. :heehee:

I really like the TENS unit. Soothes my aches.
[Bonesmart.org] Mireille's RTKR 4 months

@Mireille I have one but wondering how soon post surgery I can use it. Was issued after my last knee surgery prior to TKR. And how often?

Right TKR 27 December 2016

@Mireille, that's a mighty nice unit! Oh, and your TENS looks good, too

I like your scar.... It has "curves" - bow chica bow bow :eyebrows:

TKR pickup lines, by L.I.T :loll:(hope I don't get kicked off the boards for that - just HAD to do it, though!)

About your TENS - does it help with the swelling at all, or just the pain? My PT offered to teach me how to use the ultrasound if my hubby would buy one for me.... But the good ones (PT grade) are about $1-2k :flabber: I was thinking about the TENS, but really need something for my swelling - which just seems to be so dang persistent!

@L.I.T You have me cracking up! Too funny! :rotfl::heehee:

I don't really think the TENS helps swelling. Just helps to ease the aches and pains. I use it also to help me with the muscles when I do my exercises or walk. My BFF is a PT and he says you don't need an expensive model since they really do pretty much the same thing.

Having a Debbie Downer day.:cry:

I'll be 8 wks. post TKR tomorrow and my ROM has been fluctuating between 94-102. My swelling is slight, mainly on the medial side. My OS said it was fine but today, I'm just feeling scared that it's not going to improve. I did therapy yesterday and don't go back until Friday and then my last one is next Wednesday.

I know I'm where I'm supposed to be but today, just feeling that I'm behind my self imposed goals. Crying from frustration as I type this. The flicker of light I had seen at the end of this long tunnel had been extinguished, ugh...

Oh, @Mireille :console2: I don't care if your green light is on, I'm giving you a HUGE virtual hug!

I, too, have been feeling in the dumps, so I'm afraid I'm not going to be the bright shining beacon to drag you back into the land of hope. But you and I are so close in our recovery time, that I will promise to hold your hand and walk with you as we trudge our way through this shadowy moment. We will find the light again, and we will do it together :friends:

Hang in there, girl. One day at a time, and when that doesn't work, one moment at a time :roseshwr:
