TKR Mireille's RTKR 4 months

My two dogs, large labs have been at my moms during my recovery. Have missed them, finally saw them the other day, but they come home today. Have to make sure they understand my limitations

If they're on the couch I hope you have somewhere else to sit! One of them is looking at you reproachfully. Bet they've missed you.

Today, just a little over 6 weeks, I had a pretty good, productive day. Did exercises, some cleaning, went for a walk. Oh, I did ice and elevate in between. :ice:

The knee felt less stiff, flexion felt better and energy level wasn't too bad. These types of days do wonders for my optimism. A few weeks ago, I was feeling despair more often than not. 3 weeks ago, I kept thinking I was never going to walk normally :walking:. Today, anything is possible!

There is still a long way to go but I now know that time will make it better. I still try to take it one day at a time, enjoying the good days and getting through the not so good days. I'm stopping and smelling the roses so the scent can tide me over during the stinky days :heehee:

May your knee(s) be kind to you today!

That was how I was able to begin doing a bit around the house. Dust one room, then elevate, vacuum, elevate. Not exactly exciting, but I felt productive.

I agree with your plan to not do PT 3x/week. I think that is their default. I was able to persuade my PT the second time that 2x was plenty.

Yay! A high point on the roller coaster! Did you put your hands up in the air and scream with joy? :yay:

3 times a week - I can't imagine. I'm twice a week and it's all I can do to recover by the next round! So glad your knee is feeling better. May the orthopedic gods continue being ever in your favor :roseshwr:

That is so great for you and so helpful for me. I am Day 10 and despair is my middle name at the moment. My sensible brain knows it will get better but I am not listening!

@DebM Believe me when I say it does get better. It's still really early in your recovery and it's not easy, at least for most of us. I know it's hard to look ahead, I still have that problem when I don't have a good day. I still cry, just not as often. I still get frustrated, I'm not patient. But, I do try my best to remember during a bad day, or 2 or 3,lol, that a good day is just up ahead. Resting, icing and elevating is your best friend. Take it easy, we all need time to heal. We will get there! Wishing you the very best in your recovery!:friends:

@L.I.T Hey girl, hope you had a good weekend. How are you doing?

I was pretty happy with myself. As you know, sometimes it doesn't last long.
:groan:
Sore today, I'm sure I overdid it. My thigh feels like a ton of bricks. When I walk with the cryo cuff, the compression on my thigh feels awesome and I can walk close to normal. When I let that thigh loose? :holysheep: I wonder why?

Anyway, therapy tomorrow. Yuck!!

Wish I could walk close to normal. However, at least I can walk and have the memory of how well I walked last Thursday. Roll on the next good day!

@KarriB Hi, Sometimes when I'm walking or just moving my knee, I I feel like it jams or clicks and it makes me stop what I'm doing. I kinda wiggle my knee and it goes away. It's in the medial side of my knee. Doesn't happen all the time but enough that I notice. PT says there's nothing wrong with my knee. Do you have any idea of what this could be? I did PT today and they were having me do quad strengthening exercises. I canceled PT for the rest of the week. 6 week checkup with OS on Thursday. Thanks!

This happened to me, but never while walking, it happened in bed! My knee actually felt stuck and a quick movement would unstick it. I believe it as just the muscles/ligaments, soft tissues becoming accustomed to the hardware and the realignment that happens with every TKR. It happened less and less and has only occurred once in the last year for me. It is surprising, not painful to me, but I did yell out ( very common for me) .

Thanks @KarriB I tend to yell an ouch myself. Having one of those days! Knee is swollen and painful again. Darn PT. So frustrated. Hoping tomorrow is a better day.

It would happen when I stretched in bed, but never felt any repercussions afterward. Make sure you're not hurting during PT. When they (1st PT group) asked me to do something and it hurt the first time, I said nope, no more.

For me it feels like a slight pinch. It can ghappen when I'm walking or when I sit down. I cancelled the rest of my PT for this week. I really need a break. :hissy:
