TKR Mireille's RTKR 4 months

Oh, did want to give an honorable mention of gratitude to my constant companion, Coco Chanel, my beloved doggie!

Coco Chanel just needs a few white spots and you could call her Bambi. Love it!! My fur baby has finally figured it out that I cannot come outside to walk with her :) (she is 148 lbs - definitely not a lap baby)

That's so tricky isn't it? In the early post op days Cratchit would sit and look at me intently (very different to his hard stare!) wondering why l wasn't taking him out for his walk as l usually did after breakfast. He'd then slope off to his bed looking thoroughly despondent and l would end up feeling guilty and miserable. So l got a dog walker and now, twice a week, he gets to go out with the girls and has a whale of a time!

I agree re the spots!

Wow what a beautiful dog! A real pin up. My big lad has been my constant companion throughout my incarceration. I don't know how he'll react when I'm out and about more.
Re ROM my physio thinks I'm fine and to go back in 3 weeks just to check. She said not to bother if I don't want to! I've never even been offered 2 or 3 times a week like you US people seem to be. Anyway, the other day I was busy at my desk, looked down, and was amazed to see how far my knee had quietly sneaked back. The ROM had increased a lot without me even knowing. Phew!
That's not to say my knee isn't still sore and at times pretty painful but I think I've turned some sort of corner.
No hugs please. I'm Scottish!

Aww, thanks so much! My kids say I spoil Coco more than I did them. I tell them she behaves better than they did. :rotfl: Our furbabies sure know how to comfort us! I'm pretty sure they know when we don't feel well. She's been great and for the most part has stayed of my leg which is a miracle, lol.

@jaschembra wow, big doggie. Coco loved to play with big dogs, she's not a fan of little ones. Go figure!

@Cratchit A dog walker was a great idea, it's hard for them too when their routine is broken up. Glad Cratchit is having a grand ole time.

@Spex10 I'm sure your dog will be excited when things get back to normal. So will we :happydance:I think they offer all that PT here in the US for $$$. So happy your ROM is improving. So true when they say it will come with time when your knee is ready. Those improvements do so much for our peace of mind and well being. Keep up the good work! No hugs for you :heehee:, just warm well wishes:loveshwr:

Here's a pic of my 'dog'!
He's a Maine Coon so is a lot bigger than some dogs.

@Spex10, I think here in the US, it varies, and a lot of it based on what insurance pays. I am too young (and not disabled enough) to have government insurance, so I pay about $600/mo for mine. I was approved for 6 visits, and if the PT submits a request, they will pay for 6 more - hence, I'm set for 12 visits however I want to space them.

My mom, who has Medicare (gov't insurance) was approved for 1 visit/week for 6 weeks. Hard to believe there is such a discrepancy, but our health care system is a bit wonky over here right now.

@jaschembra @Mireille @Cratchit I grew up having a dog and I sorely miss it - of course, I couldn't have a little dog b/c I would trip over it all the time, clutz that I am! :treadmill: Sadly, where I live in Utah, our neighborhood doesn't have proper fences - can't ruin the neighbor's view, you know! So we would have to walk a dog at least twice a day, and our job (telemedicine watching multiple surgeries all day) doesn't allow us the time. It's the reason we got two 20lb cats! :kittykiss:

@Spex10 You have a Maine Coon! Great cats! One of our Savannah cats (Bucky) is 1/4 Maine Coon. Even though our two boys are 'bruthas from different muthas', you can see the difference in musculature and face. Bucky is built like a tiger, while our other (Lotto) is long and lean like a cheetah!

Since I don't have kids, here's some pics of our cats as kittens. Lotto had the biggest ears! Ooooohhhhhh! our Sexy TKR knees calendar should have our pets in them, too! I mean who could resist scars and cute pets?! :ok:

@L.I.T I've never had kitties but geez, how stinking cute are those! Love Bucky in the bowl, lol

I love all animals, I'd have a menagerie if I could:catbutterfly::dogwalk::chuck::happyfeet:
Alas, have my hands full with the one I have

I got approved for 3 visits x 6 weeks. Way to much. I'm cutting back to 2 per week and may change to 1 per week. Will see. We're really lucky in that my husband's employer offers great insurance at a very affordable monthly rate of $400, that's for family, dental, vision, etc. With the way Healthcare is in the US, that's a bargain. Things change quickly so will see how long this holds. :prayer:

I lied... It turns out we do have dogs, of a sort. Here are our resident foxes - Mom and Dad fox. They've been coming around for 3 years, and bring their kits, too (although not until they are mostly grown and have learned to hunt) [Bonesmart.org] Mireille's RTKR 4 months

@Mireille, I'm like you - I would collect animals if I could! As it is, I already have created a wildlife park in our backyard - cotton tails, Jack rabbits, foxes, rock squirrels, ground squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, and about a million birds. I feel them all, periodically  Of course, we also have coyotes mountain lions, and bobcats around here, as well.... Although I don't feed them! :bolt:

@L.I.T oh, those foxes are so darn cute. :loveshwr:
I love nature and that sounds so peaceful. I live near the beach so we don't have any mountain animals but we have lovely blue jays and seagulls who'll attack you if you have food, lol

@Mireille, my parents also live by the beach (San Diego) - nothing like listening to the ocean as you drift off to sleep! I absolutely love the beach, ocean, and everything that comes with it. If I could afford to live on the coast, I likely would have moved long ago... Never-the-less, the desert mountains are beautiful, too. Many hugs and wishes for a happy knee day!

Day 2 got my new knee! Now recovery begins. Hospital im in is great. Had therapy in room and go to therapy room later. Sounds like you are doing good

@newlife2lv Best of luck on your recovery!
Thank you wish your continued success sometimes it gets confusing to just make a post verses just replying to someone elses so still trying to maneuver the site so i can continue to post my recovery and get advise if needed.I'll get the hang of it eventually
