THR Me2 and Recovery

I am feeling verrrrry lucky in pain department. I was given Celebrex 1 x. Per day with Tylenol for any breakthrough pain. I had one on Sunday after going out to dinner and sitting at table too long and one today after little stumble going up steps.

And when I woke up at 4 am night if surgery the night nurse helped me shampoo and dry hair and played a little beauty shop so make up went on too. Again I think it helped me feel even better.

Great you have the pain under control....that to me is one of the most important things to have....and ice!! I wore there dinky gown, but then on 2nd day I put on some shorts....commando... LOL Undies just get in the way...kinda "college style" right!!! So happy you are doing so well and it helps knowing it just keeps getting better EVERY day. Take care!! I forgot to add....GREAT picture!!

Thanks @Plumberbutt.

My recovery at Week 1 ....... Feeling really physically great. Still no pain but taking once a day Celebrex. Leg still tad swollen but hardly different than other leg. Whole top of thigh down to knee still numb to touch but can do all exercises except straight leg which muscles just are not responding to effort. Every once in a while I get leg to go up an inch. Again not painful but not responding. When I'm up moving around house and outdoors I feel energized. Healthy mind soul and spirit. When I force myself to try to sleep/rest, sometimes I can but yesterday and today I can't fall asleep and just end up feeling lethargic and either brain dead or racing thoughts and anxiety. I'm going to have visit from new OT and PT tomorrow. If nothing new I'm not sure whether to cancel future visits or try to find different. I want to allow myself to feel GREAT but feel pushed into "on no you just had surgery and need to be in pain and exhausted." If I'm feeling like Week 4, do I need to stay at Week 1? In hospital I wasn't getting that message but home health care therapist is.

@Me2 I think you should listen to your body and do what feels right for you. It sounds like you are having a remarkable recovery...no pain pills? That is amazing. I had so much pain in the beginning. There is no way I could have gone without pain relief. I would have been a crying mess. If you are feeling like week 4, that is wonderful! I would only suggest that you take it a bit easy to allow your body to adjust so you don't overdo it. There are people who have recoveries like yours and they never look back! Of course, this is just my opinion. I'm no doctor! You are 7 years younger than me. I was in great shape coming into this surgery. I am a workout fanatic. But, it has still been a challenge for me. I am 3 weeks post op today, still lots of soreness and stiffness. And I need a nap every day because I don't sleep well, waking up every day very early! I a getting better very day, but it is sloooooow.

My OS didn't put any restrictions really on me...just that walking is good and you'll know when you've had enough, let your body be your guide kinda thing. So, that's what I did and kept walking and doing stuff....EASY....didn't do anything stupid that hurt and now I'm doing pretty well. Glad to hear how well you are doing.....Keep up the good work @Me2 !!

After all the talk last night....I thought I'd go take one for the team....wife says NO.....said she wasn't gonna be the one breaking me down....LOL Can't say I didn't try!!

@Dmcfad2. Do share....... My iPhone doesn't show where you are in recovery time line? ......share plan not hubby that is ........heehee

@dmcfsd2 I am only one week out . . . . But it's been sooooo long since any decent I'd love to have plan while we're on the topic. Just kidding ---- iPads don't have any smileys to put on either!

@Plumberbutt I was praising your teamwork for the BoneSmart research team as I'm certain you were only making the offer to your wife for the value of research for BS! And at such personal risk!

Just finished visit with new therapist........what a difference! No scolding for not using walker, even confessed that I forgot cane at times, said exercises looked great and increased to 30 and even told me to try new one: making like a windshield wiper with surgical leg. I didn't know I could do that! It's a move I couldn't do presurgery. She watched me walk both with and without as cane, and said it looked good, just barely noticeable favoring of surgical leg. My heart is warm, anxiety gone, starting to feel bubbly that I really did do this and I might just recover safely and quickly. She's coming back tomorrow. No more blues.......today. Happy healthy day.

Thanks @Jamie. I've seen and read and re-read most of articles. Are definitely helpful.

Been so busy nosing around on everyone else's site that I haven't updated!

I am doing wonderful, saw the new therapist again today, and feeling back mostly on track. Blues try to sneak in but NOT like after first therapist visit -- that was not just blues, that was devastation and rock bottom!

Down to one rest, one nap and feet up for night. Spent most of day with the little ones in child care, even went for short rainy day walk. No pain, feeling great!

@Me2 I am so happy for you....you are SMOKING this recovery thing!!! You go girl!!! It is such a long haul and you are RACING to the finish!! Best wishes!!

@Me2 I'm so happy to hear that things are going well with the new PT. Makes all the difference in the world doesn't it? Keep up the good work.
