Week 68 POP
Hello Everyone
After a 90 minute ferry ride and one hour drive to the ortho clinic I saw the surgeon in Vancouver (BC Canada) today and what a difference.
The clinic is run very professionally but not clinically. All the people I dealt with were so very nice and obliging including (most importantly) the OS.
He is in his 40s, an associate professor at the university medical school, research scientist in his field and specializes in complex and reconstructive ortho surgery. He is no slouch. But he is genuinely interested. You can feel it. Yes the appointment is not long but I came prepared with the operative surgical report, previous scans/xrays and a bullet information list of my situation so not to waste our time together.
I took a little walk, w/o my cane . He shook his head and said
not good
. He then asked
When was your surgery? He then took one look at my X-Ray and:
“
It appears that part of the acetabular cup has not bonded with the bone. What that means is for every step you take and actually in several parts of each step the cup is moving in very small increments against the bone. This will cause pain much the same as bone on bone. I need another bone scan with emphasis on the acetabulum to be sure but I strongly believe that is the problem and yes you will feel this pain over the whole pelvis.”
My hubby and I almost fell out of our chairs.

In those 10 minutes we may have a diagnosis. But even if that is not true he said he has a plan or checklist of all the things he can check to remedy my situation. After 16 months I took a deep breath.
If this is the case I am in for revision surgery but if this is the case maybe there is hope. I didn't ask what the surgery entails and I would appreciate any info from the gang.
I will keep you in the loop.
My sincere thanks to everyone who has been pestering me for updates and sending me good luck wishes. I hold each and every one of you in a special spot in my heart. Bless you all….
