I'm with Cathy on this one. Thank goodness you have another dr on the case! One who will listen to you and explore things. I had problems after mine and I would have been devastated if I hadn't been believed. It took a while to get to the bottom of my stuff... it took Cathy a while to get to the bottom of her stuff ... but the "bottom" is out there for you too. You will get there. Never give up or take no for an answer when you know something is wrong. Hey, it took me 5 doctors to even diagnose me correctly with hip arthritis way back in the beginning. They all thought it was something else ... or "nothing is wrong with you." It only took *1* doctor to give me the correct diagnosis. Sometimes you have to kiss a bunch of frogs.

Keep us posted.

Dorothy

I am so pleased for you Carol Mad Rocker you have certainly been banging your head against doors for such a long time. Finally you have found someone who is listening, caring, proactive and on your side... I am truly thrilled for you :)

I agree with everyone here. Good luck. We care my dear Friend. Tashia

Carol,
I am thrilled to hear you finally have someone who will listen. Hope you find some answers to all the challenges you have had with your hip.
Take good care,

Hi Carol, so good to hear you are finally moving in the right direction! Get that diagnosis and move on! Well done you for sticking to your guns. Keep on fighting the fight. We are in your corner!

Carol,
Glad to hear they are going to look under the hood so to speak, only way they can find out what is going on in your hip.
Sending you postive thoughts for your upcoming revision.

Week 54 POP

Two Years already. :thud:

Thank you Friends for your kind words. I have forgot the wonderful feeling :yahoo:that I get when I talk to people on BS.

I have my MRI on the 24th. My new GP is very reluctant for me to have surgery for no reason. We are hoping that something will show up on the MRI. She (the first woman dr. I have every had) has even suggested that maybe going south of the border (USA) to have a OS look at my films. I am not against it I am just thrilled that someone is actually taking this rag (issue) and is giving it a real good shake until she is satisfied.

My surgery is booked for 5th of March but my GP and I have also talked about postponing it until she has done more tests. She is a peach. I am so lucky.

I will continue to keep you in the loop. Thank you again for being the Best of the Best. :friends:

Good news Carol, @Mad Rocker - finally someone who is listening to you and you have rapport with - miss you girl! Xx

Carol
I had my first revision surgery on the 27th of Dec. OS found a impingement/Metal on Metal contact. My cause of my Original pain for the last 2 years. Dr. Haung replaced the ball and the stem to slightly lengthing the leg. It was not noticeable after the surgury. A few restrictions cause he had Not Moved any part that was fused to the hip or thigh bone. With in the week I had tossed the walker and the cane. Three weeks post op Tweaked my lower back. Picked up my Cane again and the pain pills to get along. Over the next week went to the boat show in Seattle 5 times. the last time on Friday 31 Jan. Next day woke up feeling trashed. Ran some errands with a friend. came home and took a two hour Nap. Friend still here so I went out and joined him on the boat. Two hours later I was sitting on the bare Aluminum Bench on the left side of the boat. the rightside Gally structure is 40" away and I was prepping to install my Refrigerator when I slid forward and my left hip DISLOCATED Pain Level was an instant 25 of 10. Called 911 and the EMT's showed up took me to the ER. They tried twice to reset but failed, called the on call Ortho DR. He took 5 tries in surgery to reset it. He also took fluid samples. Next night they found a staph infection. Monday the 3rd I see the OS Dr. He sends me to the Hospital as a direct admit. 4th of Feb. he performed my second revision. Found it puss ridden and pocket around the hip shredded as he called it. He cleaned it out and replaced the stem that was loose and the Ball again. This time by .250", noticeable! as hell. He also put me in a brace that hurt like hell. I have a PICC in my right arm and I am taking two different Antibiotics. The infection is in retreat and I have 4 weeks till they tell me I am cured or the hip comes out. I wish I had not gotten the staph infection but I am glad I had the Surgery on the 27th of Dec. I was almost pain free for 3 weeks.

My Story might not be welcome here but Things could be worse. I know one thing DO NOT DISLOCATE the HIp It Hurts. Every muscle and tooth in my body ached from the tensing tring to control the pain as the EMT's lifted me out of the cabin and off the boat to the Gurney.

I had those dark thoughts that you might have had but fight and get your surgery they will find something once they go in and you will be better. I am the 1% that has side effects from procedures. Demand that they clean every thing one more time before your surgery and get er done. You will be fine soon.
John aka goatram. My return to work was 10 Feb. Now its 24 March and I am counting.

As always, good to hear from you Carol @Mad Rocker ! Wow - your GP sounds like a gem! Well done on finding a partner in all this. Please keep us updated!

Just a quik note to let you know I have had to postpone my surgery. Nuts!:tantrum:

My brother who has taken care of my mother (dementia) 24/7 for the past 4 years has finally thrown in the towel because her condition has deteriorated considerably to the point she is having psychotic spells. They live about 700 miles from me.

I can't have the surgery and then be out of commission for several months plus all the worry---I need to get her into a care facility asap and in the meantime my brother needs a break.

We do what we need to do----

LIFE IS NOT FAIR! So sorry to hear this Carol! Fingers crossed you can get your Mom into care quickly. Hang in there!

. Take care of yourself while you're getting your mom taken care of and giving your brother a break. Do keep us posted. You know we care.

Thinking of you Carol, @Mad Rocker - always a difficult process working through the issues with care facilities for our parents.. Yes, take care of yourself! Come here and vent any time... Sorry you had to cancel your surgery :(

Just making the rounds and caught up on you. What a roller coaster and then to be close to surgery only to postpone it. So so sorry. Life can be so challenging sometimes. I hope, even though things are a struggle, the extra light theses days and movement (though slow) into spring brings you some extra strength to deal with things. Try to keep the faith....and it is a beautiful thing for you to delay with your mom in mind.

2 years in March from my 1st and now a revision later hopefully things will keep moving forward for me, but one never knows. Keeping the faith and one day at a time have been my mantras also. Hang in there woman! Cathy

Hi Carol,
Stopping by to say Hi!
Hope you have been able to sort things out with your Mother, and she is in a care facility.

12:55 Week 110 POP
Hello Everyone
Thank you for your kind words. We have been on a rollercoaster since I got here Monday 3 March. I expected my mom (who is at end stage dementia) to be really bad but she fooled us (a bit) Monday by being OK :doh:but Wednesday all hell broke loose---8:30 am she started with a full blown psychotic meltdown----which continued to 12:30 when my brother called 911 and she was taken by ambulance to emergency.
My mom is still in the hospital ---she cannot eat or take any fluids as she coughs all the time. Her veins collapse so IV does not work for any period of time. She just went thru a bout of aspiration pneumonia. Things are not good. :cry:We have decided to withdraw all fluids and nourishment. Her GP has indicated that she will go into a coma and pass away in 5-10 days.
We are presently "praying" for a vacancy at the hospice so she gets proper care.:beg:
We are having a tough time especially my brother. It feels like we are abandoning her in a desert with no food or water. But her disease is killing her so we need to be strong and let her go.
And on top of this my own GP is really worried about my falling hemoglobin count.
Ain't life grand---:hairpulling:
Take care Everyone

PS We just got a call for her to be transferred to hospice:)
