Hip Infection* Life After SCaprae

Good to hear from you...getting the man-cave all ready for the winter months!
Happy Sunday!:SUNsmile:

Hi :wave:
How's our old friend doing?
I hope all is well and it only continues to get better.
I'll bet it's a NASCAR Sunday? If so....ENJOY!
Have a great day and a good week!
@SCaprae

Good afternoon, have been doing well & staying busy witch various projects. Drained the lake water pump system, drained & rolled up outside hoses and nested them in a cut-off 55 gallon barrel(placed in utility room, connected for emergency use/ could turn the water on, grab the end and reach up to 150' if ever necessary). Dug in 100' of 3/4" gas line from the meter to & into the garage for the ceiling hung heater/ some plumbing yet to be completed (1 more trip to Menards). Got so exhausted digging that my legs were refusing to move when I wanted them to. Assisted neighbor cut out a silhouette of Sasquatch (with red reflectorized eyes and painted flat black)& placed in the trees next to the road for fun. Looks awesome! Yard cleanup & final preparations for winter on the list yet. Installation of a new (to me) air tight wood stove for the garage ( former neighbor & good friend moved to Homosassa Florida where his wife grew up & left it for me) has yet to make it to the top of the list. At work for a month and a half and that is going well enough (legs are getting a bit stronger each week)and intend to be there tomorrow as well.

You've been busy! I'll bet getting back to routine tasks feels gratifying.
Take it slow, you need your legs to move, not seize up on you :heehee:
Hope that feeling went away with some rest and a night of sleep.

You're definitly going to have a man cave in the garage with the heat sources you've mentioned.
Great for hanging out and working on projects and of course catching the race.
Enjoy the week!
@SCaprae

So happy to hear things are going well for you.
Onward and upward:egypdance:

Have some time after lunch, thought an update in order. Feeling like a "corner was turned " last week. Pain free for the most part, fatigue sets in later in the day. The ODIC club is not to be feared, must be dealt with at some point in one's recovery process. To be blunt: the first month back (as activity ramped up) was "torturous " & now work is merely fatiguing & uncomfortable. At some point one must challenge themselves to regain lost mobility and strength. Am gaining on both, with more room for improvement. Onward!

Sneaker.....didn't tell us it was torturous at the time. You knew you'd get some of this > :no-fin:
And some of this too > :bignono: Didn't want to hear it...did ya?
I think your strength will gradually come back the further you move away from surgery.
Onward is good but you've been through an awful lot. Please be careful and take it slow. You've come too far to botch it up now. Hope your week is good!
@SCaprae

You "nailed" it. It's up to each individual to pursue what is right/works for them. Happens after each surgery (trying to be, but not funny).Will continue updates.

Yes, you should have gotten a what-for.:nah:
We only want the very best for a long term happy recovery for you.
Glad you are doing better and better, though.

Slow at the fastest, steady (has a nice "ring" to it) w/ an occasional burst when necessary. Actually doing very well. Took a 20' extension ladder for a 1/2 block walk (not allowed to drive on Campus sidewalks any longer) to use it this morning without any discomfort. Will be fatigued later this afternoon, but pain free for the most part.

That sounds just splendid @SCaprae . I am SO glad you are doing well.
Yay for hip replacement...BOO for Hip infection of course:censored:...but yay for new hip:yay:

Realized yesterday while watching the race: my right THR no longer feels "alien" / feels like part of me. Yeah!!!

Wonderful news! Six month anniversary already on Friday.
Happy to read you're doing well.
Hope you have a great week! :)
@SCaprae

So glad to hear that you are feeling back to normal.:ok:
What a long year it has been for you.
Great job on dealing with all the difficulties with such patience and grace.
Great inspirational tale for others suffering through similar complications.
Have a good week @SCaprae !:egypdance:

Things are progressing nicely, moving about w/0 issue. Have been feeling some discomfort/pressure in the right hip, leg when trying to get to sleep of late along with feeling "warm" (break into a sweat easily) though no fever detected. Sent questions to the Care team this morning (if for no reason than to be reassured). Watched the race yesterday w/ my new (to me) wood stove and had a good day in the garage.

I'm sorry you have the added stress of wondering about the discomfort and pressure you're feeling along with feeling easily overheated. I sure hope the care team is quickly able to reassure you. Please let us know what you hear.

Glad you had a good Sunday watching the race in the comfort of heat! Do you have a recliner and fridge out there also? You must, lol.

Wishing you a great week and Happy Thanksgiving!
@SCaprae

Yes...hope all is well...and that you had a good Thanksgiving!:)

Thank you. Yes, had a very pleasant thanksgiving w/ 3+ year old granddaughter & her parents. I was in charge of the turkey & the directions didn't fail me. Have my man cave (garage) in order and ready for winter. Hope you all had a pleasant thanksgiving as well.
Have an appointment set for Monday at Mayo to learn about pressure/discomfort at right hip/groin. Not a lot of pain, but difficult getting to sleep and staying asleep. Labs, X-ray, office consult and possible aspiration for cultures. Hoping for the best for all dealing w/ medical issues and that nothing grows in Monday's cultures. Will post results when I se them.
