Hip Infection* Life After SCaprae

Finished the day much stronger/better than it started, glad of it. Swelling subsiding in thumb, fresh cut lawn. Feel good. Too windy for a boat ride, but readying for brunch w/ friends Sunday.

Too hot for a boat ride!! 100F and at the mercy of the baking sun. Think raisin :heehee:

:thumb: On the thumb!

Brunch sounds fun. Your Bloody recipe will be making an appearance, I'm betting.
Glad you're feeling better. It's been a long time coming.
You're enjoying life. Long may it continue.
@SCaprae

The weekend was another good one. Getting over taking a spill last week, rainy Sunday morning, brunch (with bloody Mary's) as the sun came out & temps became comfortable. Watched the race & got a good nights sleep.
Today will be having lunch w/ coworkers, followed by Accupuncture. May drive to Hudson (fireworks) and Cumberland (Louie's Finer Meats) after to finish out the afternoon.

You can't be pyromaster this year...can't run that fast.
That's what I was told last year:unsure:
I'm so happy all is continuing to improve.:)

Wow! You're really racking em up! Good days and weekends, that is.
It's so heartwarming to read after the long journey of the past 7 yrs :yes!:

I'm happy to hear you're no worse for wear after the fall.

The brunch sounds fun and relaxing. Especially after the heat of Friday.
Assuming you were hovering around 100F also, being in somewhat the same area.

Been to Louie's many times on the way to Hayward / Chippewa Flowage. Hudson familiar too, lol.
Hope you have a good one!
@SCaprae

Had a nice Independence Day. 2 bouts of rain equaling 1 1/2" with lightning. Regrouped in the garage for a pot luck lunch. Didn't make it to Louie's or fireworks store(plans need to be fluid). Watched several displays visible from the deck and others around the "puddle".
Been having a bit more stiffness in hip, minor (almost feels like the original mid femur location) pian in right leg. Hoping is residual from my tumble. Next appointment is August 10.

Happy Thursday!
Glad you had a nice 4th.
When you say "almost feels like the original mid femur location" are you meaning
the same area that's led to problems before?
Try some rest and icing, if your not already. It could help the pain and any inflammation from your tumble.
Hope it eases soon!
@SCaprae

Yes, very similar to how the last go round began. Have bee taking things easy with icing & elevation. Time will tell, hoping for the best. At times it's easy enough to put out of my mind, but fatigue brings it back to front/ center.

Okay....it's a fact that you took a tumble, so there is SOMETHING you can attribute it to. Hopefully, it's the cause. I imagine that it feels like complete / healing and recovery is unattainable given all you've been through. I know it has to be very difficult to keep your mind from going to "the bad place". You've had a long journey up to this point. A lot of ups and downs, pain, suffering, dashed hopes. But...I believe in a God who heals. You were cleared to move forward and that's what you're doing. Unless something more serious develops I'm going with the notion that you're suffering some residual discomfort from the fall. Prayers going up for any pain you're suffering, complete healing and for your peace of mind. :console2: Make today a good one! :yes:

Good morning , I hope.
I can imagine you would be super tentative about anything that resembles the symptoms that led to all the complications.
I DO think I would consider a call to up that appointment if you have any hesitation about it!
August 10 is a long wait time, in my opinion.
Could be just residual from fall, but would rather you be safe than sorry. Please do be diligent...want you well, friend!:yes:

Hi @SCaprae
Hope things are easing up for you and you're able to have a nice end to this long holiday weekend.
Wishing the best for you...

Things are returning to normal after the Holiday, Ruby is getting better at not letting the fireworks get her riled up.
Sent a note to Orthopedic care team w/ regards to pain that is still lingering. Will share their answer when received. Spent several quality days in the garage making/staining picture frames from scrap lumber that I had on hand. Today will be using the deemed with a sanding attachment working on Ruby's nails. Actually getting her used to the idea will be the trick.

Yep....it was a long one. Back to normal is good. Couldn't remember what day it was anymore.
Only knew it was Sunday because the big newspaper came.

You're staying busy, that's good. Hopefully it serves as a distraction. Let us know what the Ortho's care team
has to say.
Have fun trying to groom Ruby. See Ruby run > :doggie:
@SCaprae

Hi,
Wondering if you heard back from your OS's office? Hopefully your pain is easing.

We're in for another scorcher in these parts. I know you're on the same area of the map.
Oh Fall, please come quickly. My favorite time of year. What about you....are you liking this heat?

Hope today is a good one!
@SCaprae

The response time from the last question posed was 4 days. Will contact them again tomorrow if no reply today. Pain has stabilized, no worse & no better. Keeping busy helps it fade into the background.
Yes, it'll be hot, humid here as well. Holding up w/o problems. Don't really have a favorite season, enjoy them all in 1 way or another (the change is the best part).

Well....stable is more encouraging than worse. I'm glad to hear you're able to keep
busy. It always seems a good distraction from pain. Let us know when you hear something.
Hope it begins easing.

So...you like all seasons, huh? Do you miss this? > :snow plough: I hope not :heehee:
@SCaprae

Heard back from Ortho team, they are good by to discuss w/ all involved ( Infectious diseases etc) & let me know tomorrow if they want to aspirant the hip for cultures. They are saying it is encouraging that it is "stable ".

Does aspirating pose any risk of infection?
And if there is infection, don't they like to give it time to mature.....or something similar?
So...If it poses even a slight risk to be poking skin in the area and they'd need to wait for something to mature wouldn't it be wise to wait longer and see if the pain goes away....since it's stable and hasn't worsened?
Couldn't it still be from the fall, or is this just an all too familiar pain you're experiencing?
Lots of questions but I'm just trying to understand.
