Hi @Minnie's knees Nice to receive your post and happy you have joined us . I am sure you are like I am and waiting for your surgery date. I hope it does not take too long. I love the park it is a place that we love to visit and so many lovely days there we have spent enjoying the beauty of the water and being with the ducks geese and seagulls. Happy you could enjoy it with us and hoping you will not have to wait too much longer for your surgery date anxious to have my surgery and then two strong knees it will make walking in the park even nicer. My family was always so strong together we were so close and so many things have gotten in the way of that since my Dads death last year. Hoping that one day my Mom will want to put what we had back together till then know she probably wishes that what was said had not been as with loosing my Dad so many things have changed. Know I have my memories of time she and I spent together before it all went so wrong and wondering sometimes if she misses me as much as I miss her. Letting go and this is the only way to heal. Walking in our park is a positive way to see how much we often take for granted and loving every minute of our time there together Holly

We spotted this lovely duck on day early in the summer she was new to the park and we did not know what type of duck she was so we came home and looked her up in our field guide. Read about her and discovered she is a female Merganser pretty red comb of feathers on the back of her head and a at first from a distance we thought she was a mallard duck but she did not look the same up close. Lovely duck she only stayed a few weeks and we have not seen her since then Holly

Hi @Pumpkln Hope your knee is making things easier or your. You really deserve a break and hope you have had a nice summer. I noticed your new avatar it is really nice liked your other one as well but this looks really interesting. Is it a balloon as I remember you mentioning balloon races in one of your post. Who could imagine they could make something this neat looks like Darth Vader. Our park is starting to close down a few of the rides and pedal boats . Not so many people there this week with the kids being back in school but still lots of people walking their dogs and sitting enjoying the park to relax. Navy club is there most weekends. A small group of senior citizens who enjoy floating their boats remote control some are quite large and interesting to watch them. @Jozilla you must be getting anxious for your surgery day and only a little longer now just tomorrow and you will be on your way to having your knee fixed up. I will be thinking of you on Monday and wishing you the very best know it will go great and looking forward to hearing from you on the recovery side all my best for you. We have all been through a lot with this surgery and with waiting and may all be pain free, comfortable and treated with the kindness so much deserved. Wishing the you all the very best and a great day. Holly

@lavender

Hi Holly,

Thank you for the photos, they bring the story of your lovely park to life.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow morning when your are having your Cortisone injection and x-Ray.
Hopefully, the injection will give you some relief until you have a date for your LTKR.

Have a good Sunday and hope you sleep well tonight.

A better view o the train and in the background is the lovely carousel it is closed in this picture but if open will get a picture today. Just have the video and wish I could share it. A few years ago the condos in the park area asked to have the music turned off. The carousel was enclosed in a building to guard against the weather and the decision to turn the carousel music back on was made so beautiful and all fully restored. Used to ride it with my nieces and nephews when they were small. Holly

Hi @marmora and everyone thank you for your post looking forward to tomorrow and seeing the surgeon. It will be nice to have this all ready to go and hoping for spring to be ready to move a lot easier. Wishing you a great day and the weather here looks like it will be hot. Sun is out already and noticing leaves falling in the parking lot out front. Off to pick a few things up and then to our park. Afternoon appointment and more x-rays this time around know he is making sure that things will work out great and I have faith in this surgeon who I am now getting to know as a very kind caring man so much more comfortable then our first visit when he never really said very much he understands that my first knee has had its complications and said he respects how much it has struggled he talks to me and can ask him what I have concerns about and so happy that he was the one they chose for my surgery. Hope all goes well. Holly

Thanks @madinana @tiredwife it is really beautiful there.

More people in our park today two women came by the bench we were sitting on under the tree we love and invited us to a barbque which was being held for the kidney foundation. Dropped off a little bag of stuff a marker , sucker, tube of chap stick a bottle opener and a few other little things. There are two areas in this beautiful place for people who are holding large gatherings the have a roof over them and picnic tables below some people reserve them for birthdays, shower, all different stuff. A little girl was celebrating her 3rd birthday and it seemed that her Grandparents were setting up so nice lots of helium balloons tied to the table and a large cake had just arrived as we were leaving.

We left the shady bench and walked up to the bridge slowly and sat on the sunnier bench right by the water falls edge. Cute to see one really little boy his shorts were almost as big as he was and he was standing almost like he was frozen starring at the train funny he was so cute. Off to the side we noticed large bubbles floating down above the river the way the sun was shining on they were so pretty some quite large and colors of gold and pink and blue all shades some went quite far and others were burst by tiny kids excited to see them close enough to touch. Wondering how they make them they almost look like clear plastic. The boat guys were there and today they had some bigger boats submarines and air craft carriers . People gather on their way by to watch and the guys are happy to answer questions. We live in a University city so many students have come to go to school here roads are much busier and so many people just sitting in the park to enjoy the day.

Simple pleasures and nothing we did costed us a penny. Our roses and flowers seem to have found a burst of energy so many buds ready to bloom. We had a problem with Japanese beetles this summer and the large 7 foot high bush of roses dwindled but amazing how many new branches being found making their way across the garden. Disappointed when she seemed to have died but she did not she just make her canes somewhere along the garden and looking forward to seeing her again next summer she smelled so nice New Dawn is such a lovely rose white, soft pink and so many blooms other years. Home for now and taking a look at our garden and enjoying the sunshine. Wishing you something special to make your day a great one. Holly

Hi @marmora Thanks for your kind wishes. Looking forward to seeing the surgeon tomorrow. This appointment will be held at the hospital and hoping that the injection will make it easier to get around till my surgery date. How is your knee doing, I hope that you are not having any pain with your knee it can seem like the whole time takes so long. I appreciate your kindness you have such a nice way of making people feel better. I will be going at 1:10 pm and hoping for a little news about surgery will write to let you know how it goes. Thank you so very much for being there and wishing you a wonderful week. Holly

Hi @Jozilla Just wanting to wish you all the best for your surgery tomorrow and may you move through it smoothly and may all go wonderful for you. I will be thinking about you tomorrow and look forward to hearing how you are doing . Best wishes Holly

Thank you Holly! I cannot wait until after the surgery to be honest. I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow too and you receive a date soon. Your pictures were great - my favorite is the baby goose! It will be very different to not have pain in my knees! I will be thinking of you too and will try and post as soon as I can. I am not sure how the wifi connection will be the first 24 hours as I have to stay in Critical Care the first night due to my sleep apnea

The best thing this surgery has brought me is the friendships I have found on Bonesmart.

Hi @tiredwife Love roses to used to have a lavender one to think the one we had was called a sterling rose so beautiful. When we lived in our apartment we did a lot of gardening on our balcony lots of annuals and then one summer we decided to grow a rose bush.

We purchase this rose in a box and discovered that she just had a little soil she needed to be soaked if I remember right and then planted and hoping that we could keep her alive till we moved into our townhouse. Decided to buy more and before we knew it we had 6 bushes They are called fairy rose and when we moved we planted them along the inside of our front fence. The rose bushes became really bushy so many flowers but had to be moved when a new fence was built. Two of these bushes are now twenty five years old and still flower small pink flower very pretty. We have a fairly small yard but it holds 15 more roses and each year we add a few more. Love peonies and hostas and flowering shrubs which live in our garden to.

One of our most favorite roses is the New Dawn rose pink and some bushes with white very fragrant and delicate and delicate and they grow like crazy some are climbing roses and some bushes. This year it broke our hearts to have to cut many branches as they were the victims of Japanese beetles but before she left she made so many babies and now noticing that she is climbing up the fence and even flowered with her new stems this summer. I hope you are doing great and that your husband is managing with his new knees fine I have tried to post a picture of the climbing rose that we lost a part of and then the corner

rose who has bloomed all summer always covered with buds so many the beetles have slowed down my husband has been patrolling the garden keeping an eye out for them and removing any he sees this is the only way to stop them other then spraying the bugs and we do not use sprays on our garden Have a great week Holly

@lavender We have 9 roses. 6 knock out roses, one dark red, and a couple climbing. We haven't been paying them any attention this summer, so I hope the are okay. I like coral bell plants and hostas, we also have dwarf crimson barberry bushes, pampas grass, fountain grass, silver mound and a bunch of other things, but this summer they have all been neglected. Either hubby was having the surgeries or he is healing or running back and forth to PT and doctors appointments. Luckily we have had plenty of rain. They will all have to survive on their own for awhile longer. You have a great evening.

Hi @tiredwife. It seems that sometimes plants they do better just left as long as they have enough rain and nice to see if you have been busy how much they have grown and how beautiful. Not spending as much time in our garden since my surgery but my husband keeps an check on it to make sure it does not get too dry lots of rain this summer so not often needing watered. Lovely time of the year and how nice to see the flowers before the weather changes over. Your garden sound very pretty we like lots of those flowers as well and hostas are so pretty so many different types. Holly
