Beautiful morning. As easily as I woke up, after a good night's sleep, I'm now falling asleep after my percoset. They are due back shortly with the long acting oxycontin and an antibiotic. The nurse is concerned that I might already have an infection in Elmo, or maybe it's just my inner Elmo showing through.

Oh my dear, I do hope that it turns out to be not an infection. I will hold a good thought for you!

Hi Janet
What's Elmo doing to make them think infection. I have a bright pink spot at the very bottom of my incision with some pinkish discharge. I freaked out and went to see my doctor (well, his assistant) and he said it's some kind of fluid leaking out (forgot what he called it). He said it's not infected but gave me a week of antibiotic just in case.
Percocet makes me tired too but more than willing to live with that have little pain. Sometimes I try to fight it but I never win.

Hi Morning Glory, I have redness on the inside and back of my thigh. She said they think chaffing or infection, and since I haven't done any movement to be chaffed, she doesn't like the looks of it. She made sure to call the in house doctor last night as she was going to be off for the weekend. Obviously, we don't want it to be anything. I'm just taking the treatment and hope it's not.

I had my big excursion for the day, getting up on the walker, shuffling two steps, going back and sitting down.

Well you surely do need a rest after that workout! :loll:Getting me to the doctors office felt like I had ran a marathon. No one could ever doubt me needing that handicapped spot if the saw me trying to get in and out of the car, not a pretty sight.

I'll be keeping positive thoughts we're both fine, no infections allowed around here!

The house doctor saw me today and said to stay on the antibiotic, but that she wasn't too worried about it the redness. She thinks that and some of the excess bruising are from the position I'm lying in, with legs and knees elevated above my hips.

Hubby came over , I scooched over to one side of the bed to make room for him, and we had a nice nap together this afternoon. Lazy Saturday afternoon.

There were so many surgeries this week in BonSmart land. I can't possibly read through the posts. i hope all is going well for everyone!

OH! I almost forgot! I actualy did a straight leg raise today on my own! Elmo, it turns out, is the little dickens to be dealt with. Who would have thought!

Janet good to hear from you. Hope the antibiotic takes care of whatever is brewing in Elmo. Straight knee raises are great!:thumb:

I was worried about you when you did not post for awhile. Then when I saw your post I was relieved. I could see your pain meds at work:th_heehee:

Take care and I hope this coming week is a good one for you.:friends:

I hope you progress well.

Remember that a little bit of redness or mild drainage is not unusual in the first several days after knee replacement.

BTW, how is your biopsy incision healing?

Orthodoc

Janet, glad that you and your hubby had a wonderful nap together. Positive thoughts and prayers that Elmo calms down and behaves. Our new knees DO have a way of complaining and making it known that they want our attention. Maybe we should draw a face on our knee when it turns redder than usual -- "red in the face" complaining. :th_heehee:

Hope that you have a restful Sunday.

Mimi, you should see the short emails I sent out! I can't make them out myself! Knees are suddenly hurting more, probably from shifting around in bed. But I'm ready to drop off any minutel. The darn TEDs and cpm machine start tomorrow. I would like nice quiet knmees for tomorrows adventures. They deemed me unable to go to the bathroom today. I've got the bedpan down pat. We'll see tomorrow. Night all!

Janet, looks like you and the docs are on top of things Sounds like you and hubby had a great nap together, great healing powers!:thumb: I hope all turns out well for your leg.
Elmo sounds like my Mickey, these kids will keep us on alert I'm sure!:th_heehee:

Orthodoc, I have wound glue, so not good for drainage. I don't seem to have a lot of swelling, do have a lot of bruising. The incision from the biopsy must be doing okay as it doesn't bother me at all. The OS at the hospital took the stitches out before I left for rehab. Thanks for asking!

Janet, I laughed at your post--because it looked like the one that I posted from the hospital. The combination of a drugged brain and that silly keyboard on the iPad just about did me in!! I kept loosing posts and when I read the ones that I posted later--I laughed until I cried.

I hope all is well. this is a tough surgery. Kelly

Hi Janet, I was sure I sent you a message yesterday but I don't see it! Must be the drugs. Really hope you are getting on top of things now, you are having such a challenging time of it. Will say an extra prayer for you today.
All of you BTKR's are sooooo brave, sending ALL of you my good wishes & a hug x:friends:

Hi Janet, I hope you're feeling well this morning! Reetpteet mentioned above about "Must be the drugs", yes between the drugs and this new gadget the iPad who likes to chose the word for you to use, ya just never know what we end up posting until we go back to read it the next day usually since you're pooped by the time your done comprising what you want to say!

Can you imagine fighting a battle in this stopper? I see a senerio like this, " You want me to WHAT? I'll be right with you I need a nap first!:hysterical:

Hey Janet I remember in one of your posts you mentioning something about a device to hold your iPad as it got heavy at times. Did you ever come up with something that helped that? As mine almost went down as I was writing and playing games with hubby and the kids. When the eyes start to cross, I'm a goner!

Good morning Bone Smarties! I wonder what today will bring? I finally had the urge to GO this morning, first time in a week! But there was the dilemma. Me, the tech, the bedpan. Is this the way it's going to be? Is that even possible? But seize the moment I did, painless sucess for my efforts. Sorry Gabby, but at least it wasn't the cute young guy on the shift! Now, to get to the shower. Just a pipe dream?

Jacky, I like the iPad holder I got. It's like a bean bag roll with a handle that functions as a lip to hold it in place. It has a zippered pocket in it so I can actually put my iPad and glasses into it and carry it by the pillow handle. It works well for sitting in bed and can be squished around to different angles of viewing. I took the tag off, but will look on Amazon and see what it was. It's very low tech.

Hi Janet

Wow, you made it to the other side - with some style I have to say!! Congratulations on your two new knees and welcome to the other side. It sounds as if things are coming along nicely for you. I hope the redness sorts itself out and the antibiotics do their job. Well done in the toilet department today - that is always a good job to get done!!! Take care and keep us posted.

Wow Janet! You pulled it off and got business done when needed, that's a gift in itself!:yes 4: The shower is something to look forward to!:friends: enjoy it when it happens!

Thanks for the bean bag with a handle. I'll check for it on EBay and Amazon.

Have a great night kiddo get some good healing sleep!

Congrats to Janet, Reetpleet and Morning Glory on the arrivals of your new babies! It is great you have this forum to be on during this difficult and blurry time! I just found the forum three days ago in a desperate moment and have already benefited so much from reading other people's stories and advise. My advise during this time, when your babies are so brand new, is to make sure and drink A LOT of water and have hand sanitizer by the bed and in your pocket. Anytime anyone gets even near you, have them sanitize their hands. Anytime you wish to touch your new baby, sanitize your hands. In doing this, I didn't get any infection in my incision. (I even made a few professionals do it in the hospital :yes 4:) Protect your baby like you would.... a baby!

Sounds like you all have a lot in common and are such great support for each other! Also sounds like you are all doing so well! Keep up the good work! :thumb:
