Janet, have them make sure you are not anemic--that can make you light headed as well. K

Thanks, I think those are are both possible factors. I stabilized at about 8.6, so they did not do a blood transfusion. I have untreated borderline high blood pressure that has been creeping up. I'm getting real normal looking readings, but like I told him, it's a nice number, but it's not my number. My normal is higher. And I am getting up fast - to get it over with. Lots to reevaluate tomorrow.

I'm fine today, but I went to the emergency room at 2am, was admitted and then released at noon today. I arranged myself to sleep on my right side last night, and woke up with sharp pain in my ribs on my left side, which then upon moving and getting up spread all the way around to the right side of my chest, and up to my throat. I had a chest xray and cat scan and they ruled out a pulmonory embolism or blood clot. Then I saw the cardiologist and everything checked out perfectly, so they decided not to hold me for a stress test. Ahhumm. They decided not to hold me for a stress test. Just wanted to repeat that part. In the end they were comfortable sending me back supposing it was a muscular skeletal issue. I was comfortable with that as well.

All was not bad. Upon returning, I took a shower and washed my hair, which now feels like touching angel fluff! I put real clothes on for the first time! Of course, that means I need more help at the commode. But! I can reach my feet and once standing I can let go and stand long enough to assist in said clothes!

What some folks will do for a little attention!:th_heehee:

Just kidding, of course, Janet, so glad it resolved itself and was nothing to worry about.

Please make a note of that milestone of standing on your own and being able to pull those bloomers up. It will mean a lot on one of those down days---and should bring a smile to your face, too.

Take care, keep us posted, we care.

Wooooohh Janet, what a whirl wind you went through! Yikes!:what: I was always wondering when I would be able to lay on my side, and you did it! Yay, for you!:thumb: I'm such a chicken!
So glad you passed all your tests!:thumb: What a scary episode for you. That shower must have felt so wonderful after that scare, and angle fluff hair to top it all off! :wink1: I hope that's the last time you experience anything like that for sure!
I hope you have a great nights sleep! Take care my friend!:friends:

WOW! I could not sleep on my side for 3 months. Good for you! Now tonight get some good rest with no nite time field trips. You know they can be exhausting!:rolleyespink: Nite Nite Janet :friends:

I can say I slept on my side, but I can't say it was very successfully done given that I ended up in the hospital! :th_heehee: I haven't seen PT or OT for two days. Turns out no one told them I came back from the hospital! It really is neccessary to stay on top of things and advocate for yourself through this. In the hospital I was along for the ride, here I'm driving the bus, and sometimes need to get the bus on my own.

Glad to here you had an unevenful night! That bus thingy is a full time job in itself!:rolleyespink: You think everyone is on the same page, but what happens is when someone hands over the book and they forget to turn over one of the pages, and there you sit waiting for the next move only everything is at a stand still!:skeptical: Hopefully everything gets kick started again!
Have a great day!:friends:

I'm glad you didn't have any midnight adventures last night. And it is a shame that you really have to keep on top of everything, in the hospital as well as at home. The very first time the nurse brought me medication in the hospital she had my percocet and tramadol. Well thank God I knew I can NOT take tramadol since there are SEVERE interactions. A while back another doctor ordered that for me and the pharmacist almost passed out, said never ever take these meds together. I know that's in my records, I've told everyone a thousand times but still got a medication that could have killed me. So I'm looking forward to the survey that always comes, I have a story to tell them.
Good luck with that bus, hope it's not a bumpy ride!

I feel for people who ore perhaps more frail and unassertive, people who would not speak up or stand up for themselves in a situation where you are counting on others for care.

I finally got to PT today. The last time they measured I was 52/15. Today I was 91/2 and 80/6, so they were impressed.

Hi Janet, this is so helpful for me to read. How many days has it been since your operation now? Despite your emergency room trip you are doing so well, good luck.

Hi KayeKaye, it's been 9 days today. Every day or two shows jumps in progress. I'm surprising myself. I can do straight leg lifts straight up in the air and hold them. A couple days ago I was showing off that I could lift one of them 6 inches. I'm not doing a lot of walking yet though. It will all come with time, some things quicker than others. It hasn't been as bad as I imaginened, but I didn't imagine having to have it done without an epidural, so last week was rough. Have you had surgery? Do you have a date?

Great progress Janet, with all you've been through it goes to show that each day brings new improvements! Good stuff!:yahoo:
And, you are so right about people who are not capable of speaking up for themselves. For every single one of those people there is a person out there to take advantage of them, and those people for some reason can still sleep at night. I am one who believes in Karma, so therefore I believe that one day they will be in the same position and meet a person like themselves!

Hi Janet!
Just checking in on you. Sounds like you are doing so much better. Take care!
