Hip Infection* Izabel, Walking on Sunshine

Let's go with "no news is good news" on the bloodwork.

Pity party's, meltdowns, needing to be talked off the ledge, all acceptable. I read it!
You must not have received the Memo? :heehee:

I like your new avatar. Enjoy your beef in beer casserole tonight.
I hope tomorrow feels brighter :SUNsmile:
Big hugs
@Izabel

Thank you all (Dean, Mojo, SwampHiker and Layla) for your good wishes which are appreciated.

I was really having a bad morning yesterday. Leg felt like a log besides being numb and wouldn't move (I can't raise it off the bed anyway I guess because I don't have a hip joint) and have to move it with the help of my right foot. My skin has become dreadfully dry (I am a fanatic about my hair, skin and nails), no wrinkles/long strong hair and long strong nails, so I was putting Arnica cream on my leather-like flaky body and the tub slipped, fell and rolled on the floor which hubby had to retrieve. My toenails are growing like the clappers so hubby had to tend to them as well. He then had to help me put my knickers, leggings and footsies on! He then has to help me prepare for my exercises getting out the leg energiser , peddler and walker. :groan::gaah:

On the positive side, I do not have any pain (unless I move/twist to the left) and do not take pain meds, only a Paracetamol when I wake as I am stiff. I am sleeping 6-7 hour a night.
It's a new dawn, it's a new day ... and the sun is shining ...
:SUNsmile: :flwrysmile:

Don't know why everything must drop while we are in recovery.:shrug:
My dear husband turned Retriever as well:sigh:
Glad your pain is not too bad...and yes, is a New Day!
Hope it's a Good Day.:yes:

Thank you Mojo ... I hope you have had (will have) a good day too.

Just got a call from the hospital saying appointment with Dr Pinto on 21 December followed by blood tests. She doesn't know my results and said maybe he would ring me ... bet it will be tomorrow after group meeting. :fingersx: But as Layla says "no news is good news". :sigh:

Sorry you had a bad day yesterday, Izabel. I hope today feels brighter.
If it hasn't been suggested yet, try a leg lifter for lifting your leg. You can find a photo of one in the
Recovery Aids if your unfamiliar. I've often heard the belt from a bathrobe works just as well.

Hubby sounds like a loving helpful spouse, your blessed. Nothing makes you feel older than a walker, cane and needing assistance to dress. Best thing....it's only temporary. :yay: :happydance:
Hope today is a good one!
@Izabel

Hoping that phone rings with some good news in the morning :angel:

@Izabel Hi, hoping you get those results today, i so know how you feel, every tuesday morning i have the same. Hopefully the sun is shining and you are able to absorb those beautiful rays. Hugs and lovexxx

@Layla Haven't heard anything today so go with your 'no news is good news' theory. He would have called me in if there was a problem or changes in medication need be made rather than making appointment for the 21st. I guess when he saw me Friday he thought I looked well and did ask (as he always does) how I feel in myself.

Regarding lifting leg ... for both my first hip op four years ago and knee op earlier this year, I got quite adept at tucking my right foot behind my left foot and hoiking it up on/off the bed with ease, just can't do leg lifts ... unless I use my right foot!

@clodaghcov, are you having weekly testing still? xx

I would agree, Izabel. You'd think if the results were unfavorable they would have contacted you by now.
Not sure what time it is in Portugal currently....I'm noon / Tuesday as I type, but if the office is open you could always call and check on the results for peace of mind.

I like your leg lifting idea! As long as it works, why not.
I hope you're having a good day. Enjoy the rest of it :)
@Izabel

@Izabel Yes i still have them weekly on a Monday this will go on intil mid January then i think if things are settling we will forget bloods for a time, as you know pain and feeling ill are the best and worst signs of infection. You sound to be doing wonderfully,this time with my spacer i can actually lift my leg very well,not sure how that can be!! Big hugsxxx

Wow @Izabel ! Just read through your thread, and I just wanna give you a cyber hug for all you’ve been through. ((((((Isabel)))))). I don’t think an occasional pity party is at all a bad thing- it can be kind of a purge, leaving room in its wake for happier, more hopeful feelings to flow in. Sending good vibes for continued healing your way.

Hi @Izabel :wave:
Hope you are feeling well!
This is a very busy time for me this year as we are inundated with donations for the food bank.
:dead:
Along with allowing my new hips to get right, my recovery period gave me some quiet introspective time ...
I know you are ready to get back to life...but do take pleasure in the little things we often miss when we are back to life in a big way!

I am so hoping you are going to have a great year next year!

Hugs!:santa hug:

@Izabel I cracked up laughing at you describing how you’d hook your other leg to lift the “log” leg with the spacer as I did the same! I just couldn’t lift it at all (actually even now with the revision surgery while I can lift the leg into bed with no problem I still can’t lift it to put my shoe on on that leg). This too shall pass. Let yourself have pity parties when needed. My ID dr even said to me “cry when you need to, you have been through hell”. Lord knows between the infections making us feel rotten, the spacers having a life of their own at times (mine used to rotate on me in the middle of the night) and being dependent on others for so much, well, we are entitled to get emotional now and then.

Hi @Izabel
Happy Friday! I hope you've been doing well since you last posted.
Crazy, busy days for most. Just heard on the t.v. it's the shortest day of the year. That's great news as we'll be heading back in the right direction. :yay: Cold and Wintery here today.:snow plough:
Hope yours is bright and sunny! :SUNsmile:

@Mojo333. Please do not join the ODIC Club helping everyone else over the holidays ... make some time for YOU. xx

@Layla. We always have a quiet time at Christmas, just the two of us ... we met on Christmas Day 1967 and married the following April! We are going to 18c today and will probably eat Christmas lunch on the patio in the sunshine. We rarely have frost here ... let alone snow! :shocked:

@Whoknew ... I am glad someone else uses my technique. :friends: When I did it in the hospital this last time, the Physio was impressed. It is SO easy.

Saw my Surgeon this morning followed by bloods and things are going in the right direction. CRP 10.5, should be under 5, and SED down to 36, should be under 30, on last check, 7 December Anybody got any secrets on getting them within limits? With the holiday season he is not sure when we will get today's results. My next appointment with Surgeon and bloods is 15 January so antibiotics till then at least. :oyvey:

I will keep popping in to see how everyone is but in the meantime I wish everyone ...

Christmas has come and gone and I am not pleased with my hopping with the walker one one leg. It is more than uncomfortable and it feels as if my arms will collapse, so I have shelved that so as not to cause more trauma.

No news on my blood results so guess I will have no news till the 15th January. It has been a rough 15 months with no walking so I am vigilant to get up every morning to use the leg energiser and peddler ... at least it is 30 minutes a day of leg muscle exercise.

@Layla or @Mojo333, would one of you sweet things have Admin change my title to Izabel, Waiting for the New Dawn. Thank you and sending love to you both. xx I have changed my Avatar to a photo of a new dawn taken from our upper deck.

Will put in for the change, Izabel.

I'm so sorry you're getting a bit tired of it all. It's understandable for sure.
It sounds like you planned to have a lovely Christmas. I hope you enjoyed the day with hubs.
Wishing you lots of comfort as you await your next appointment.
Big hugs to you!
@Izabel

Beautiful picture...love that you are still looking to a bright future.

I wish I could fast forward things for you to get you through this tough stuff, and on to better times.
:console2:
Much sympathy and healing mojo coming your way from me.
Hope you hear something soon!
