Hip Infection* Izabel, Walking on Sunshine

I still have a bit of numbness in the back of my thigh and lower leg and a tightness in my knee ... is this normal at six weeks?
Was for me @Izabel !
Still such early days...
I did some easy massage on my leg and tried to kind of walk in place and stretch upon first standing to let things fire up before walking.

Glad it is good weather...hope you can get out some!
Keep the faith.

Good morning @Izabel I really hope that it is normal because I too have numbness. Left cheek, back of thigh, still some on thigh on non operated leg and as I am a gentleman will not mention the other numb bits.

Hi Dean. I just noticed I am only two days ahead of you so perhaps our numbness is 'normal', but my non-operated leg is fine and I don't have the 'other bits' to worry about ... but my inner cheeks are sore from sitting/propping up on them for too long! :praying: for the day when I can get up and walk any old time.

My friend who visited on Friday is having her RTHR today at the same hospital as mine 9The 'big' 52 bed' private hospital by the sea). I am keeping everything I can cruzado but I am sure she will do well although she has a different Surgeon than me and suffered a stroke a few years ago.
Watching some true crime dramas ... I love criminology and forensics. :good-bad:

Hi @Mojo333 That is very reassuring, thank you. I do the stretching but can't manage the walking YET! Doing a LITTLE :upright:but looking forward to :walking:and :bath: .

Hi @Izabel I shall ask the surgeon on our behalf if the numbness is normal, seeing him tomorrow evening for my 6 week thingy - will reserve judgement but guessing he will say it is. I think its the sitting bone area that I find the most uncomfortable but now I took @SwampHiker advice I have graduated to duvet, pillows, cushion on top of settee and apart from my fear of heights am enjoying the bliss. I do however still do the ice ice baby thing.
Love the crime series myself, Montabalno Sicilian series, Killing, Bridge, Beck, The Keeper of Lost Causes, Wallender - loved all these, great viewing...

:hi: Hi Izabel,
Just catching up on your thread this morning and it sounds like you're doing really well.
Busy too with all that Afghan making. Even giving some of your handiwork away to charity. How generous.
I have to say that your sweet spirit through this Infection / Revision set-back is admirable and inspirational.
I fear if it was me I'd be a big old crab most days.
I hope today is a good day and the rest of your week peaceful.
@Izabel

@Izabel Hi, it is certainly normal Izabel, i think there is so much work our nerves are trying to repair, they have been manhandled and are protesting!!

Actually when i have had hip operations i have quite often had foot problem as well and that is all part of the spacer/hip story, unusual sensations where everything was moved around, especially with a spacer its had double handling!!

Enjoy the sunshine,it is very wet and warm here, have a happy day. Hugsxxx

Thank you all for confirming I am not alone in this strangeness at this stage of the game.

@Jamesdean. I get Crime Investigation channel and currently have Robbie Coltrane hosting Criminal Evidence and there are some odd programmes on about Cults! :bolt:

@Layla ... you are such a doll. We support our Bombeiros (Firemen) as they are Voluntary and have such a difficult job to do. We also support animal charities and the Cruz Vermelha (Red Cross). So many people have so little and we can afford to assist.

@clodaghcov. Olá minha amigadinha. Take care. xx

Off to exercise now then pick up my crochet hook. :) :-) (:

Exercised and had lunch, cottage cheese with a couple of pineapple rings. Shall have a cup of tea now and have decided to make a list of things I want to do when able (hopefully March-ish), these include ...
  • Sort out wardrobe (can't stand long to do so now) and give things to charity.
  • Sort out drawers and clothes shelving unit (can't bend to do so now) and give things to charity
  • Organise shoes (I probably have 30+ pairs, some brand new). Gave away high heels years ago..
  • Clean lampshades.
  • Plant seedlings (already bought seeds expecting miracles after last hip op). Have some exotics.
  • Put kitchen back in order which I know will be in disarray, hubby having charge of it for 18 months by then.
  • Lots of:walking::walking::walking: and :upright::upright::upright:
  • Jump up and do whatever I want to do when I want to do it ...
Hope everyone has a nice day.:loveshwr:

@Izabel Excellent positive thinking. Me too, today must be the day. Booked second week of June holiday and September holiday...Will let you know what surgeon says tonight about me being dumb..oops Freudian slip...meant numb

And you will! Although I don't know about that kitchen situation :sos::sigh:

@Jamesdean
Hiya Dean, thank you Kind Sir for enquiring but I for one will be pleased when it goes fora.

About to do my exercises then pick up my crochet. I am doing a black/light grey afghan for charity and should I have any yarn left over I shall attempt the willy warmer with pockets for marbles.
:heehee:

Tem boa dia. :flwrysmile:

Jump up and do whatever I want to do when I want to do it ...
Won't that be the best! I'm excited for you to get there, Izabel.
I like your list above, it reminds me I need to vacuum the lampshades, something I've been wanting to do but keep forgetting.....actually procrastinating :heehee:
Enjoy crocheting the Afghan and have a great rest of the day!
@Izabel

Had my blood tests yesterday. While I was waiting in Reception my Surgeon was passing through, saw me and came over to chat. Now waiting for call with results ... seems like it is one big waiting game, one thing after another for me. If he has to speak to ID Doctor, may have to wait till Tuesday after 'group meeting' when they all discuss current patients. :sigh:

@Layla, I have these little pillows that fit in your hand and contain a crushed rubber inside and you rub/scrub them over the lampshades and it removes dirt.

PS Forgot to say, my friend is out of hospital, doing well and walking with crutches outside but with a walker I loaned her (one without wheels I don't use) indoors.

Fingers crossed those results are good. I hope you have plenty of yarn to help you unwind while you wait.

I'm so glad your friend is doing well. How nice of you to loan her your walker.

Wishing you comfort as you wait :flwrysmile:

Hi @Izabel
Prayers that the result of your blood work is good. Hopefully you heard and don't have to wait until Tuesday.
I hope you're having a good weekend so far. It's nice to hear your friend is doing well also.
Thanks for the tip on the lampshade puffs. I'll check the store, or Amazon.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Had a bit of a pity party this morning and poor hubby was in the line of fire for ... why me? what did I do to deserve all this? I miss my independence and hate being so reliant for the simplest things .. yada yada yada ...

Hubby is being nice and did French toast for brunch and is attempting a beef in beer casserole for dinner, bless him since he normally does frozen/prepared food, which is not good for either of us. He is gaining weight which is my fault causing stress ... he really doesn't know what stress is! I haven't heard about my bloods so of course I am thinking the worst ... but secretly hoping for the best.

Rant over, thanks for listening.

Did my exercises and sat in comfy tub chair for 3 hours now propped up in bed looking out window (wide open as it is 21c) at beautiful garden and sunshine.
I have cheered myself up by changing my avatar
. :mooncat:

Oh @Izabel
I'm sorry you are feeling blue.:console2:
No-one can buck up all the time and you really have tried very hard, I think, to stay upbeat.
what did I do to deserve all this?
Nothing. Bad things happen to good people too.

:fingersx: for the best of news on your bloodwork.
Sending all the best mojo I can muster!:loveshwr:

I'm sorry you are feeling down today. This hip been such a long and winding road for you. Sending some whimsical filled energy your way. I love your new Avatar!
