Hi Natalie, well your head must be in a spin after your appointment on Friday. I think maybe you should make contact with Dr maale and see if he will make do with the scans and x rays you have done here? It will give you a chance to explain your situation and to maybe get some input from him that could help with your treatment here.

Natalie, you should contact Dr Maale and at least let him know what's occurring, if only to confirm that you are interested in his offer and intend to avail yourself of it.

The more resources you explore the more likely you are to find a best answer for your knee.
 
I'm sorry guys had a bit of an accident I'm ok but very very sore I fell on the stairs (going up them!)and really whacked my knee so I've been resting (zonked on meds too) under strict instructions from the doctor to elevate ice and rest or I'm to go into hospital so I've done as I'm told.
I'm posting from my iPhone as soon as I feel up to it I'll get on the laptop and copy the email onto here.

Sorry I haven't talked to you in a while! I am excited that you are working on the Dr. Maale route. He wanted to know why they hadn't removed the SC when they did the TKR.
 
Natalie....sweetie.....my heart breaks for you. You have to be one of the toughest people I have ever known!!!! Please accept some hugs from me along with my hopes that you feel better soon. Don't give up!!! I do think it's a great idea to email Dr. Maale as soon as you're up to it.

Dr Maale,

Thankyou so much for agreeing to have a look at my case.I know Sonja told you a small piece of my case history I was diagnosed in 2004 with Synovial Chondromatosis after an arthroscopy and biopsy.
Several scopes and Synevectomies later I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis and advised to have a TKR and at the time I thought this was the answer.21 months on I realise it wasn't after a spell of relief (reduced medication and walking with one crutch) things seemed to be ok and my surgeons prognosis was I would always have pain and problems with my walking and I accepted this.8 weeks ago things became so much worse I couldn't weight bear and the pain was so intense I revisited my surgeon and they performed an EUA and aspiration and all results were good.
The next step is a scan to look for the SC as they are sure it's causing the symptoms.Theyve also said it could be surgical pain and the synovium was described as "grey" at the TKR and no SC was removed at this time but previous operations and scans showed some left behind that was too dangerous to remove.
I can get you recent x rays and when I have the scan the results of this.
If there is anything else I can get for you please let me know.
I hope you can offer me some advice or help so far the prognosis isn't very good and I'm currently housebound and in severe pain and only 32 with 2 children and a husband an I hope that I won't be like this forever

Sonja I always thought they had and never even asked after the TKR then when I was there the other day I asked and he said they just did straightforward TKR so put the tourniquet on 1st and it would have been too dangerous to remove any after this.So I asked if he would have looked for any SC and he said he probably didn't as the only notes is about it was the mention of the grey synovium I'm baffled by it all!!
 
I'm still very sore but feeling better than yesterday I have had equipment delivered from OT so that felt good to be able to push a cup of tea and sandwich to the table today safely!
The hospital rang this morning to let me know they are still trying to decide which is the best way to scan me!

Natalie, that is why Dr. Maale receives all of the most difficult cases. He will fid a way to get rid of the SC and get you back to "living again!":yahoo:
