THR Here I go again!

Good Morning @julesglass

Hoping you get a cool down soon. We were over 100 yesterday, but storms last night have us at 76 this morning. Feels amazing. Loved Criminal Minds. Another series I enjoyed was Suits. It’s on Amazon prime. You are almost to 2 weeks. Looks like you are doing really well. Hoping you have a restful, steady healing week.

Morning @Fit4Family. I had forgotten about Suits. That was on awhile back, don't remember the channel. I enjoyed that one also, the honesty of one and the arrogance of the other. You'd like mind hunters. WiFi hook up tomorrow morning then refresh on first series, set to go for new series in August. The tease is that Charles Manson is going to be part of new series. Temps have dropped here and I'm enjoying being outside through out the day. I'm doing good for almost two weeks. After the rough start with swelling and getting oxycodone it's going very good. Enjoy the day, take care. :egypdance:

Will check out Mind Hunters. So glad you have cooler weather. Being outside must feel great! @julesglass

Great report, @julesglass--still a long way to go for full recovery, but these baby steps along the way are so encouraging, aren't they? The visuals of you battening down the hatch was fun to read! Hope this is a good week upcoming for you, and by the end you'll be smiling at the progress you'll have made. And chuckled at your nose stud story, @Fiona444, I can't imagine picking up something so tiny with a grabber but you did it--hurray for you! I never got one for my last surgery or this one, but managed the "golfer's reach" such that I was able to pick up most things from the floor if it was essential.

Ok @julesglass now you have me interested in this Mind Hunters series, will have to look it up. Sounds really interesting.

@Fiona444 that was too funny!

Early morning to all. I have become the newest ODIC member.:bored: I was feeling so good, sun shining, temps was just right I felt like I was walking on sunshine. I had loaded the dishwasher the night before so I got it unloaded yesterday morning. Thought that wasn't bad so figured out how to do a load of laundry. Carry dirty stuff in grocery bags and then toss into dryer. Used my grabber pulling each item out and fold them, back into bags to carry off to dresser. I was so proud of myself I got it done without dropping the bags of clean clothes. :wink: Figured I'd take my afternoon nap and then prep the meatloaf for dinner. The weather finally being cooler now was the time to use the oven. I did take a break after chopping onion, crushing crackers and mixing in the eggs. Deb showed up while I took my break asking if she could help. I happily replied "no I got this". Got it ready, set the oven and she put it in to cook. Waiting for it to cook I remembered I had a large potatoe to microwave to split between us. I check the meatloaf and it was done. I was feeling good so I took it out of the oven. We fixed our plates and she carried them to the livingroom. Now mind you during all this Deb asked me several times if she could help. I told her "no I'm fine, I got this". Two hrs later after she went home I was exhausted and hit the bed. Now I woke up to pee and my left leg aches horribly. There's a country song where he keeps repeating the line "what was I thinking" as he finds himself in a jam after jam. That's going through my head now "what was I thinking" :flabber:. I wasn't thinking that's for sure. Well dirt dishes will wait till tomorrow and Deb will do this... :no-fin: I won't forget this for awhile. Now I wait for the dawn and as I go through the day I will hear "what WAS I thinking" dummy. Lesson learned till I forget, not in the near future though. Take it easy, gotta go get ice.:curtsey:

Oh bless you @julesglass ! You did do an awful lot though. I know what you mean, it feels so good at the time....until it doesnt. I did similar on my first day on my own. The next day I could have cried and felt very sorry for myself. Ice, meds and REST today you will be good to go again tomorrow.

@julesglass sorry you seem to have inadvertently joined the ODIC. Rest, elevate and ice today and hopefully you'll be good tomorrow. It's so hard knowing when to stop, feels so good to be doing stuff on our own. :console2:

I also learned (several times) the Hard Way.

Lessons learned:
It never hurts until we stop.
Just because we can, does not mean we should.

Chill today and healing hugs are coming your way.

Welcome to the ODIC! It's so true what Mojo says, we don't even know that we over did it until much later.
I am noticing this time around that I tend to get emotional or grumpy for want of a better word. No pain but it's like my nervous system is crying out to me. I'm learning to listen and watch for that.

Well, ice and rest and elevate.. this too shall pass. :flwrysmile:
@julesglass

Oh, dear, @julesglass--old habits (like being independent and not wanting others to bother) die hard, don't they? I think everyone can appreciate and relate to your story. It's hard to let others do things that normally we'd have no problem doing ourselves, but you got a lesson on why that is sometimes not such a good thing for a recovering hipster! Hope you're taking it easy today, and that tech folks got you all set up so lots of mindless shows to watch as you're sitting/lying there, babying that hip and leg!

Sorry you are hurting but take it as a good sign of healing that you wanted to do all that. Now you just have to learn to do one thing per day or so when feeling perky. Feeling alive and perky is a good thing but so is moderation - we all learn it one way or another as our hips are great teachers but unforgiving at times.

Another day has come to an end. Got WiFi hooked up and Deb and I watched first three episodes of mind hunters. New season airs Aug 13th. Boredom is setting in, time to break out the word puzzle book and sketch pad. Tired of the court judge shows and such. Muscles in my thigh and my knee are sore, no more swelling. Lucy did something and now she's limping around. I've been giving her an anti-inflammatory pill from vet, not helping much. I'll get her to vet as soon as I can drive. Figure I'll get a head start on sleeping tonight since I wake up a couple times during the night. I keep finding myself pushing the walker out ahead of my steps, gotta stop that. I might try going down the deck to the tree tomorrow. You all take care... good night.:sleeep:

Haven't been able to sleep yet. :bored:My mind keeps going here and there. Maybe it's the ice tea I drink during the day and no "real" activity.. I called in for an other script. I'd been taking 5mg oxycodone past few days however after over doing it Mon I'm going to have to go back to 10mg for a day or two, gotta get this back under control. I've read there are some that have been able to kick the walker to the side. I wish I could do that now also. Got first check up Thurs and it would be great to walk in with my leopard spotted cane, not happening. I am going to get down into my yard tomorrow, sit under my tree. This part, first couple weeks are the pits however I know it's all good even when it's not. Okay.... I'm going to try this sleep thing again!

Hi @julesglass getting the painkillers is a good move. I did that and then did NOTHING for the next day. I was terrified that I had done something bad. Not so and all was good after pure rest. I hope you get some sleep and feel stronger when you wake.

i hope you are soundly sleeping right now. :sleep: Love the description of your cane!
Take it easy today and hopefully you will bounce right back.
