THR Here I go again!

@julesglass i am praying that you get your pain meds sorted. It is the worst thing to be worrying about. It sounds like this hip is more difficult than the last?

I also take the xarelto. I am supposed to take one a day at the same time each evening. They were very keen to stress that i must adhere to their instructions. Imagine my horror the other day when I realised i had taken 2 of them in the morning thinking they were my painkillers :rofsign:Told my hubs and he said “best not shave your legs today” :heehee:

I hope today brings you more comfort along with your pills

I had constipation issues after my surgery and it was a happy happy day when all started going.:dubious:
My moms suggestion was to get a magazine, sit and relax. Yeah, right!
Barely could stay on toilet long enough to pee with two new hips:sigh:

Hope today is the day.:fingersx:

Digestive issues are the worst. Hope it resolves quickly. I had luck with cooked apples, peal included. Narcotics all made it worse. Had to laugh that Walmart is always out of prunes and bleach. Inquiring minds? :heehee:

What!:gaah: blood thinner!! Nurse told me it was stool softener!

Are you confusing Xarelto it with Dulcolax...possibly? They both contain x's in their names. Please understand I'm not trying to insult your intelligence, but only recognizing this as a mistake I could have made early on in my post anesthetic haze. If a nurse gave you that info....it's scary that she's caring for people.

Following is an article on constipation - https://bonesmart.org/forum/threads/constipation-and-stool-softeners.4899/

I've read here that Pumpkin Puree also works, with Pumpkin Puree being the ONLY ingredient in the can. Sprinkled with some Cinnamon...may be worth a try if all else fails.

Hope today is a great day!
@julesglass

Better days are here for my bowels! :loveshwr: I pooped!!!:yes!:. Lots of sound affects on my part, it happened. Checked the mail, no script. I called office immediately and waiting to hear from nurse when it went in mail. Just talked to nurse, it did get mailed. Must of been last pick up. Well... I'll belted in and get ready for the ride today.

Yay for the first half...boo for the second.
It seems so wrong you have to jump through hoops to guarantee you have satisfactory pain relief
available only 6 days post op. I hope you get this worked out soon.
Wishing you comfort today.
@julesglass

Oh, @julesglass, it sounds like you're struggling a bit--so sorry! You could try eating prunes maybe, as I think the juice is horribly sweet--but I just considered the prunes to be giant raisins and happily had a few with every meal. I can't believe that nurse told you that Xarelto was a stool softener! That's just crazy! Hope today is a better day, and those meds get sorted for you. I got told the same thing, that I had to either pick up (yeah, right...) a new prescription for heavy narcotics or they'd send it to me via "snail mail". Luckily, I have some left over from hip #1 so I think I'll be fine this time around. Hang in there--it WILL get better as you know from round 1.

I checked the bottle as I typed it in @Layla, I think I misunderstood her. She might of said to pick up stool softener. I've got peaches, bran cereal and prune juice now. Pain has increased some along the incision area and goes down to the knee when I walk. I guess one more night in my recliner is fine. I look forward to the bed tomorrow. I did step out on the deck last night, so nice. Did get a shower yesterday also, refreshing time. Take care of yourself.

Under the category TMI
from Amazon. Look at the Squatty Potty
Supposedly helps with efficient elimination
But boy does it break the 90 degree rule!
I learn of weird products in Facebook for sure

Hi again @julesglass
I'll bet your stash of fruit and bran will keep you regular. Hopefully you did misunderstand the nurse, otherwise I'd hate to envision others under her care.

Please Ice any areas of discomfort for 40-60 mins, no less, each time you ice. Hard to think of you hurting.
I'd do it several times a day, if you're not already. It will most likely help ease your pain.

I slept comfortably in my recliner for three weeks before I attempted the bed, so you're doing well!
Good to hear you made it out on the deck last night for some fresh air. A shower makes everything seem better while in early recovery. Yay for a squeaky clean julesglass! :yay:

I feel like we are celebrating somebody who is finally potty trained..:heehee: Congratulations @julesglass !! But horribly disappointed for you in regards to the pain meds. That just seems so terribly wrong and calloused..
Enjoy the recliner.. mine has been so helpful. many nights I sleep about 2 hours in bed and return to my recliner. She's my new best friend.

My first sleepless night. Too much aching in my knee tonight. I want to get in my bed soooo bad. Believe me, I seriously thought about it however Deb's been going home in the evenings and I'm afraid I'll get stuck. Not up to watching a movie. I did a no no earlier this afternoon. I woke up from a nap, mom called saying she was bringing things over from store. Deb wasn't here so I tried calling her, no answer. I then headed to my commode and instead went into bathroom and proceeded to sit on my toilet falling on to seat and back into the tank. I screamed, Lucy ran. I got myself up thinking "Oh now I've done it, screwed everything up". I think I'm alright, no new pain or anything. I've caught myself going in to bathroom a couple of times however thinking about my mom walking across my uneven yard to the front porch and Deb not there got me raddled. Mom made it to th porch and back to her car without falling, thank goodness. I think I'm having a post depression moment. It's still all good even when it's not, right?

Morning @julesglass i am sorry you are having a rough time. Sleepless in seattle here too with aches and discomfort. It is so scary to do a sudden move and the think that we have done damage. I did similar yesterday when i was walking downstairs. My clutch slipped off the stair and my op leg crashed into the stair below. It took my breath away with pain. We both survived to face another day though :happydance:

I cant watch a movie yet but have been watching series on Netflix that i can put down when had enough. Heres to a better day with less pain. Are you taking enough pain relief?

:hi:
I'm sure that your stumble was terribly unnerving.:flabber:
Between the weakness and instability, and the medication which often affected my steadiness, we Do have to be careful.
I had a two wheeled Walker due to my double trouble so I felt fairly stable and had to transfer to toilet mindfully and had the riser that fit over commode with stable handles to grasp.
Have to be very mindful where and how we put our feet.
Dont let this shake you up too much my friend...just a cautionary tale.
It's going to keep getting easier.
It's still all good even when it's not, right?
It is still good, and will steadily improve.:tada:
Keep the faith my friend.:roseshwr:

Gotta a few hours sleep. Got the script this morning. Deb took it in and got it filled. Now I can relax better, sleep better and smile more! :eyebrows: Just gave me a weeks worth... I think. 50 pills one or two 4-6 hrs. I'll have to put it to paper. Swelling is down, pipes are clear. Another shower and ride over to work to drop off paper work for my Aflac. Take care to all of you.

Great news! It sounds like things are falling into place. I'm happy to hear it.
Getting some sound sleep sure helps and knowing you now have meds on hand hopefully eases your anxiety.
Enjoy your car ride! You can't help but get excited like a little kid about going bye-bye in the car after being cooped up. :heehee: I know I was.
Have a great Wednesday!
@julesglass
