THR Hawai'i Healing Hipster

Love that the light at the end of the tunnel is closer! I'm somewhat of an expert on overdoing it myself :loll:and prescribe ice cream, ice, elevation and plenty of pampering for the rest of the day. Then, hopefully, you'll feel great tomorrow.

Thats usually the way it is. It feels ok at the time when your busy and in motion but you stiffen up when you slow down/stop. It's kind of like drinking - by the time you realize you've had too much, you've had too much! Then you just try to do a little less the next time (or be prepared for the consequences).

Hi @AgilityDog
Hope you've recovered from the ODIC.
Easy enough to gain access...
The place has a bad rep, no one seems to like it :rotfl:
Live and learn, I guess.
Hope you're feeling better and wishing you a great week!!

Hope you are feeling better today, AgilityDog.
We all have to find our boundaries with our healing bodies.
We do figure it out, most of the time the hard way.:umm:

I'm happy so far with PT. As soon as it's a Pain, I stop. :oyvey: Not one bit of challenge from the PT folks. They even remind me to pay attention to what hurts or feels odd to tell them at my next visit. :oyvey: Because I even did my exercises over the weekend. One isometric didn't hurt while I was doing it....but after, those abductors were mad! :bignono:

When you are counting :cheers2:or lifting weights, :beer:it is much easier to find a point to back off. Those isometric exercises are easier (for me) to overdo. :mute:

Hi there :hi:
Sounds as though you have great PT. I'm happy you're enjoying it @AgilityDog
Hope your day is wonderful! :)

Thank you! They had me Ride the Bike yesterday. I have my little Josephine bike at home. I did 1/2 revolutions. And my 'old leg' did the pushing. The New Leg followed. I even had my ROM checked on my non-bionic leg.

Have a great day, @Layla

I’m finding bike is helping loosen stuff up @AgilityDog. Just making sure I take it slow and easy. Walking without cane goes better after bike time.

I am fine walking around the house with out a cane. (Everything is not more than 20 steps) I had not thought about doing a half revolution on the bike. @MammaT I knew my 'good leg' was doing most of the work for a while, but, man-oh-man! My bionic leg is weak.

Mine is too @AgilityDog. It took time for it to get as weak as it did, so I have to give it time to recover. That’s why they say full recovery can take a year or so.

That loosening up is a great feeling @SaraK.

Yes, it is! For me, the cycle was a pain reliever.

If you're doing PT, ask PT. otherwise, I'd check with OS office. I didn't have 90 degree rule or other restrictions and knew PT would start using it at first appt 2 days after surgery so I checked with him beforehand and he gave me guidelines. I went to gym and used the one there the day after surgery. others have you wait for some period -like so many other things, different PT or OS have different opinions.

My os said I could start after 2 week visit(I had no restrictions except plant and turn). My in home pt started me off at 5 minutes and have been building up since. I agree with Sara, best to check with your doc.

I'm off to find my instructions for driving a standard transmission

Wrong. Instructions just mention driving. I called the OS office. Waiting for a call back.

A friend borrowed the auto transmission vehicle and it stopped on a highway, blocking a lane of traffic. Now it is being towed. I have a vehicle I know how to drive. Standard Transmission. 5 speed stick.:happydance:

You mean a clutch, right? I am glad I switched to automatic a few years ago!

:rotfl::loll::rofsign:

I loaned the one vehicle with automatic transmission to a friend this morning. (Our other vehicles have standard transmission. I took my drivers test in an auto that had a stick shift. No power steering or brakes.) But, I just got my new Left bionic hip. That is the leg I need for the clutch. I think I should wait a bit longer before I use my Left leg to push in the clutch. The loaned car stopped on the highway and has been towed. I am left with a little car with a clutch
