Big day for me tomorrow going to knee replacement Class and RA doctor to see if can continue with my RA shots.

I was visiting my daughter last night when
I asked if I could borrow a newspaper.

"This is the 21st century" she said. "We don't waste money on
newspapers. Here… use my iPad."

I can tell you this….. that gol darn fly never knew what hit him...

madinana,
When you go to joint class, there will be a social worker, you could ask her (I forgot her name) about the Cryo-cuff, she may be able to help you. Don't let PT Nancy scare you, Nice girl, but a little out there LOL. My surgery is set for 6am Tuesday the 8, so I should be up and walking some, by time you get settled in your room. I will see if I can visit you on Thursday, if it's ok. I hoping to be able to leave Thursday night or Friday.

Madinana, you are so lucky to have found this site before your surgery. You have received the best information and tips...I didnt find this till about 2 wks after surgery. Finding BS saved my sanity....you will do fine because you are prepared:)

- I don't like making plans for the day because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around in the courtroom.

- You can tell a lot about a woman's mood just by her hands. If they are holding a gun, she's probably ####ed-off

- I didn't make it to the gym again today. That makes five years in a row.

You are lucky to have found this forum pre op as you will be well prepared. You wont be able to keep track with pad and pen . You will be too doped up. Download a phone app. Do not miss a scheduled dose and elevate and ice all day. You will be fine. Than after a few months you will benefit from this miraculous surgery. Its life changing . Embrace it with confidence . !! Iceman

@mark2667 @tiredwife @icep707 Well I had my class today and it has my nerves up and shakin The physical therapist scared the crapt out of me. I have to report at 10am on Wednesday I was doing fine until I went to this class as been reading and reading every day mainly recovery thread here on bonesmart. Mark that girl was out there alright and she said be ready for me to hurt you and all I could think of was NO NO NO Am I doing the right thing, getting this done. I gonna be in pain either way. Its terrible I am a whimp for pain. Yea Mark you can stop in if you can figure out who I am lol I have longer hair grown out a little bit I guess I need to get my nerves under control I will do some reading later Mark how did you know she was gonna freak me out:yikes::sos:

@madinana Sorry your nerves are getting the better of you. Yes you hurt now and you will hurt after the replacement, but if you don't get it done your knees will probably only get worse. At the rate my husband was going in a few years he would have been wheelchair bound.
Only you know if you are ready.
As far as the PT goes - you don't have to see her. No one can make you.

Hi madinana
I am having my second TKR done July 7th. My first was 8 months ago. I was so afraid and in a total panic :) but it really turned out wonderful. I never really had too much pain. All the things I feared never happened :) The funny thing is right before my surgery my family got sick and i was frantic that i would get sick (which i did a week after the tkr) but now my family is coming down with a cold and cough again right before my surgery!! i thought Id be safe in the summer lol so thats worrying me a little. Im praying God gets me through this surgery like He did the other :) I believe He will. Praying for a good surgery and quick healing for you too!

madinana,
I work with a couple guys that have had Nancy the PT for hip and knee replacements, They told me that she is very pushy mentally but not so much phyically, she gets you mad so you will get up and go, not lay around. I was the young one in a class of 18 people and also the only one getting Bilaterial, So she pointed me out and basiclly stated that she will make me cry, so I challanged her that two night stay and I will be walking out of the hospital kicking her bum. She accepted. I love a challange.
My wife had 2 lower spinal disc fused last year she was Arnot same floor different wing. She was very much in pain after 12 hours in surgery, things just were not going right. They put her in a room with a mental women up all night. I spoke up a couple times to the staff with no results, then morning came I flew off the handle. The social worker that you met at class made everything good, 5 minutes after talking to her, my wife was moved to a private room and had the best nurses night and day for her 4 day stay. Don't be nervous it will all work out. Don't be quite, speak up if something is not going right for you. You are the customer, the staff prides themselves on being the best. You may have to remind them once in a while.
Call me if you have any problems, I'll be your butt kicker for ya. :tantrum2:

Madinana, please try to relax. From what Mark says, Nancy sounds like a cheerlearder. Just remember that you have the power to say 'STOP" if your pushed to far. You might think you are not strong enough to say stop but pain automatically gives u the strength to say it loudly...You are definitely doing the right thing. I wondered the same thing but as my husband poited out, the pain after surgery will be short lived. The pain you have now will only get worse. I found that the pain was controllable. Hang in there, its going to get better:)

@tiredwife well good morning to you and hubby After a good night sleep feel much better I have appointment so am off will explain Later So it a brand new day!!!!:yahoo:
