Bilateral THR Grateful Double Hippy

Dug.... Dug... Dug!!!!!!!! DAC

I'm so proud of you mojo you're really progressing beyond what you give yourself credit for

Good to see all the supportive messages (especially after a tough night trying to sleep) Still can't figure out to get comfortable for very long, probably because I'm still very protective about laying on my side. Want to give all credit to doing so well to the advice I have tried to follow from all of you. Slow down, rest, ice.. Giving myself time to heal and realizing that I just needed to give my body time to heal and that meant doing alot of nothing. Drove me crazy, still does... But it's what is giving me a good foundation and the strength to start getting back to some normalcy. Still feel allot of numbness and mild pins and needles sensations in my thighs. Guessing that will subside...DONT try so hard new hippies. It'll come.

My family has been concerned that I looked like I had lost weight this last 3 weeks.. Which I have. Then I weighed and I'm 3 lbs heavier than I was. Then I remembered my new hardware!! Hey, I should be able to automatically subtract about 4-5 and as there is nothing I can do about it. Seems like I also remember that your head weighs approximately 8 lbs so there's another thing that I should be able to subtract for body weight. :heehee:

Morning. Kind of a blessing. Still hard to get comfortable at night anywhere. But then...I used to be in SO MUCH pain before... Uncomfortable, I can tolerate. New ball joints and tie rods... That's what I have. Don't feel the ball joint but as everything comes back to life it feels like the tie rods are what I might feel? Did a little more than I needed to yesterday but I'll just rest more today. Hope all my hope friends had some rest last night. Coming up on 4 weeks Tuesday since I got my vehicle fixed. And I've home from pushing a walker slowly around and using a potty chair, to doing most everything unaided...use the cane very little even. More for security in case I get off balance. Our bodies are truly amazing in their ability to come back from all that trauma. Truly blessed!!!

That's great. Usually when you add anything new you feel it. It's kind of a back and forth motion. Even now, almost two years after bilateral surgery, I get sore if I change my exercise routine, or do something that I shouldn't.

p.s. I wouldn't recommend shaking your bootie, but I'm very cautious.

I do see that!!! Give and take. Don't think it's harmful when you expand what you're doing, as you said, but need to follow up with extra rest maybe.

Inspired that you are doing so well...@Hip Hip Hooray. I already can tell that the old pain is gone... Got a couple of new ones still, plus get worn out still so quickly.

Mojo I too use my cane etc mostly just for like security .... I'm gonna ask when I can ditch them ..... I slept well last night Ahhhh Heaven ... it's always so off on on....tie rods eh ...ball joints lol what next you getting a new horn

Lol, MyAussieGirl. I will say the whole process is very indelicate. Power tools, metal replacements...I am grateful but it's no wonder it's so traumatic the first weeks. I did a little too much yesterday, got a little too warm outside which made me feel extra crappy, then I overate which is making me feel extra extra crappy.. Which is why I'm up at 3:30 am. Lord, if someone is following my recovery thread they probably think I'm neurotic. Life is great, no, it sucks, but it's better, but I hurt, but now it's better, no, it's not...my goodness. It is a rollercoaster ride for sure.

Aww Mojo I follow your thread and you're less neurotic than I am... I sound so negative and needy.... I know and often times I am cause all these things come up nobody tells us about and discomfort in area I never knew.... I'm sorry you may have over done it but glad you went to be with family and all... I'm with you sista I can't wait till this is in my rearview mirror

Mojo333 and @MyAussieGirl.
The Pair of you "what are you like" to borrow my mothers phrase.
Its great to see you bouncing off (helping) each other and now offering assistance to others.
Neurotic.
I don't think so.
Well done Guys.
Joe......

@Irish Joe Definitely an erratic journey. Good to have folks to commiserate with. Say, as one of my fellow BTHR fellows - when did you drive? I feel like I would have no problem although I don't even want to put the seatbelt on when I rode. Keep thinking that would be horrid if we had when a fender bender... When though my hips are good with the exception of the incision. It's my blasted thighs mostly that still aggravate me. And left leg doesn't respond immediately still when I first tell it to do something like lift straight up. Still have to 'put' it in the car sometimes.

Patience... Really tough to embrace that coping skills... And it is a skill. I'm tired of being tired. I feel like I was a trooper during the hard parts and now I'm ready to do something else. When I do, I do too much! I know it's just what it is so I'm just venting!!! Will try to find my gratitude today. Counting your blessings does help!

Hey Mojo.
Bi-Lateral's not for wimps eh !!!!
6 weeks for driving was me. And then very short journeys for a while.
I might seem like a know-it-all now but believe me you are coping better than I did at 4 weeks (much better actually).
Your body has been through the mill (twice).
Keep on keeping on.
Joe.....
