Bilateral THR Grateful Double Hippy

I um lol sleep on one side most of the night 1 position hubby is amazed lol....Yes Mojo....Irishjoe and Josephine all made sense heck Josephine even gave us cool graphic pics.... I get up a lot to potty I wish that would end my picky

Mojo I give you mega credit I don't think I could do 2 sides by anxiety would be through the roof ...you be inspire kiddo

I love you Josephine. I believe you might be omnipotent... If only matters pertaining to joint replacement. Makes perfect sense... Haven't really mentioned it because it wasn't THAT bothersome, but was curious when someone else they we're experiencing the same thing. Shared experiences are ever so helpful!

My arms and hands were falling asleep, too. It's stopped, and I'm not sure why. I've been hiking regularly. Maybe when you are able to be more active it will help.

I found that eating lots of fruits, salads, and prunes did the trick for me in the bathroom. It sounds like you are healing very well. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Hip Hip Hooray. Got some salad today... So I hope that doesn't turn into rocks. Hiking regularly, good for you. You were rubbing that in my face ? Can't wait to do some outside activity with my new hips!!! It's all getting so much better. I'm confident now that it will all be ok, whereas the first 2 weeks I wasn't convinced.

Up and awake at 330. My guy is so patient. He gets up with me though I can manage mostly now. Don't know how he has stayed so positive through all of this. Catering to me and my mood swings and erratic schedule. Feel blessed. Everything is so achy sore after 3-4 hours in any position. Sometimes I just gotta do something different. My guy is 19 years my senior and we've been together 15 years and hanging in there through this... Bet he didn't anticipate this. Trying not to be so needy!

@Josephine Question about pain meds. The Dilaudid prescribed to me - 4mg every 6 hours works perfectly to keep pain in check although now that I don't have the very intense pain and more an achiness that can build up to more sever pain if not held in check, I feel like it might be a little more than necessary right now. I've been able to skip one of my morning doses so down to 3 per day. Need it at night most. They are only filling a week at a time and feel as if they probably will not Reggie after this week. I have 50 mg Tramadol from before and I know several people who reverted to this after first few weeks of TKR. Do you think this would be a good thing to go to. Can I try taking one of these in daytime even if I still take Dilaudid at night?

Yes or course you can! In fact, keep the Dilaudid for night time and use the Tramadol during the day. But when you take the Tramadol, also take 1,000mg Tylenol with each dose. This was s chart I made for my surgery.

will not Reggie
What does "Reggie" mean?

REFILL, yes...Reggie was autocorrect's choice. My phone hates me, I don't have computer at home right now.
Thank you Josephine.

Good morning all my fellow hippies. It's gonna be a good day today! Slept longer than I ever have in my bed last night. Really stiff for the first hour though. Just extra careful when I first get up as my legs will pick weird times to not work right or I'll get a zap through the back of my legs. Happens less and less. I'm starting to get so excited as I am noticing that I'm not hunched over like before surgery, I stand tall and straight! I know I have a way to go but can't wait to do the Hippy Hippy Shake instead of Twist and Shout.

I'm still following you @Mojo333 as I am still 42 days out from having my bilateral surgery. Glad to hear that you are feeling better and getting around better even with the ups and downs, I'm anxious to get mine over with.

Hey Mojo, Your thread is inspiring! Good on you for keeping on keeping on.

And as a licensed mental health professional with 25 years of experience, I firmly believe in the positive power of bitching, whining and complaining, when that is the truth of the situation. What's important is that we hold ourselves in compassion and then get on with it, doing what what we can with what we've got.

By the way, if you haven't yet, check out DamnYouAutoCorrect.com. Just don't take a sip of anything while you read or it may come your nose...

@gaulsuerou I forget you are stuck in pre-op land for so much longer than I was. Want to tell you not to fixate so much on the surgery since you have a good wait yet, but I know from the moment I knew I was going for my surgery, it's all I could think about. I think the biggest thing I've learned about this process, it's to be patient. Letting my body heal, resting more than I can stand to... Feeling like I need to be 'working' on recovery. The first few weeks... You aren't 'working' on jack- and you don't need to. Everytime I tried to work on something, my body said- too much too soon, so did my bonesmart friends. My recovery is going great. I'm still having difficulty but well within my tolerance. Expect to do nothing but walk to and from bathroom and different places to test. Your body will want to stop and heal! We will both be GREAT sooner than later. I'm so happy to get rid of that miserable pain from my old hips.

@ScenicRte Thanks, can't wait. About to check it out NOW since I've been up since 3. Thank goodness I'm managing so much better, my better half doesn't feel obligated to stay up and babysit so I feel guilty about that. My back hurts and now I have my 'monthly friend' in town (blessed to still have coming once a month at nearly 54... Yes, I am being a smart alec) so now my stomach hurts on top every thing else. Kudos to you for believing in the mental health field! As manager of our local Food Bank, I work with clients and caregivers from several mental health facilities and it takes a special compassionate person to do what you do. I agree with your thoughts and in that line - also feel that we are always better when we are down when we can shift some self pity over to helping someone else. We do that on this forum regularly and it helps out fellow bonesmart friends... And helps us get out of ourselves. Hope you are doing well!!!

@Josephine The Tramadol/Tylenol combo seems to be working excellent. Will be working today from 2-4. Sitting at desk doing the intakes for referral clients so shouldn't be too taxing. I am not the ssharpest today but still feel myself inflating with excitement as I continually realize how the hip pain is minimal... And not at all the same. I am truly gonna get my life back. If you want to read something interesting I suggest 'The Tau of Pooh' it explains the principals of Tau through the characters in Winnie the Pooh. All characters represent personalities. Eeyore, the pessimist...Piglet, the worrier...I'm a Tigger. I'm ready to bounce back into a joyful life. Come on hips!!!!?

Did two hours at work... Seriously low key... This morning, and two hours this afternoon, and I am so exhausted!!! I am walking so much more normally... And I don't feel terrible ... Sitting some... Short walks. But Lord, you'd think I did a ditch.... Oh well. A season for everything.... To All My Hippies
